Other things to note
*Something to keep in mind- in an attempt to give you the full WNC experience, we do have some neighbors further up the mountain that like to scare off the bears from their trash cans. They use tactics like yelling "GET", tossing rocks, and shooting a gun. The bears are largely unbothered by these defenses. The fascinating cultural experience happens about once a month. Enjoy!
*Sadly, we had a bad guest really take advantage of us as hosts, so moving forward we have implemented a $500 damage deposit (via a VRBO credit card hold that they will release after your stay). Please note, cats are not permitted. Unauthorized pets will result in a $500 fine per pet and your immediate removal from the property.

Family Vacay at Stone throw

We absolutely loved the house Jessica is an amazing host and communicates immediately with you if you have an issue. The only thing that I would state is that it is at least 30 minutes to an hour to get to any activities, especially if you have teenagers. That is the only thing I would add. I loved our stay. The kids loved this house. It just took so long to get anywhere.

Great get away

Home and property were great, there is a fenced in front yard which is especially great for pet owners. The rustic feel of the home is very cute and you feel right at home even when away. We were able to explore, Pisgah, Hendersonville, Greenville, and Asheville. Would definitely stay here again or recommend it to anyone.

Great stay!

Our stay was great. House was nice and spacious clean, and equipped with everything we needed. I thought it was a great location to a lot of near by places to hike and shop and eat. We enjoyed a nice fire one night and roasted smores. We definitely recommend our hostess was super efficient and easy to deal with and provided great recommendations. Thank you for the opportunity and sharing with us !

Not what we expected

The central air stopped working on the second day that we arrived. They did replace with a window unit but wasn't sufficient enough to cool the whole upstairs. The road into the property had lots of crevices and hard to maneuver, in and out onto the main road. There were a lot of steep stairs which we weren't aware of, going into the place and then more stairs leading up to the main floor. The front and back yard needed mowing, the outside deck was really dirty, and wobbled when you walked on it, kind of scary. One plus, the beds were very comfortable.

The stay was not what I had imagined. The house was clean, the property manager tried to be helpful but… the ac was out. It was out when we arrived and the cleaning crew should have alerted the property manager but it was left to me. The first night we were told to open the windows but there were no screens in the bedroom windows. For three days, different techs tried to fix the ac but were unable. I brought my dog’s crate so I could go out with family for a few hours but was afraid to leave my pup without knowing how warm it may become. Finally, three days in they told us that we should find other accommodations. Not easy when you are 650 miles from home. Pet, grandkids and a frustrated gram! The fenced yard in the front was in poor condition. The weeds and grass were too high to comfortably let the dog out. The mower was broken and when they tried to mow while we were there, it broke again. I feel we should have been able to use the fenced in yard. That was one of the reasons we selected this property. The downstairs shower head sprayed water everywhere! So 6 of us were showering upstairs. We were told someone would look at it but no one came while we were there. We were given a refund without a problem but it was not the family get together I thought it would be. The gravel road to the house needs to be addressed. As a timid Florida driver the spinning gravel was unnerving to me. I’m sure most wouldn’t give it a thought. The Hendersonville area is beautiful!

Perfect Retreat

The house was perfectly located to hiking trails. It is wonderfully decorated and thoughtfully set up with travels needs in mind. From labeled lights, binder of information, stocked kitchen, clean house, easy access and quiet area made relaxing and vacation just what it should be. The host was gracious and responsive. Looking forward to future visits.
