About this property

40's Tile Mansion w/ Private Pool by Crescent Bend

This stunning, one of a kind home offers a rare glimpse into historic Knoxville. Built in 1940, this home balances vintage charm and upscale modern comfort. With terrazzo floors, original hardwood, and ornate tile work including 24k gold tile, unexpected charm is around every corner. Just across the street from UT and a quick drive to downtown, this location is close to everything. Whether you're in town for a game, downtown visit, wedding, or conference, you're sure to love this special home!

This large, upscale marble house features unique historic character including custom tile, hardwood floors, marble stairs, two kitchen areas, bathrooms with 24k gold tiles, brass inlaid terrazzo flooring, and many other vintage features throughout.

Midcentury modern and industrial style furnishings with moody, earthy textures compliment the existing architectural elements to create comfortable, elegant spaces, perfect for relaxing, entertaining, and making memories together. This home is truly historic, hardwoods that squeak when as you walk and vintage fixtures in bathrooms with floor to ceiling tile that reflect the 1940's era. We've designed this home to be as cozy and comfortable as possible while still preserving all the elements that make it special. We invite you to step back in time in these spaces and hope you enjoy these classic retro characteristics as much as we do!

The charm carries over not only in the unique interior spaces, but outdoors as well, most notably in the large, private backyard. The huge, fully fenced in backyard boasts a massive pool with spacious lounging deck, iron gate, outdoor dining area under string lights, and eclectic mosaic tile sidewalks. Not only is this unique home gorgeous, but the space has been intentionally designed with our guests in mind. Guests can enjoy two large living rooms with Smart TVs, spacious bedrooms, formal dining room, a fully stocked coffee station and pool floats for enjoying the backyard to the fullest. Whether you're spending time inside, enjoying the private backyard, or having a night out on the town, this home is the perfect fit for your Knoxville stay.

Located just off Cumberland/Kingston Pike, the only thing that matches this home's gorgeous display of historic architecture is its ideal location. This home is the most conveniently located high-end rental on the market, within walking distance to Neyland Stadium, Tyson Park, the University of Tennessee campus, downtown Knoxville, Market Square, World's Fair Park, and the Tennessee River. Walk to brunch downtown or grab a beer at one of several bars close by. Go for a job down the Tennessee River or visit the Tennessee Botanical Gardens off Neyland Drive. Graduation weekend
10 people (family) stayed in house for a December graduation weekend. First the pros--house was in a great location and there was ample parking (we had lots of cars) and the common areas were spacious. Unfortunately there are a lot of cons--we had 10 and while it said it slept 12, that would assume anyone would sleep on 2 chair sleepers that were absolutely nothing but springs -- unsleepable. We also had to call to get enough sheets, towels and blankets. The house is drafty and has uneven heating (expected in an old house) but the fact that not all beds had more than a thin coverlet in December was problematic--they had to buy us blankets. No door on primary bathroom (not fun to hear your partner using the bathroom at all hours), door to laundry room unexpectedly locked and it took us hours to get a code to open it--we had stuff for dinner locked in the second fridge (2nd fridge is a pro, random locking doors is a con). Gas fireplace didn't work (tbf we didn't ask for help but as we have the same set up at home, we knew how to work it, but it just didn't). There were a lot of things the owners described as "quirks" and "charm" of an old house, which, to a point, is fair, but personally I don't consider a ceiling that looks like it could fall on someone any minute a "quirk"--just get someone to fix it while maintaining the "charm". Overall, I would have liked to have given a 3.5 but I can't go as high as a 4 because of all the issues.

Delightful stay at the “Tile House”!
Our stay was fantastic! The location is perfect with great access to the University of Tennessee campus. We did have a small issue with the heat and fireplace but a phone call to Mike quickly brought him to the property to resolve our difficulty. Would definitely rebook this property!!!

Beautiful house
The house was stunning with tons of space. Very cool old architecture but with some modern updates like A/C, appliances, Wi-Fi, TV's. Plenty of towels, sheets, kitchenware, etc and check-in/out was a breeze. No issues at all. Would love to return when back in the area!

Awesome family house
This is a great home for gathering with family or friends. It's close to the UT campus and a quick drive to downtown Knoxville. There's plenty of room to relax together and the back yard/ pool were so nice for enjoying the weather. It's clean and has pretty, historic features. I believe the listing says one bedroom has 2 king size beds but the bedrooms are 2 with king beds and adjoining bathroom and 2 bedrooms (1 has a queen bed and the other has 2 twins) with a jack and jill bath. We hope to return!
