Welcome! Enjoy time with family and friends at this beautiful lakefront property on Birch Lake. The lake has 15 miles of shoreline and a maximum depth of 45 feet. Good fishing is available on Birch Lake for northern pike, walleye, crappie, and largemouth bass. This lake is known for producing some quality walleye. Other fish include bluegill, rock bass, and perch.
The main house is a charming updated 1400 square foot home with 3 bedrooms and a sleeping capacity of 6. There is a gas fireplace in the living room to enjoy the coziness on a cool evening, or a spacious large deck on the lakeside to enjoy an evening outside in the warmer months. The main house also includes a fully equipped kitchen, 2 bathrooms, and a spectacular view of Birch Lake! The adorable guest house is available in the spring, summer, and fall, and is 500 square feet, featuring two bedrooms, with a capacity of 6 guests, a TV player, a full bathroom, and a kitchenette. We are just a few miles away from the Paul Bunyan state trails for snowmobiles and/or walking trails, Public Water access to launch your boat for water recreation and fishing. Depending on the weather, the dock, kayaks, canoe lily pad and grill, and outdoor seating will only be available; typically from May 10th to September 15th.
Summer Pontoons rentals are available, as well. Call Cody at 218-820-3201. Hackensack also has a great store to rent electric bikes in town. If you are in need of a boat rental please ask.
Please, no more than 2 dogs on leashes at all times on the property. No cats allowed. All guests on the property must be listed. No additional guests or pets are allowed. If there are additional guests or pets, you will be asked to leave with no refund given.
*There is no room for Campers or RVs on the property.
Check-in time is 5 PM. Check-out time is strictly 10 AM so that we can turn over the cabin for the next guests arriving. Every thirty minutes after 10 AM you will be charged fifty dollars per half hour. A rental agreement and liability forms must be signed 24 after the confirmed reservation. We do have steps to get to the lake. We do have steps to get to guest house.

The host requires you to complete the following before checking out:
Load and start the dishwasher
Gather used towels
Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks and take out the rubbish
Turn off the lights and lock the doors
Please take all garbage out to bin by front of driveway and close the cover on Wednesday night and check out day. Cleaning staff will enter the house at 10 am . Everyone must be out at 10 am .
Make sure any pots and pans used are clean and placed back.
Leave linen on beds with pillows. All dirty towels on bathroom floor. Any extra blankets or linens used that were not on a bed please place on the bathroom floor so we can get them cleaned.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
Please take the garbage out Wednesday and when you check out at 10am. No fireworks. Cleaning staff will enter at 10am check out. AC not go below 73

This house is perfect for all ages! It was nice to have the guest house for the kids to hang out in and watch movies during our rainy days, along with the garage full of games. We had a great time!

We loved the guest house for our extended family....good for privacy. There are many amenities including kayaks, games, splash mat, canoes. It has a bit of a climb from house to lake.

Perfect Up North Getaway

This place was perfect for our two families. The spaces were clean, the setting is beautiful, and everything was in great working order. We stayed during some super hot days, and the AC kept the indoors very comfortable (both buildings). Lots of great things about this property, but the location was superb. Birch Lake was a beautiful lake to fish and boat on, and even though the property feels very private, you are only 5 miles from town. I would definitely stay here again!

Annual Family Vacay

We stayed the 2nd week of July, the weather was perfect! Our ages ranged from 2 1/2 to 65, three small grandchildren & 7 adults and 2 pets. Everyone appreciated the amenities this property afforded us. We all had a great time and did not want to leave. We were able to dock 3 boats, swam, fished, snorkeled, water skied, kayaked and played on the bank of the lake and in the yard. The hard sandy bottom and clean water lake is a must for our group! We enjoyed time on the large lakeside deck and ate most of our meals there taking in the beautiful view of Birch Lake. Thank you Julie for your attention to detail, thoughtfulness and our pleasant communications. We highly recommend this property, found it to be very accommodating and as advertised!

Wonderful Up North Property

Our family rents a cabin every week for the 4th of July. This property did not disappoint. There is plenty of space with 5 bedrooms between the main house and bunk house. There are plenty of games in the garage and house for rainy days. The beach area and lake are gorgeous. Birch lake is truly a gem. Owners are excellent in communication; the entire rental was seamless and easy. Will definitely be coming back

Family gathering

The property was amazing. Lots of beds for everyone. The kitchen was stocked with plenty of dishes, silverware, pots, and pans. There were kayaks and a canoe that our Gen Zs loved. Nighttime campfires were the best. Julie is an amazing host and the most communicative in my experience with rentals. No one wanted to leave as it was such a great time. We will definitely be back!

Great property, host was even better.

We found the two houses to be quite nice. An unusually good selection of cooking equipment. Towels and linens were clean and not frayed. Found supplies and things that we never see in a rental. Lake view was very nice. The property had a nice dock, several kayaks and a canoe, all of which were used heavily by the family. There was also a game room and fire pit, which we used less frequently. Several issues came up, but the host dealt with them immediately. This is the first VRBO rental, where the host seemed genuinely concerned that we have a good time. Could not ask for more from her. Would definitely recommend this property!!!

Our Great Vacation

We all loved staying at this property. You can look down at the lakefront from the comfy rockers inside or from the beautiful, huge, new deck (that extends along the whole front of the home) or from the grassy slope halfway to the lake or on the study dock. The home is located on a bay in Birch Lake which opens into big Birch Lake and then into little Birch Lake, plenty of room for fishing, boating, skiing, etc. The home is spacious with a large dining table with 8 chairs, a large sectional (very comfy), a futon, above mentioned rockers, three bedrooms and two full baths. The kitchen is stocked with plenty of dishes, silverware and good pots & pans. You will find everything you might need for cooking here. We also rented the guest house for additional family members and it was perfect: two more bedrooms and another bathroom. The garage holds ping-pong, pool table, foozball, basketball and more. We enjoyed it all while it rained outside. We all want to come back to this lake house. It is perfect for us.

Wonderful family cabin getaway

We stayed here with our immediate family (2 adults, 3 kids) and my MIL and FIL. The bunk house was a nice option to give us more space and room to spread out. The A/C and dishwasher work well and the beds were comfortable -- all of which often seem to be lacking in many VRBOs. The A/C kept up with temps near 100. Kitchen is well-stocked with cooking utensils, pots and pans, etc. The lake is great for swimming and water sports, decent fishing and the bottom near the shoreline is sandy. The cabin is located on a smaller bay with less boat traffic than the main lake, which also meant that even on windy days we could swim easily right off the dock. Owner has 5 kayaks available for use that we utilized nearly every day. Paddling out to enjoy the sunset after dinner was a big hit with my kids. Owner has plenty of life jackets of all sizes available if you need them. Owner was extremely responsive when a few issues came up and addressed them immediately. 100% would stay here again.

The property matched the description and everything was CLEAN! The kitchen had pots/pans/utensils/small appliances that anyone would need to make and serve meals. The large knotty pine dining table & chairs seats the occupancy of this property very comfortably. The kitchen/living area are open with gorgeous view of lake and are furnished perfectly. The spacious deck was convenient and very nicely furnished. The bedrooms were exactly as described/shown in pictures. Immaculate is how I describe this property when we arrived! Everything about this property was comfortable – the floor plan, the beds and bedding, the furnishings, the supplies, the location and AMENITIES! The garage/game room was also as described! There is something for everyone in this above and beyond bonus area! All the items to have fun in the lake were also as described. The dock is in excellent condition. We loved the location of this property. Birch Lake is wonderful for fishing and recreation. Communication and arrangements were very quick easy with this owner.

Amazing getaway!!!!

I don't know where to start! We just spent the most amazing week at this beautiful home!! You literally just bring clothes (I guess optional to lol!) Food and clothes are all you truly need. Full kitchen completely stocked with everything you could possibly need to prepare meals. And huge all log dining room table to gather together at mealtime! Rooms all have cozy blankets and more than enough pillows! Bath towels and beach towels along with shampoo and conditioner and bars of soap! Plenty of hot water! 3 of us stayed in the guest house and even with back to back showers the water stayed hot! Air conditioning was superb! Especially since we were there for a few of the 90 degree days! The swimming are is perfect! Sandy bottom and easy to enter the water. The dock is great for tying off boats of any size! There is a huge swimming lily pad for everyone to enjoy. I loved laying out in the sun on it. Room for at least 4 adults! In the garage there is a game room with pool table, pingpong, basketball, foosball and even a bag game! Everything was perfect! Can't wait to go back again soon! Thank you Julie for you prompt response to any questions I called to bother you about! :) You have a beautiful, quiet and private place on a great lake! Peaceful family getaway!

Great layout and size for the 14 of us. Loved the peace and quiet and privacy of our own property. Wish more sand beach for little ones to play and option to have a boat available with house. Enjoyed the dock, but especially the great view from the deck and spaciousness with plenty of seating and tables. Appreciated the availability of laundry facilities. Utilized many of the garage games daily. Thoroughly enjoyed fire ring. Will definitely consider a return stay.

Pre-wedding family reunion

Our stay was wonderful. We had a large extended family all staying together. Ages from 2-70 years old and it was perfect for everyone. The pictures provided do not do this place justice. It was much nicer than expected. Lots to do. And everything provided there to have an amazing time! Julie is super easy to get ahold of if you need anything. Highly recommend this place!

Lakeside stay for large family and pets

Stayed with 4 adult couples, 1 infant, and 2 dogs with plenty of room for all. Full kitchen meant we could stay without going into town. Lake shore was very swimmable, less weedy than most cabin lakes. Used the canoes and kayaks a lot. Life jackets for all sizes. Nice big porch facing the lake where we ate all our meals and hung out. Watched eagles, osprey and loons. Lovely weekend. Host was responsive and flexible. Greatly appreciated.

Unique Property!

We had a great stay at this property! It was peaceful and private and the view of the island was so beautiful! We had everything we could have possibly needed in the house and lots of extras like water toys and games both inside and in the garage! The property manager was wonderful and super attentive; she responded within minutes each time we had a question. The only thing we were disappointed in was the swimming. The lake is beautiful and clear but weedier than we were expecting. There are a few weed-free areas close to the dock but the bottom was sort of mucky. We just ended up using more floats and doing less swimming than we’d hoped. The climb down to the lake is steep but there is a sturdy handrail...totally fine for most but may be trickier for youngsters or older people. Overall we had a great experience and lots of fun...don’t hesitate to rent!

My family and I stayed here as a cabin getaway and had an incredible time, the property is well maintained and has excellent views and amenities, including canoes and kayaks which the kids loved. The dock made for some great outdoor memories, we are overall tremendously satisfied with our stay here and would very much like to return!

This is a unique property that has a guest home also available at the listed price so you get two for one. The main house offers three bedrooms two bathrooms and a kitchen, and a living room with great views. The guest house offers 2 bedrooms and a full bath with a kitchenette. Kayaks, Lily Pad, and Garages are available May to 9-28. Must sign liability forms one month before check-in to use kayaks, and lily pad. The main house will be open all year. We are just a few miles from the Paul Bunyan Trail. The local stores are just a few miles and great restaurants are just a few miles away.

On Beautiful, Birch Lake is in our backyard. Nice Fire pit ready for s' mores. Kayaks and lily pad ready for swimming or fishing. Our property is great for large families that need more space. Our backyard is peaceful and beautiful. Many parking spaces are available. Birch Lake, Hackensack, Minnesota is a 1284-acre lake that has 14 miles of shoreline and a maximum depth of 45 feet. This lake is primarily managed for northern pike and walleye and secondarily for bluegill, largemouth bass, black crappie, and yellow perch. The lake property owners of Birch Lake homes and Birch lake cabins in Hackensack enjoy an added bonus. After spending a day enjoying their lake property, they can boat into town, park at the city docks, and enjoy a great meal at one of the restaurants in town. Birch Lake has many areas of excellent sand shoreline and many older cabins sitting right on the waterfront. Birch Lake is a fun lake to put your boat in at the city docks and take a slow cruise around. We do have cameras outside the house. Please be aware of wildlife and do not leave any food out.
