Sunset Haven Rental

Cozy suite, this location provides the very best of the outdoors for cottaging enthusiasts 45 minutes from the GTA. Found on the outskirts of Port Perry near the Blue Heron Casino and on the shores of Lake Scugog, you will find great fishing, swimming, and boating at your doorstep. Also great lounging on the deck/dock! The casino is 5 min drive and the town of Port Perry with its good restaurants and shopping is 10 min car ride or take your boat! Unfortunately, no pets are allowed by guests.

Besides the great fishing, swimming, and boating we also offer 2 sea kayaks, for your pleasure.
We are a 10-minute stroll to Goretsky's Marina where you will find a harbour-side food trucks, and a place to launch your boat if you have one; during business hours.
If you would like to shop or are looking for other dining opportunities the town of Port Perry will provide what you are looking for and more. Just a short 10-minute drive by either car, or you can take your boat to the public docks in the heart of town.
Feeling lucky? Venture a short 5-minute car ride up to the Blue Heron Casino and try a large variety of games of chance.
You can easily drive to the cottage on well-paved roads. There is ample parking on the new driveway. A gentle slope leads you to the suite that is perched over the lake for fantastic views and spectacular sunsets. Gentle stairs lead you down to the dock where you can put your boat (if you have one) on the lift that is available to you.
As the host to this little piece of heaven, I will always try to greet the guests when they arrive and set them up for their stay. For short stays during non-peak times we will try to be here for your arrival and give you a tour. Arrangements will be on a case-by-case basis. During your stay, I will be available by phone or my wife Stacey will be. Check-out will be discussed as part of your check-in procedure.

Unfortunately, we no longer accept pets at the property.

A Lift is available to you and for your boat at our dock if you would like to bring one. Just let us know in advance.

If you like to fish make sure you have a fishing license. This is easily attainable in Port Perry at the Canadian Tire store. You can follow the following link to sign up online. www.ontario.ca/page/fishing-licence-canadian-residents
The lake is prolific and holds Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Muskie, Crappie, Perch, and Carp for your angling pleasure.

Stacey and I have been hosts for a long time. We started with hosting exchange students when we lived and Vancouver BC and became cottage hosts when we moved back to Ontario. Our current property has private suite/deck as part of the house with its own entrance and a small cottage that will be available very soon.
We love being hosts as we get to share our lovely location with people from all over the world!

Why they chose this property

We love being connected to nature and this location provides a lakeside retreat with access to a large lake for boating, fishing and traveling the Trent Severen Waterway. Walking is a great option from this site along with cycling.

What makes this property unique

The combination of our travel experience and the fact that we have lived and experienced many parts of this world allows us to understand what travelers may want to see and experience from this lakeside retreat. You can be active and walk, swim kayak or go fishing, but you can lounge with the best of them on your private deck, access to the beach and enjoy a lakeside fire while you view one of our spectacular sunsets. We feel it is also a great spot for the first time traveler to Ontario. You can easily access the highways with your car and visit Toronto for the day, travel to see the many sites in southern Ontario that makes this region world famous.
