Lake Side Vacation Home Has It All!

House On The Hill is a 2 story home with 4 bedrooms (includes one bunkroom) and 3 baths located on 3 acres of land adjacent to Dead Lake in the heart of lakes country in Otter Tail county Minnesota. It will sleep 8 people in the base rate and up to 16 (with additional person charges). Amenities include internet, 2 televisions, air conditioning, dishwasher, washer/dryer, 2 refrigerators, game room, an outdoor ground level deck with patio furniture and propane grill, 2 fire pits (lakeside and adjacent to home) with Adirondack chairs, 2 living areas, and a dock space for your boat or pontoon and use of the launch. Did we forget to mention that there is also a doggy door and a fenced in yard for man's best friend (with applicable pet fees).

There is on site management for this property as it is adjacent to, and managed by, Sunset Bay Resort No more having issues that a remote manager cannot readily address! As part of the rental your family/friends can also enjoy all of the amenities of the resort such as our 550 feet of sugar sand beach, boat launch, children's playset, fish cleaning house, game room, horseshoe pits, public restroom facility, swim dock, water volleyball, canoe, pedal boats, stand up paddle boards, lawn games, and basketball nets. All of this wrapped into one fabulous vacation rental for you and your group. You can enjoy being up the hill from the resort and all the seclusion it provides, or join in with other guests at the resort just steps away!

The House On The Hill underwent renovations this past winter to include a newly finished/remodeled basement and all new décor throughout. We provide a fully equipped kitchen with all the place settings, dishes and pots and pans necessary. We also provide the bed linens. You just need to provide your own personal items to make your vacation complete!

Great family getaway

We had a great time at Sunset Bay Resort. The house on the hill was amazing and it was plenty of room for the seven of us. Jim and Kristin were great hosts. The location was beautiful and so peaceful there. We took full advantage of the paddle boats, kayaks and paddle boards. We also used the fire pit every night and had s’mores. Great place to stay!

Great Stay

we had a group of 6 guys stay for an ice fishing tournament. The cabin is amazing. Trent is an amazing host. very attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. He also has one of the friendliest dogs ive ever met. If we are ever back in the area we know exactly where we are staying.

Great winter getaway!

The House in the Hill was a great family getaway to recharge, get a change of COVID scenery and stay safe. Well equipped kitchen, comfy furniture and plenty of space. Owners communicated well in advance and during the stay, minimizing contact but came to reboot the WiFi immediately when we let them know. Beds are firm and house was clean. We sincerely appreciated our stay and the warm welcome for our furry grand baby too!

Nice place, good hosts, tough weather for October .

With COVID-19 we wanted a big place with room to spread out. This house was perfect— three bedrooms on the first floor, three baths, and an open floor plan. Our hosts were attentive. They shoveled the five inches of snow from the driveway before we arrived. We were hiking the nearby state parks. That was colder than expected, but the house was toasty warm. We will definitely come back again.

Born and raised in Minnesota, Kristin and Jim purchased Sunset Bay Resort in 2012 upon relocating back to Minnesota from Ozark, MO. House On The Hill is our former home now converted to a vacation home rental. We have enjoyed providing families their vacation experiences at the resort for seven years now, and look forward to providing more families this vacation lake home rental as well.

Why they chose this property

Our son and daughter have now grown and moved out. This left us in the large house with too much space for us to utilize. We realized we could provide many families the opportunity to share in a lakeside vacation by turning it into a vacation home rental. Being on site at the adjacent resort allows us to manage the property and be available to you as guests to meet all of your vacation needs!

At many lake side vacation home rentals you get a house with its amenities and possibly access to a lake. However, with House on the Hill you get that plus a ton more! A gorgeous beach, on site boat launch, dock space for your boat, access to a professionally managed resort with game room, fish cleaning house, playground, horse shoe pits, swim dock, water sports and a whole lot more! House on the Hill provides seclusion from the resort, but also provides many amenities for you to enjoy if you so desire. All at no additional charge!
