Private Bluff Top Cottage above the Mississippi River

This charming, newly remodeled cottage is conveniently located between Grafton and Alton, IL on top of the bluff, high above the Mississippi River and the Great River Road. This 2 bedroom cottage is in a private, woodland setting perfect for your bird and wildlife viewing. We have seen many eagles, turkey and deer.

Although there is no internet at the cottage there is a river viewing area with internet close by. Cell phone service is good. Also, for those that would like to stay longer, there is a 10% discount for weekly and 15% for monthly stays.

Very private and quiet! A great find! Very clean and the air conditioning works great. Close to plenty of great restaurants, our favorite being Delmar Public House. Great hiking too, especially at the nearby Nature Institute.

Rustic and comfortable.

It was comfortable. The stirs to the bedroom were tricky because I have two artificial knees, but the beds were comfortable and the rooms were a nice size. We enjoyed the grill and the beautiful setting. We would stay here again.

MS River View

Really enjoyed the privacy, country type setting and view of Mississippi. Lots of history in this area and did a lot of touring each day. It was a perfect spot to return to for relaxation.

River overlook

This little cottage type home was perfect for our family. We only stayed one night. But, it had everything we needed. And, we woke up to a BEAUTIFUL view of the Mississippi River. The owner was great as well.

Relaxing atmosphere

Convenient location to many activities. Much better location than a hotel for our family to enjoy a getaway while in town for a dance competition. Plenty of kitchen supplies to cook a nice meal as well as grill! Beds were very comfortable. Only considerations I would add to description is shower ceiling is a little low for tall people and the driveway is steep (wasn't a problem for our SUV). We would definitely stay again if we are in the area!

Much needed time away from the hustle and bustle.

We absolutely loved our stay. It's so peaceful out there and the cottage felt like home. We spent some time just sitting outside and walking around the property. There's a lot of animals roaming around. We went to Alton and to Grafton for sightseeing and activities. It's a nice little hideaway that's not too far from activities. It was perfect.

Just what we needed

Lane house was just perfect for what we needed, it allowed us to relax and just enjoy the moment while we visited the area for my son's graduation. The property was gorgeous and the house had everything we needed and more. The host was very helpful as my phone lost service upon arrival and I was unable to access the detailed directions i'd been given, so I called and she guided me right to it.

Cozy and clean

We loved the peace and quiet. The beds were very comfortable. In the picture you see the steps down to the house and in the directions it mentions the stairs. This plump, arthritic granny did not note those two things. Still I would be happy to go back

Mother and Daughter getaway

We really enjoyed the cabin. It was exactly what we needed. Super cute and perfectly secluded back in the woods. The short walk down to the cabin from where you park isnt for anyone with any handicap. The stairs going up to the bedroom were angled and not to my liking (as im getting older). Solitude.

Completely alone at the end of the road. Acres of beautiful land with thick forest on 3 sides. A short walk to an overview of the Mississippi River. The cottage is old school but has all that is needed. Stove, oven, coffee maker, toaster, blender, pots, pans, ect. Bed and pillows were very comfortable.

Cute cabin on gorgeous backdrop

We had an amazing time at The Lane House! We wanted a country setting to come back to after spending each day in the city...and it definitely did NOT disappoint. It was very clean and the communication between the owner, property manager and ourselves was very quick. My kiddos loved being able to run around outside and explore the woods. It really is a beautiful place. We had to travel a ways back and forth from the city, but for us, that was the beauty of this trip and we enjoyed every minute of it. Thank you for extending the hospitality. Our little family had a great mini weekend getaway!

The house was clean and simple and quiet - just what we needed. My favorite part was the porch in the mornings. We enjoyed slow quiet mornings with our coffee, watching the birds and deer. The only downside was there wasn't a washing machine and I like to wash some dirty clothes when we travel to go easy on myself when we get back home. The beds were very comfortable too. We did end up borrowing more fans from my family since one bedroom upstairs has no AC - but it was fine and didn't give us any negative experience. I would absolutely stay again!

It was nice, quiet, and secluded. We were there for a fishing trip so it was perfect for what we were looking for. The owners were very easy to get a hold of. The place was very clean and the air worked great.

August 14th-18th! We had a wonderful weekend with our best friends. Visited the Arch, Riverboat dinner cruise, Budweiser Production tour and drove to Boonville to Warm Springs ranch!!! The cabin was awesome and found it clean and comfortable. It had everything we needed. Enjoyed a visit with the neighbor lady who’s family/owner of property. She shared some history about the property (very interesting) A great big thank you from our Ohio gang!

This cabin is such a neat property. We loved staying here. An older property but with modern updates to make the stay feel like home. The A/C works really well downstairs and in 1 bedroom but the other one stays pretty warm, definitely not a deal breaker but just something to know. We loved the “unplugged” style; only 1 tv in the living area with dvds to watch and no WiFi (the phone service is good). We saw 3 eagles, 1 doe, 2 fawns, several turkeys, opossums, and bunnies. Easy access to Godfrey, Alton, Grafton and St Louis. We stayed here with our 2 littles (youngest in a playpen in the dining room) and it was perfect for us. We would definitely stay here again. Thanks Pam! We really enjoyed your old house.
