An Incredible Stay

My partner and I found a peaceful and beautiful place to stay and unwind from the world; the cottage is welcoming comfortable. The lake and surrounding forest helped us to leave the city behind and enjoy the beauty of the place. I highly recommend this property to anyone who wants to get away from it all.

Cozy lakeside retreat

This apartment is perfect for a solo trip and allows for easy canoe access to the lake. It was clean and comfortable with a nice breeze from its many windows. A couple of smaller appliances need replacing but overall the place was well supplied.

Nice place, literally right on the water. Second time we have rented this place and that says something. Mike’s place is situated on the north shore of beautiful Charleston Lake, and is well protected from the wind by the myriad islands running up the west side of the lake. The area is one of the best, if not THE best area for flat water kayaking in Southern Ontario. Swimming is great too.

Amazing location and cozy stay!!

Snuck out for a 2 day fishing trip. The stay was amazing. Everything we needed was there except towels and bedding. Not an issue but worth mentioning as I couldn’t find that detail in the ad. The host was very responsive and checked in to make sure we had everything we needed. Also has some helpful advice for Trout! The boathouse was perfect to store the boat out of the rain. Will definitely return and recommend to anyone looking to check out Charleston Lake!

Our weekend getaway

The property was perfect! It was exactly as described. It was easy to find. The owner was responsive to our questions. We were looking for a little privacy and isolation — we got lots of both and had a wonderful time.

Gorgeous boathouse view

Looking out in the morning to see a group of common merganzers is priceless! Kayaking is fantastic, saw a lot of wildlife in the nearby creek and around the lake. There's a resident water snake that lives in the rocks next to the boathouse. The docks are perfect as is the swimming. The boathouse is a charming space and the bunkie very handy for visitors who made need somewhere to change or go to the washroom. The only addition I would make is a proper auto-shut-off kettle.

Breezy Beautiful Boathouse

It was lovely staying right on the water in this cute little boathouse. My teenage son enjoyed having his own space in the bunkie. Great use of space. Neighbours were a little close and a little loud, and bring all the food you need (including oil, spices, etc). Hosts were very kind.

Fishing getaway

I had the pleasure of spending three and one half days in the “boat house “ with my brothers and sons. It was strictly a fishing trip. The accommodations were exactly as described and met all of our needs. The house was clean, the kitchen was more than adequate and being able to keep my boat out of the weather was a real bonus. To top it off, the fishing was excellent as we did very well with all types of species. Mike and his wife were very gracious and met all of our needs. We will definitely come back and rent from the Hudson’s again in the future.
