    Haleakala Sunrise Home, Kula, Maui, Hawaii

    This is a large, two story house with the owners living in part. You have a private entrance, one bedroom and full, private bathroom plus decks front and back.
    Located at 2600 ft elevation on the west slope of Haleakala, this is a quiet neighborhood with great views of the ocean and the mountains. There are no kitchen or laundry services, and our licensing prohibits us serving food. However, we provide a small refrigerator, microwave, toaster, coffee maker and all the fixings and a variety of teas for your enjoyment.

    NOTE: If you are planning on visiting Haleakala for sunrise, you must make a reservation 60 days in advance with the National Park Service.
    Also, visiting the Black Sand Beach in Hana now requires a reservation 30 days in advance at GoWainapanapa.com

    Absolutely lovely rental with comfortable lounging spaces, loads of views from the slope of Haleakala, quiet (well, those francolins are a bit insistent!) and clean. If you like cool nights and feeling like you are close to the stars, this is the place to be! The bedroom is on the second floor, so must be good with stairs, but it's such a nice retreat. Easy location to get to and from, and the hosts were excellent.

    Lovely upcountry property. Peaceful, with stunning views both up Haleakalā and down towards West Maui. The hosts were very responsive to every need (not that there were many). They had thought of so many lovely little touches.Highly recommend!

    The view from the deck was amazing. You can see down to the water in one direction and to the top of the mountain in the other. Our primary goal on this visit was to go to the National Park and this property was well located for that. It was also very quiet and the hosts are super nice.

    Clean, spacious, an outstanding view, and welcoming owners. Short drives to good food (we enjoyed Grandma's for breakfast, and could get to Pukalani, Makawao, or Paia easily.) Haleakala is close. Private, quiet - a great break from the crowds. We thoroughly enjoyed staying here!

    We had a great time at this amazing location. Steve and Diane were wonderful hosts, and the accommodations were outstanding. We enjoyed both East and West views from our space, and we enjoyed the cool temperatures during the day and at night (great sleeping weather!). We had no issues with the lack of a kitchen. The refrigerator and microwave were more than sufficient, and Diane recommended several great restaurants in the area.We would definitely stay again if we have the opportunity.

    This unique home is the perfect getaway for anyone interested in getting away from it all, and or for needing easy access to the national park. Beautifully decorated, perfect for sunrise or sunset views of the island. Hosts are amazing, room is so very comfortable, and home is very welcoming! Highly recommend staying here!!!

    Easy booking, great communication throughout, bird’s eye view up to Heleakala and down to the coast depending on which rooftop perch you take. VERY comfortable accommodations with lovely hosts. Their recommendation of Kula Bistro close by was spot on for two hungry travelers after driving the beautiful southern route from Hana. A perfect ending for our last night in Maui!

    This is an excellent location for Haleakalā sunrise and also the back road to Hana. I highly recommend leaving early and doing the back road to Hana, it was amazing to have the road basically to yourself until you reach PipiWai Trail. As for the property, it is beautiful and clean and the views are lovely. Delightful hosts. But honestly the setup is a bit odd-you can really hear every little thing the hosts are doing in the kitchen, so it isn’t truly private. Just a flimsy plastic door separates you in the downstairs. And the only available sink is the bathroom sink so if you want to rinse off dishes you use or fill your hiking water bladder, etc, you use the bathroom sink. So it’s a nice place but I wouldn’t stay more than two nights.

    The location of this home is perfect for Upcountry! Wish we had chosen to stay there another night or 2 as it’s also very convenient to the things we did in Paia. The area is gorgeous! The home sits on the side of the mountain with a gorgeous East and West view! The hosts were amazing as well!

    Beautiful Maui home with great access to Haleakala

    Beautiful home, beautiful views of the island coasts and great place for access the Haleakala Sunrise. The hosts were outstanding, with great recommendations about the island. Every amenity was provided and we really appreciated that hospitality. This is a great stay and we would return again!

    Beautiful views, clean cute thoughtful spacious home. Hosts were kind and I enjoyed chatting with them. I do think it’s worth mentioning that host’s kitchen directly connects to your living space, separated by only a thin blind, so it felt less private than expected. It was fine for me as I was only staying one night, but maybe awkward for some. I enjoyed my stay and would stay again!

    We stayed here on 12/31/25 and were absolutely blown away by the experience. The views were incredible, and being able to watch fireworks light up the island from the property was truly unforgettable. The upper observation deck was a highlight. It was perfect for stargazing and taking in the peaceful surroundings.The host couple was incredibly kind and welcoming, and Steve was especially responsive and helpful in all communications leading up to our stay. Everything about the experience exceeded our expectations, and we would happily stay here again. Highly recommend.
