Sky Island is the unique ecosystem of the craggy cliffs of Shawangunk Mountains famous among rock climbers. Nestled between the Rondout Creek and the D&H Canal, the cottage sits in a pastoral glade of trees, birds and deer. Kerhonkson is a Hudson River Valley town of natural beauty. It's a five minute drive to Minnewaska State Park and the Mohonk Preserve. This totally renovated 1840’s cottage is ideal for a couple, but also serves as a peaceful getaway for anyone wishing to spend some quiet time alone. It has a wood burning fireplace, cathedral ceiling with skylights and a private deck. It's an easy entry to the D&H Canal Rail Trail for walking, bicycling, cross-country skiing or bird watching. Regretfully, we cannot accommodate children or pets. Quiet, scenic and felt right at home as soon as we walked in. The host called to be sure we had everything needed and just to welcome us - an unexpected, but lovely touch. Wonderful!

What a perfect, cozy getaway spot. The cottage was everything we needed for a quick weekend away. The location was great, lots to do within a short drive and the walking oath right outside the front door was icing on the cake. Our host Irene was a pleasure and we woukd stay again in a heartbeat!

The house is very cozy and Irene is a wonderful host. We stayed two nights for the 3rd time. Each time has been a relaxing and rejuvenating time. If we come back to New York we will be staying here.

Wonderful!

We have stayed in the cottage several times. It's a great location and Irene is a terrific host. The cottage is well equipped and comfortable. We were perfectly situated for everything we wanted to do, including a tour at Olana, a hike around Denman Mountain and a walk on the Walkill Valley Trail. We didn't have time to walk the trail right out the cottage door, but we could see it as we enjoyed our dinner on the deck each night.

Great second stay!

The cottage has everything you'd need for a relaxing stay indoors, as well as a wealth of information about attractions throughout the county, should you wish to explore. Irene was a delight to work with. We hope to return soon.

The Cozy Cottage

Very beautiful property with plenty of amenities! Everything you need for the perfect campfire indoors. Great movie selection and library incase the weather isn’t the greatest. Always warm with beautiful sky lighting.

Coziest cottage!

We have stayed at this cottage a few times so far. It never disappoints! The cottage is so comfortable and cozy. We love that there is a wood fireplace. Irene keeps the cottage stocked with some nice amenities. It is close to Minnewsaka State Park and Mohonk Mountain. And New Paltz. My favorite is the rail trail right out the door! We will be back! Seeetest cottage!

Truly Enchanting!

The Enchanted Cottage lived up to its name. This charming, clean and well-equipped bungalow is the perfect place to stay. We were there to attend a wedding. We’ll be back to enjoy the hiking trails and other activities.

Perfect location!

This is an adorable, well maintained house in a perfect location. There is a trail right out the front door. It is minutes away from Minnewaska and Mohonk. A great couples get away.

"Just Right" Fairy Tale Cottage

We loved our week away from it all in this cosey, well-appointed cottage. The beautiful meadow and rail trail setting rounded out the aesthetics and our enjoyment of this very special not-too-big-not-too-small-just-right place for we two. A wonderful week and a wonderful experience.

Wonderful quiet and cozy weeklong stay

We had a wonderful stay! Irene is a great communicator. There is plenty of brochures in the house for things to do in the area. The deck was so peaceful and access to the Rail Trail is great. A great cafe/market called Mill & Mason is 100 yards down the road from the cottage. We stopped there for coffee a few times. Great location and I would stay here again.

Loved our stay!

This was our second time back and we were so happy to stay here again! The cottage is so cozy and clean. Having the rail trail right there to go out for walks is great. And Minnewaska was a short drive away to go hiking. Highly recommend!

amazing cottage!

Irene was such a wonderful host, my fiance and I were looking to get away for his birthday and we were pleasantly surprised by everything the cottage and surrounding area had to offer. It was cozy, quaint, and we felt right at home. The local breweries and hiking paths in the area enhanced our stay and we look forward to coming back!
