About the host
Hosted by The Horse Shoe Farm

The Turchin Companies is a dynamic organization, headed by third generation designer/developer John Turchin, specializing in construction and development, design and marketing, property management, alternative energies, and retail. The Turchin Companies began construction in South Florida in 1927 and over the last 90 years have built a well-deserved reputation as one of the premiere development companies in the state.
No strangers to North Carolina, the Turchin family fell in love with the Blue Ridge Mountains in 1970 and made it their second home from then on. Combining their passion for this exquisite area with their creative instinct and unique taste in architecture and design, the Turchin family created a one-of-a-kind luxury mountain community, The Lodges at Eagles Nest, in Banner Elk, NC. A 1,350 acre inspired mountain retreat, with altitudes over 5,000 feet, The Lodges at Eagles Nest was created as a place where residents would be reminded of their childhood summer camp days, but with an unmatched sense of luxury and distinction.
They have since focused their passion and love into The Horse Shoe Farm.

Why they chose this property
Feeling a deep connection to the bucolic nature of the property, the Turchins acquired the farm in 2017, with the desire to embrace the intimate setting and share it with the world. Open to guests looking to experience the magic of this sanctuary, The Horse Shoe Farm is designed as an open palate ready to fulfill and facilitate any of our guests desires and be their ultimate home away from home.
What makes this property unique
This home is located on The Horse Shoe Farm, which has eight houses available to rent, from small cottages to timeless manors. The property is 85 acres and features:
The Farmhouse is our game room that offers a pool table, ping pong tables, record player and record collection, big screen TV, games, puzzles and arts & crafts.
There are bikes in the game room that are free for guests to use to explore The Farm’s 85 acres.
We have fishing gear (poles and tackle) available to use in the two ponds located on the property.
Paddle boards and canoes that can be used at the group’s leisure (life jackets provided).
The Farm is home to horses, goats, sheep, ducks, and lots of chickens. We are happy to give tours down to the animals. They always love visitors.
Each night we have a bonfire next to the Silo Cookhouse. The view is spectacular! This is a great time to decompress and enjoy the s'mores kits that we leave in each home at arrival.
Our wonderful Stable Spa is also an option for anyone wanting to enjoy a treatment or yoga class. Be sure to take a look at our Spa Menu so that you can see what we offer.
If guests would like to go off site, we are centrally located between Hendersonville, Asheville, and Brevard so there are many things nearby including hiking, horseback riding, and great shops to explore.
