About this property

Spring skiing, and alpine summer booking up - don't miss out!

***Private, comforts of home, breathtaking nature at your doorstep ***
Snowmass is truly 'Magic in the trees'
Available for 30 days minimum (due to new regulations in Snowmass Village)
Experience it all, and get some of those bluebird mountain days....
Our house is located off Faraway road, surrounded by the peaceful falling of snow (in winter) and fluttering of aspen leaves (Spring/summer/fall) through the Aspens and tall pines. Peace & quiet, backdoor access to beauty & nature, privacy. My family spent many a vacation and several whole years in this unforgettable place!

Just 5 min from the village, the house has 3 levels and could fit 2 families, or 3 couples

Upstairs:
Kitchen and living area with large stone fireplace and 18 foot (6M) beamed ceilings, and outdoor deck. Fully equipped and quality: 5 burner gas range and oven with broiler, dishwasher, and large refrigerator.
Working remotely? No problem there's good WiFi (I 'zoom' from here regularly) I left a monitor, keyboard and mouse ready for your use.

Mid level
- master bedroom with walk-in closet and private bath room with shower
- 2nd bedroom with 2 beds (or configured as a king), and second bath w/ tub/shower

Downstairs
- a large bedroom has 2 beds (can be combined) and 1 additional single, and one additional mattress. This floor has a third bath with tub/shower. Full Laundry facilities are downstairs.

Summer and Fall there's even more to do!!! Here's a taste :
- Tons of hiking & biking - right out the back door
- Aspen Rec Center: Ice rink, 3-story climbing wall, water park with 300ft water slide
- Snowmass has a rec center w/ a pool and tennis courts, etc
- Rent a 'downhill mountain bike' for the thrill of your life: Take the gondola up to Elk Camp with your bike -- Have an awesome lunch, and then ride down the exciting trail to the village again - woohoo!
- This year we rented "Fat tire" electric mountain bikes from Aspen, and rode to Maroon Lake, had a picnic lunch and rode back - absolutely spectacular!
- Visit the Glenwood Adventure park, with mile-long natural underground cave tour, bungee jumping, 'alpine sled' (like a personal racecar on roller coaster track - very cool!), Canyon swing, climbing wall, trapeeze trampolines, etc. etc. 45 min drive down the valley to Glenwood Springs.
- Snowmass Rec Cen has a pool/jacuzzi, tennis, and plenty more $15/day.

- Or, just hang out on the deck surrounded by the woods: In summer and fall, the back deck is quite possibly the most peaceful place on earth. You are completely surrounded by woods. Read a book, listen to music, or just zone out listening to the fluttering of Aspen leaves in the breeze! You won't get this experience in a condo!
Walk out the back deck to directly access the hiking trails:
- Powerline trail that takes you over to Elk Camp and the Government trail (that goes all the way from the Snowmass Village to Aspen).
- Tom Blake trail (Awesome for mountain biking with the kids - mostly traverses over soft ground, 1 creek crossing) traverses into Owl Creek and connects with the paved bike path.
The kids can explore the woods and build forts. It's heaven!

Winter/ spring season:
Of course there's world-class downhill skiing, snow boarding, cross-country and back-country skiing, (and uphilling directly from the house!), there's an endless supply of activities in Aspen and Snowmass.
There's an outdoor mini- rink at base village, and a free outdoor ice rink at the Snowmass Rec Cen; - or just snowshoe/skin out the backdoor to 2Creeks, Elk camp /snowmass mountain
Access: its about 5 minutes drive to the slopes at Snowmass Village, 15 min to Buttermilk, 20min to Aspen. Snow tires (and/or 4WD ideally) needed for driveway.

WOW!
We were so lucky to have found this fantastic home for our week of skiing. The weather was fantastic, the house was warm when we arrived and the views from the upper level are breathtaking. We had such a good time. We will definitely be back. Thank you David and Sterling.

About the host

Hi, I'm Dave. Although I was born in Denver, CO, I grew up on the West coast. Before my family moved west, my Dad built this house in Snowmass in 1968. Our family of six spent many ski- and summer vacations and several entire seasons and years in this wonderful home. We completely remodeled 13 years ago, under the expert guidance and brilliant design skill of my brother Jim, a licensed architect.
I've got a family of my own now, and we've brought my 3 kids here on many memorable trips. Now you can enjoy living like a local, with the woods at your doorstep!

Why they chose this property

You are at utter peace here in the woods, but so accessible to this incredible mountain.
With the addition of the "Two Creeks" lift and runs, the slopes have gotten closer to the house. If you're fit, you can walk up through the woods and onto the slopes in about 15 or 20 minutes. Or, drive up Faraway road about 1/4 mile, and there's a turnout - if you're lucky there might be space to pull off the road here, where you can access the slopes 20 feet away. Easy in, and out, much closer than the main Mall, Base Village or Two Creeks.
Parking is free at the Rodeo lot (free shuttle to village), or
Two Creeks is pay parking in the morning, but free after noon (space permitting).
Permit required for the Village Mall parking.
Base Village parking is $5/hour 8am - 4PM, free thereafter. (info as of March 1, '21)

What makes this property unique

Snowmass is a special place. At our home, you are secluded in a private setting, you have the woods at your doorstep, and just moments from the slopes. You have the full alpine experience - winter or summer -- with all the comforts of home!
