"Our House" was the perfect place for our Book Club getaway! There are 7 of us from all over North America who get together 2x each year. I live in Asheville, however, my home is not large enough to accommodate all of us, so we found this beautiful property and it was great! We spent our days exploring the beauty and fun of Asheville and evenings enjoying the amenities of this rental home. We love to cook and the kitchen was well equipped. The dining room table was comfortable and there was plenty of room for all of us. The beds were very comfortable and there were plenty of towels and even cozy bathrobes for each of us! We loved having the hot tub and outdoor fireplace as another place to relax and enjoy. We all highly recommend "Our House" as the perfect Asheville area destination for a large group. The house can easily accommodate more people than we had. The hosts were very helpful too. Overall, it was a perfect getaway!

Birthday Celebration

We found “Our House” even more wonderful in person than the online photos. The owner, Frank, gave suggestions as to great eateries and other area highlights. Perfect views, well stocked kitchen (with a generous supply of eggs included), roomy interior and porch spaces to gather made for a perfect trip for our group. The barnyard animals were a crowd favorite…we all want to make a return trip!

Fairview Cove - Our House

The owner met us at the property and briefly told us about it and about the area. The Our House was spacious, clean and everyone was easy to find. The house is in a hallow along with other vacation rentals. The grounds were incredible as was the mountain view. We would stay there again.

Mountain getaway

This place exceeded our expectations. The “Our House” property (one of many owned by the owner) is actually in a beautiful private neighborhood with its own small family animal farm. Our daughter, including all the adults in our family, loved feeding carrots to the adorable donkeys and other animals. I was impressed at how well maintained and well appointed the home was with everything that I could need. A highlight of the home was the outdoor hot tub and game room with pool table and foosball table. An unexpected surprise was also the rich history and antiques throughout the house. The overall experience was 10/10.

Great for families

Great location with easy access to Asheville, Lake Lure, and Black Mountain. Property has many fun extras including waterfall/koi pond, horses, goats and chickens. Home itself has many antiques if that is your thing and could use a paint touch up. We couldn’t figure out temperature downstairs (very cold). Frank was communicative and helpful.

Perfect

Clean, comfortable, well appointed. Could not ask for another thing. Comfy beds, nice linens, fluffy robes, awesome walk in showers, everything you might need in the kitchen. Seating for family meals. Comfy furniture by the fireplace. Quiet sleeping. Great for a family getaway. Animals, swings, hammocks, and beautiful views. Make smores in the outdoor fireplace then relax in the clean hot tub. Close to everything yet so quiet and rural. Frank is a kind, helpful host with loads of great recommendations!

Perfect spot for our girls’ trip!

Seven women celebrated our milestone birthday year together over 4 nights at Our House. It was simply the perfect spot for our wonderful, relaxing getaway. The house is spacious and comfortable, with ample space for everyone to sleep and to gather. We used the living room fireplace nightly, prepared meals in the well-stocked kitchen, visited the animals on the farm each day, and enjoyed the hot tub and the beautiful common areas on the property. All linens, towels, and cozy robes were provided, which made packing very easy. Frank was an excellent host. He met the earliest arrivals from the group at the house and gave a tour. He arranged for in-home massages and a trail ride for some of us, including helping adjust the schedules as needed. Frank responded quickly to all of our questions before the trip and while we were there. The location is great - beautiful setting, with plenty of nearby restaurants and grocery options. It was a 20-minute drive into Asheville, to the Biltmore, and to the hike we chose. We are already trying to figure out when we can get back to Our House. Thank you, Frank!

Long awaited vacation

I booked this property based on previous reviews. Certain reviews I agree with- The landscaping is beautiful. The house is in a great location. Frank the owner greeted us and was very friendly. The farm fresh eggs were delicious. We appreciated having toilet paper, paper towels, towels and linens provided. However, if you suffer from allergies like my mother and I do, I would book elsewhere. The house was extremely musty and mildew smelling, particularly the basement. My parents had to leave and stay at a hotel because they couldn’t stop coughing and sneezing. That made our trip complicated and sad that they couldn’t be with us as planned. And more expensive because they had to now book a hotel. The bathrooms seemed clean but were moldy. We couldn’t put our food in the kitchen cabinets because they were filthy. We did enjoy our stay and just closed our eyes to the dirt. We tried to be outside as much as possible.

We stayed at this lovely property for a family get together with our three adult daughters and their partners, Photos don’t do it credit - it appeared much larger and equipped than expected. Owner met us on arrival to provide detailed info on property and surrounding area which was really welcoming. Easy access to airport, Biltmore and many surrounding towns and trails. If you stay on site you can enjoy the hot tub, fire pit and friendly animals- who love carrots! Definitely would recommend a stay here.

Host profile image
After retiring from a 33 year career in sales management/ marketing, we visited our oldest daughter Etta and fell in love with Asheville. We moved to the Asheville Area in 2002 and lived in the house that became our first rental, “Our House.” (We built a cabin on the property and moved into it). Soon to follow, came our youngest daughter, Farris, and her now husband Danny. In 2009 their daughter Alyssa arrived and in 2015 Haley was born, making this a true family business.

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with Asheville and all it has to offer. We then decided to share the beauty of the Asheville Area and the hospitality of the Smokey Mountains with others. “Our House” and “My Roundette” were on the property when we originally bought it. Both have since been remodeled. We then purchased additional land and built “My Place,” “The Huntley,” “The Garden Cabin,” and “Hideout.”

What makes this property unique

The Cove at Fairview is committed to providing safe vacation rentals in a beautiful setting. We have taken several measures to ensure the safety of our guests and our staff. These efforts include the use of disinfecting agents and longer cleaning times.
All of the homes have private places to gather, such as porches and decks. Our larger homes feature outdoor fireplaces.
We have several stunning outdoor areas. Have a picnic or relax in a hammock at Koi Falls. Koi Falls features gentle waterfalls and two Koi Ponds. Many of our guests enjoy going to the Barn to interact with animals. We also have seating at The Lotus Pond and on Flower Hill.
While being very private and close to nature, you are still afforded all of the conveniences of technology such as high speed internet.
Kick back, relax, and have a true retreat or a wonderful place to land after an exhausting day of fun (downtown is only 15 minutes away). There are also several breweries and restaurants outside of Asheville, as well many outdoor activities including hiking.
