About this property

Tiny Off Grid A-Frame Cottage - Glamping St. Louis

Get away and experience the tranquility of nature in a tiny A-frame cottage in a private campsite. The A-frame cottage offers the perfect mix of luxury and nature , giving guests the time and space to relax, recharge and reconnect. You will feel like you are a million miles away yet we are conveniently located just minutes from almost anywhere in the St. Louis area.

The Off Grid A-Frame Cottage is in a private campsite, next to our hidden pond adjacent to the Mississippi River. It features a comfortable queen bed with crisp, clean sheets, comforter, and pillows. It is equipped with 12 volt lighting and a fan, and occasionally air conditioning (please confirm availability prior to booking). It is heated in the spring and fall. The A-Frame Cottage is just a short walk to our bathroom cabin; clean and with flush toilets and enclosed outdoor shower.

Your getaway can include fishing, canoeing on the River, exploring the pond, hiking, cornhole, watching the wildlife from your deck, toasting marshmallows around the campfire, or just relaxing in nature.

We are located at the River Island Marina, an eclectic marina and glampground for the modern buccaneer, urban adventurer, or outdoor enthusiast. We offer a unique and convenient place to enjoy Missouri's great outdoors, the River, and everything St. Louis has to offer. Each of our glamping sites has a unique design and personality with distinctive characteristics to create romantic getaways, family fun, and even retro glamping.

Our Beds - Your glampsite’s bed has a mattress pad, a hypoallergenic mattress protector and hypoallergenic pillow protectors. Before you arrive we wash and disinfect the sheets, quilts, mattress protector, and pillow protectors in hot water with detergent.

Our Bathrooms - We have two bathrooms in our bathroom cabin. Each of our bathrooms are clean and disinfected at least twice daily. Additionally, disinfectant wipes and solution are available in each bathroom for guest’s use.

Our hot water shower is outdoors and adjacent to the bathroom cabin.

Cooking - Our outdoor kitchen area features both a gas and charcoal grill for our guests to use. We also have a microwave and coffeepot. Coffee and drinking water are available in our outdoor kitchen. We recommend that guests bring their own pots and pans; however, we provide disposable (paper and plastic) plates, cups, and eating utensils.

IMPORTANT: Glamping St. Louis is in Missouri’s great outdoors so be prepared to accept the inherent risk of your adventure including wildlife, insects, and unpredictable conditions (we can’t control weather or the River when it floods). Come with an adventurous and open mind, proper clothing, and some bug spray.

THE RIVER - The River occasionally reaches flood stage (generally in the spring) which effects the road into our property. If the road has water on it we can shuttle you in with our truck so your glamping adventure won't be effected.

Other things to note

We are located in the heart of St. Louis' best boating. You are welcome to bring your kayaks, canoe, fishing boat, pontoon boat, or jet skis (we have a private boat ramp to the River). We are also in St. Charles County farm country which is popular among bicycling enthusiasts.

Very nice.
It is perfect if you want to get away from normal life. My fiancée and I were the only ones there this weekend. The cabin was clean and fully furnished. Nice and quiet. Rich was very nice. Definitely recommend.

Peaceful, Quiet, Simple
Helpful hosts and a comfortable cottage. Loved how close I was to the water—even got some kayaking in. Had everything I needed and would definitely consider returning.

About the host

Hosted by Lee Crockett

Host profile image
As avid sailors we have owned 15 boats and cruised Mexico's Sea of Cortez with our young kids. We have backpacked through Europe and hiked and camped throughout the U.S. Now that the kids are grown, we acquired the River Island Marina and set out to make it a comfortable, family friendly, and trouble free experience for our members and guests.

We started Glamping St. Louis with a single glamping tent and have expanded to six unique glamping sites. We have hosted over 200 couples and families from across the country. Our guests come to get away for a weekend, celebrate an anniversary, or are seeking an alternative to staying in a hotel while visiting St. Louis.

Some of our guests spend a weekend just sitting on the deck and taking in the natural beauty of our pond or the River. Others visit the many tourist attractions that St. Louis has to offer. We offer a unique experience in nature without the hassle of pitching the tent or sleeping in a wet sleeping bag.
