Private lakefront home w/porch & dock--fish, relax; quiet & shady

A home with plenty of shade and outdoor area to enjoy. Fish from the dock, play games on the screen porch, or BBQ at the picnic area. Plus there is a boat launch nearby. Plenty of room to eat or chat around the table. Three beds (king, 2 queen) to make very comfortable sleeping arrangements for six people. You can request fish food -- fun for kids to take to the dock and watch the fish come over for a meal.

Very private, yet still close to the lovely sandy white beaches of South Walton County (approximately 20 minute drive). Or take a drive to visit the E.O.Wilson Biophilia Center, historic Eden Gardens State Park, or Alaqua Animal Refuge. There are several golf courses, scuba diving, horseback riding, and fishing charter opportunities -- all of which can be done as a day trip.

Other recommendations and entertainment ideas can be provided upon request. Please review house rules regarding pets. There is a $50 fee for animals brought on the property.

I have to say this place was wonderful.My favorite thing was drinking my coffe on the deck in the morning under the trees and spanish moss listening to the birds. It was so relaxing. House very clean, basic necessities. Good parking. 2 steps in for folks with mobility issues. One step in shower and one tub. Hot water with good water pressure. 1 king room and 2 beds in another room. Great kitchen, has ice maker. Also screened in porch with table and chairs. Decent walk down stairs to a great dock looks great for fishing. Also a fire pit and grill area with pavillion. I dont think it could get much better. Thank you again for a great stay!

“Borderline 11”

I have to say this was one of the best VRBO experiences I have ever had.Jonas and Teresa are the epitome the excellent host. I needed a couple of old bars in the shower, and immediately after we arrived they were on the spot, put them up, and I was safe during the duration of my visit.If you from behind the house was impeccable. It was quiet and peaceful, and we had all the privacy that we could possibly want.Inside of the house was both comfortable and well kept. The kitchen was well-stocked as well as cleaner than my own home.I cannot wait to find an excuse to come back and spend more time here.

Serenity? Definitely!

We really enjoyed our time at this location. We did some fishing and also enjoyed going to the beach. Plenty of restaurants and shopping close by. Enclosed patio was nice even though we only had 15 minutes of rain during our stay.

Lake retreat

This property offers serenity at its beat. We needed a breath. We are dealing with our flooded house feom Hurricane Milton. We have been working around the clock to do the restoration of the water that ran thru our home. This home on the water provided us the beautiful lake and dock to just sit on, dropnour toes in the water and decompress. Having been a professional cleaner for over 40 years I was very impressed with the cleanliness of the home. The host as well as their cleaning staff were beyond friendly and accommodating.

Nice and quiet

Pleasant place to watch the birds and clouds go by. Hurricane Debby brushed by just to the east and gave quite a show. I caught the biggest bass of my life off the dock (6 lbs.)!

Meeting great grandson

The cabin was wonderful. I had my grandson, his wife and baby over for breakfast on Saturday morning. Then we sat in the screened porch for a while. Very peaceful. The property is beautiful. I dropped water on the floor in the kitchen, i wiped it up with a paper towel and the paper towel was clean when i looked at it. Very clean through out the cabin. We will definitely rent this cabin next time we are in Defuniak Springs.

Perfect vacation

This cabin was perfect. It's on a lake with a view. They have everything and anything that you could ask for. It has a screened in back porch which is perfect the night,no mosquitoes,and getting out of the rain. Beds are really comfortable. The whole cabin is really clean. We really enjoyed our stay. There is a little restaurant, Frainns,is really good. Defuniak Springs is a nice little town. But there wasn't hardly anyone around us. Which is perfect. Has a cute lil pavilion with grills. Also has a fan with light under the roof. Came in handy. The whole place is a ten. Our hostess,Theresa, was so nice along with her husband, Jones. You have to rent lil place that is on Serenity ct. We already booked it for next year, that how much we enjoyed it. Oh the beaches are about an hour away. Not too bad

Just wanted to make memories.

Our family had an amazing vacation! After a very hard year of battling cancer, our family needed to reconnect & unwind. I grew up in the area & brought my family down to see my hometown. Didn’t get a chance to enjoy the firepit due to summer heat but the outdoor pavilion, picnic table & fan w/ lighting, were great for entertaining some old friends & family for dinner. The dock has benches on either side & was a great peaceful spot to just relax & enjoy nature while you feed the fish. My oldest son caught & released his 1st fish ever. The fishing poles & hooks are in the shed. We used the cooler for drinks when we went to the beaches & Springs. The view was beautiful at sunset. The screened in porch entertained many conversations & allowed us a spot away from the insects at dusk. The facilities were amazing & the owners Theresa & Jonas were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this cabin if you are looking for a vacation for quality family time. We had a wonderful time! We made a lot of memories. We will absolutely book again when we are back. Some of our guests asked for the information for a local staycation. If you are looking for a relaxing place with spectacular views & waterfront access, you won't find a better place than Serenity Retreat. I do wish there would have been an option for a peddle boat, a small fishing boat, or canoe so we could have paddled around the lake. Also, a bigger couch for better cuddle time with my kiddos.

Very relaxing but had terrible ants and owner visits

We stayed in mid June 2023. It was very relaxing and had some pros, but they were outweighted by the cons. Pros: Extremely quiet and peaceful, has private dock with access to large Lake Juniper, has a firepit by the lake with some wood available, has a large, covered pavillion with a picnic table, lights, and a small camping grill. Has a deck and mid sized screen porch. Also has a washer and dryer. Cons: Ants. Ants were everywhere. They were on the porch, porch furniture, dock, every cup or bait container we set down, and even infested our car parked out front. The host left spray but there were way too many to fight off. The yard and porch are in major need of a clean up. You can barely see the water from the porch.The porchis full of clutter (old chairs, cusions, baby items, old carpet rolland more) we were only able to use a section of the porch due to everything on it. The screen door also has a huge gap in it allowing bugs in the porch. It would be very helpful if they cleaned the porch off, fixed the door, and did some major yard and tree work to help with the space, ants, and view of the water. One of the biggest cons was the host popped in on us TWICE. He came on the 1st day ti 'put in an air filter'. He showed up again on our last day to 'take out the trash'. We were very surprised by his unexpected visits. We stay in homes like this regularly in FL and have never had hosts just show up.They were friendly, but they definitely shouldn't have come twice during our stay

Lakefront Cabin

My husband and I were able to totally relax for a few days at Serenity Cabin!! It is well named!The cabin was extremely comfortable and very well maintained. Lake Juniper was gorgeous! The little neighborhood is very quiet. It you want to relax and unplug gor a while, try this cabin in Defuniak Springs!!

Our stay at the cabin on Lake Juniper was nothing short of magical. It was the most peaceful retreat we’ve ever taken—so serene that for days, we wouldn’t hear another human voice as we sat by the lake, completely immersed in nature. Watching the sunrise and sunset over the water was an unforgettable experience, and we have the most beautiful photos to take home, especially of the azaleas in full bloom.Springtime here was a gift, and from this perfect home base, we were able to explore so much of the surrounding area. We celebrated St. Patrick’s Day at McGuires —both in Panama City Beach and Destin—each offering its own lively charm. We walked the stunning two-mile boardwalk at Turkey Creek, taking in the natural beauty, and found ourselves returning to Eden Gardens more than once, captivated by the magnificent trees that have stood for centuries.Through it all, our hosts ensured that our stay was seamless, addressing any small needs we had with kindness and care. Their hospitality made an already perfect getaway even more special. We truly couldn’t have asked for a better experience and look forward to returning to this slice of paradise.

Traveled the world and settled in this quaint historic town ~ DeFuniak Springs, Florida. Picture of Juniper Lake taken at the dock on this property. It was taken by a wildlife photographer who stayed at Serenity Retreat.

Why they chose this property

When you look at the lake views, there is no doubt you will know why we choose to live on Lake Juniper. It is a 300 acre state-owned and maintained lake. The fish and turtles actually come to the dock when you put out food. Come during Christmas and see the circle around the lake in full decoration or for one of the other local celebrations. Make wonderful family memories so you can reminisce and return to visit for years to come.

What makes this property unique

You will love the cool breeze that blows across the lake and fills the air with a fresh scent. Or do some sunbathing on the dock. Either way, this home is a great price for the area. We just want to share our piece of paradise with you. The area is laid back and traffic is not heavy. You can bike ride if you bring your own bikes. There is a paddleboat and fishing poles available for a small cost. Lots of room for family to roam. Check out the moss in trees or those curved trees growing in the edge of the lake. It is just pure fun for all.
