About this property
Casa Vista Castillo: Unique Cliff-Edge House with Amazing 180º Views!
Perched on the famous cliff-edge of historic Arcos de la Frontera, our unique 2 bedroom, self-catering duplex apartment is located in the heart of the Old Town and enjoys uninterrupted views of the town´s Moorish Castle (from which the house takes its name, Casa Vista Castillo), spectacular birdlife and surrounding countryside.
Forming part of a traditional Andalusian Patio House of Moorish origin, our apartment offers a large open plan sitting room/dining room/kitchen with hints of Al Andalus, 4 metre high ceilings with original beams from which hang 2 huge Moroccan lanterns. There is air-con, which doubles as a heater, in this area.
The private terrace is accessed via 2 French windows and offers breathtaking views of Arcos' Moorish castle, beautiful birdlife, the River Guadalete and orange groves below. No matter how many times we´ve seen it, the view always takes our breath away!
There are 2 bedrooms, one with a double bed on the ground floor, a twin bedroom with 2 single beds reached via a short spiral staircase and each has an electric ceramic wall panel for heating in the winter and fans in the summer. We provide a single sofa bed for a 5th guest in the sitting room area.
The property has free wifi.
The house offers a well equipped kitchen with ceramic hob and electric oven, microwave, kettle, toaster, small fridge freezer and washing machine. There is a hairdryer, iron and ironing board, clothes line and clothes horse and pegs.
The bathroom has a large walk-in shower, stylish basin and lavatory and electric towel rail...very useful in the cooler months. Here you´ll find your bath towels, hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner and shower gel.
We provide all bedding, bath towels and even beach towels in the summer.
The house is located in a pedestrianized street in the heart of the Old Quarter, and whilst quiet and private, lively bars and shops are literally a stone's throw away as are the historic monuments of the town.
Arcos itself makes a great base for exploring other parts of the region, with Ronda just 55 minutes drive away, the Sierra 30 minutes, Seville about 1 hour, Jerez de la Frontera just 25 minutes and Cadiz and the coast 45 minutes.
Parking in the Old Quarter is very restricted due to the ancient layout, certainly not built with the car in mind! We offer our guests the use of a guaranteed private car parking space at a cost of 7€ per day, which is approximately a 7-10 minute walk from the house. Please just let us know if you would like it in advance of your stay.
Named as '1000 Places To See Before You Die' in the bestselling Travel Guide by Patricia Schultz, make Arcos part of your travel itinerary.
We have been welcoming guests from around the world for many years.
We took a break from hosting during the Global Pandemic and then did some renovations to the house, but are now back up and running again!
We look forward to giving you a warm welcome to Casa Vista Castillo and to Arcos de la Frontera!

About the host
Hosted by Isabelle García

We came, we saw and we bought the house on our first visit to Arcos de la Frontera on a dismal April day back in 2003! We had been searching all over Andalucía and knew this was 'the one', despite it needing a total re-vamp. We love Arcos so much we´ve now made it our permanent home and in 2016, our son was born here.
Why they chose this property
Arcos is a beautiful, historic town dramatically perched on an in-land ridge of sandstone. The Old Quarter´s layout is still based on the Arab architecture of 1000 years ago and the origins of many of the houses, including, Casa Vista Castillo, date back to this early period. In fact the first houses to be built on the peña are in the area where Casa Vista Castillo is located, the flattest and highest part of the ridge.
It could be argued that just about everyone who has come here has decided to stay, from Greeks, Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Romans, Visigoths, Arabs and Berbers.
The atmosphere today is relaxed, the people friendly and it has the benefit of being located in the centre of Cadiz Province, which makes it a fantastic base from which to go exploring.
We have easy access to the unspoilt beaches of the Costa de la Luz, from hideaway coves to big open beaches, ancient cities, Roman ruins, monuments, sherry houses and horse shows. Arcos is also blessed to have the Sierra de Cadiz sitting just behind the town, taking you into the 'pueblos blancos' of the mountains, a different experience in an unforgettable setting.
Arcos is not overrun by tourism, it still has an easy charm, is authentically 'andaluz' and is generous in its welcome to visitors to share in its delights!

What makes this property unique
As soon as we saw this house, the open views and fantastic location, we know it was for us! Whilst it´s position makes you feel 'away from it all', it is based in the heart of Arcos´ Old Quarter, in the oldest section at the very top of the cliff on the flat: everything you could want is a stone´s throw from the house, from monuments, shops & bars to restaurants. But, despite being near all the action, the beauty of the house is that it is so quiet it´s easy to forget about the world outside. Some of our guests, after a lot of travelling around Spain, decide to simply stay put, enjoy the view and really chill-out! Others are out and about, searching out every nook and cranny that Arcos and the province have to offer.
Even now, over 20 years since we first came here, we are still drawn in by the views and atmosphere of this house.
