About this property
Quercy Blanc stone house renovated with taste, near Montcuq, 8 pers.
Imagine ... Raising the curtain on an old village house, tastefully renovated, which has grown over time. Located in the heart of the Quercy Blanc countryside (South West) 6 km from Montcuq, 20 km from Cahors and 50 km from Montauban, the property is located at the end of a quiet valley and at the entrance to the village of Bagat in Quercy.
Facing south, quiet without being isolated, with an unobstructed view of the hilly landscapes typical of the Lot, all the charm of the house lies in the alliance of traces of the past married to a contemporary decoration.
The layout of the house is favorable for privacy because it is divided into 2 parts: on one side the "old" house composed of a large entrance, a bright living room (wood stove, flat screen, stereo ), a dining room with exposed stone walls and natural stone slabs, the kitchen and "its breakfast corner" has kept its charm of yesteryear while providing the comfort that is required today. Upstairs: a little away to keep its independence, a large bedroom (sofa, 160cm bed, 120cm extra bed) with its stone walls, exposed beams and its private bathroom (bath, bathroom).
In contrast, in the wing of the most recent house, are located on the ground floor, the other 3 bedrooms (2 160 cm beds and bunk beds, new bedding) and their renovated bathroom (shower, toilet) in 2015.
The living room and the dining room with its large picture window give directly on the terrace which will welcome you for your bucolic lunches and dinners. From week to week, the pergola is delicately covered with vegetation and summer meals are made under the natural cover of the leaves.
To relax after a day of sightseeing or simply to rest, you will like to be around the swimming pool (9x4 m, 2 levels 1.10 and 1.60 m deep, salt treatment, built in 2015) fully secured by a rolling shutter. In the evening, the chime of the church bells will remind you that it is already time for an aperitif to take on another terrace that runs alongside the rooms to enjoy the sunset facing the valley, over the village and its beautifully lit church.
Quercy Blanc is renowned for its many medieval villages and its colorful markets. The quality of life is partly found on the plate thanks to our local farmers with their wide range of regional products. Cabecous, Cahors wine, Croustilot as well as seasonal fruits and vegetables garnish our tables. Here we take the time to live. In each village its bars, restaurants with their simple and tasty menus and some gourmet restaurants. Children and teenagers love the Montcuq boating lake with its supervised white sand beach. The Lot valley with its picturesque villages at the water's edge is well worth the detour. An afternoon in a canoe or kayak and a picnic on a small beach will delight everyone. In Cahors, we visit the Valentré Bridge and the medieval town, in Moissac, the cloisters. All around pass the paths of the GR 65 on the way to St Jacques de Compostelle among hundreds of other paths (a hiking start is at the foot of the house) The village festivals are numerous during the summer and the atmosphere is festive and rustic as well as convivial. The weekends of plates prepared by the producers are to be enjoyed outdoors in the villages around the large tables and benches, the scenery is guaranteed. history, gastronomy, warmth, nature ... What a great holiday!
In winter, it is also good to live in Quercy with beautiful walks in the Causses, numerous visits as said above, and good welcoming restaurants offering the culinary riches of the region: foie gras, duck confit, fries, prunes , nuts...
So many products that you will find in the neighboring farm, at Martine and Raymond's, friends, and organic producers. Their daughter Delphine launched an educational garden last year allowing the discovery of fauna and flora as well as all varieties of plants, fruits and vegetables, as common as ancient models.
