About this property

Tampa Heights Bungalow

Overview
Large, spacious bungalow style home in Tampa Heights (just one mile north of downtown Tampa). Centrally located with easy access to downtown, Ybor Historic district, Bucs Stadium, Amalie Arena, SOHO, etc.
Oversized living room with large windows throughout provides lots of natural light. Foyer has breakfast nook and desk w/functional work space. Planning a surprise? Need help with flowers, champagne, chocolates? Let me know how I can help you make it a special trip!

The space
This property consists of a large main house at front of home and a small apartment. I live in the apartment in the back of the home which is separated by a permanently locked door. We each have separate entrances for complete privacy to guests.
The main house is privately rented to guests and includes: an enormous living room with large windows, foyer with breakfast nook and desk, kitchenette (no full kitchen; see description below in ad), 2 Queen bedrooms, a full bath, and a half bath (which is inside of one of the bedrooms). A tall, queen air mattress is also available upon request.

Guest access
Private access to main house via key pad entry. Front porch has covered patio with 2 chairs, private use for guests only. Free parking in long driveway with car port. Free street parking also available on residential street.

Interaction with guests
The house is a keyless entry, so guests can come and go with complete privacy. I live in an apartment attached to the back of the main house. I park on the street in front of the house, so you may occasionally see me coming and going (my private entrance is at back/side of house). I often do not get to meet guests during their stay, but I am always available by phone for assistance or questions about the area.

Other things to note
There is an efficiency style kitchenette only - no full kitchen. Includes toaster oven, microwave, hot plate, hot water carafe, 4.6 cu ft fridge with separate freezer, and coffee maker (coffee/tea, filters, sugar, creamer, etc. provided). There is no oven and no kitchen sink.

Temporary Home
We had 4 month stay so we got to know the area, property and owners fairly well. Location was centrally located as a base for other short trips nearby. Our biggest concern was frequent interruption of internet service and electrical surges. Overall owners were very responsive to our concerns when requests made. Cons-- furnishings could use updates and / or replacements especially mattresses. There is no kitchen but you can improvise to fit your situation as needed. I miss sitting on porch for my morning coffee too. Neighbors are friendly. It was good experience but I'm glad to be home again! We miss you guys and Tampa already. Thanks for hospitality. SG and RG

Quite an oddity
After midnight, my daughter and I were awoken by a man aggressively pounding on the front door asking me to open it because he said he was “assaulted.” I did not open the door, but I told him I’d call 911. As I looked through the window, I saw the man, and he didn’t appear assaulted. In fact he actually had his own cell phone and was talking calmly to someone saying I wouldn’t open the door. My daughter called 911 again and asked them to come quickly! I called the homeowner (Tim), and he used his A/V porch camera to talk to the man. The man eventually left the porch, but we didn’t know where he went. After a 3rd call to 911, we finally got a police officer to come to the house (45 minutes later!) and escort us out to our car. We were very shook and scared by the man wanting in the house. We left and went to a nice hotel provided to us by the homeowner for that night. Thanks Tim. We were told the stranger at the door incident had never happened before. It was quite an oddity, and we did not return to the house for the rest of our vacation. The homeowner was gracious and refunded our rental fees. Tim was great to work with.
