The Sandy river ski house is located in a quiet and peaceful older neighborhood in Brightwood/Welches, within the shadows of Mount Hood. The property is located on the Sandy river. Many places to sit and relax among the beautiful tall fir trees on the property.
You can hear the rushing river 200' from the house, only a short walk to the waters edge, easy to just sit and enjoy the river. This is a NO SMOKING property.


Summer hiking: Very easy driving to many excellent hiking trails surrounding Mount Hood.

Travel to Ski Bowl for summer fun on the Alpine Slide and other summer attractions.

Easy driving to all 5 Mount Hood Ski areas (Timberline, Ski Bowl, Mount Hood Meadows, Summit, Cooper Spur)

3 & 4 night minimum stays for Holiday Weekends, We welcome your pets, $40 fee per pet for your stay.
Only registered guests are allowed in the house or on the property.

Sandy River Ski House was perfect for our family's stay in the area. We were so delighted with the outdoor space and ate most of our meals at the picnic table and spent a good deal of time relaxing by the private access to Sandy River. The location of the house was so convenient to Thriftway and several eateries and coffee shops as well as all the places we wanted to explore - Mt Hood/Timberline Lodge, Old Salmon River Trail and Trillium Lake were a few of our favorites.The beds were comfortable, the hot tub was very clean, the house was well labeled and David was extremely helpful with recommendations and answering any questions I had. Highly recommend!

Clean, Comfy & Quiet – A Perfect Mountain Getaway

We had such a great stay here! Super clean and comfortable. We all felt at home right away. The hot tub was clean and toasty, simply splendid. This was great in the evening after a long day of hiking. We loved the nature path down to the river area. The down comforters were super cozy, and mornings with coffee on the front porch and birds singing… couldn’t ask for it better. Quiet, relaxing, and just a really beautiful place. Highly recommend!

Perfect for a Family Getaway

Loved this house! Spacious and well stocked kitchen for all our needs. Lovely surroundings. Hot tub was a real hit. Lots of space for entire family and privacy in 3 bedrooms. We will definitely be back!!

Quiet and clean

We had a lovely stay at this quiet, clean and cozy home nestled in the woods by the river. The layout was perfect for our family. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook and bake and the grocery store was a quick jaunt away. We enjoyed the hot tub too!

Great location

We enjoyed our stay very much. The house was very well-located for our planned activities. He provided a wonderful list of nearby hikes and waterfalls, which we used to supplement our own plans. Close enough to Portland for a day trip, but I'd recommend taking the train from Gresham, if you're going to a Thorns/Timbers game (but you should definitely go!).

Wonderful Stay

We wanted a spot for a quick getaway for the weekend. We were lucky to find this place. The furniture was in great shape, the bed was wonderful. The kitchen was well equipped, even good sized bowls for our pup. David provided great instructions and communication. The walk to the river was lovely and the property peaceful. Looking forward to staying again.

Mt Hood Ski home

We loved the location; far enough from getting snowed in, close to excellent restaurants and services, no highway traffic noise, beautiful location. Our host was informative and made us very welcome. The home is large and well set up for a large family or three couples. I will definitely choose this home again for future trips to the Mt Hood area.

Amazing house & location

This was our first time visiting this house.. the pictures on line shunt do it justice..very spacious home with on open floor plan. The own David was always quick to respond to any concerns we had while there. Well definitely rent from him again! Great location just off hwy 26 !!

Cozy house

House was well equipped and clean. Bedrooms comfortable. Inside is a bit dark in summer but can see how cozy this house would be in winter. Enjoyed the trail to the river and hot tub. Would have loved more comfortable furniture on the deck area, but loved all the log tables.

Great place!

We had an excellent time! The house had all the amenities that we required and more. Perfect for people who need to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life, but without the compromise. Super clean place and the hot tub was great to come back to after a long day of skiing and adventures. We enjoyed the quietness of the location, as well as the not-so-secret short path to the riverbank (we sat there for lunch!). Host was friendly, helpful, and provided a list of recommendation of things to do. Highly recommended!

Great Home Base to Explore Mt. Hood Area

This was a great and spacious home for our family to spend time visiting the Mt. Hood area. It’s tucked away in a quiet wooded neighborhood and perfect for those looking for some peace and quiet. David had lots of resources about hikes, restaurants and other things to do right at your fingertips. Also perfectly located… Close to restaurants and grocery as well as hiking trails and not far from Government Camp and Portland. Master bed and pillows were super comfortable. We loved all the outdoor spaces and access to the river. Would definitely stay here again!

Felt at home

Comfy, great location, clean. It’s very easy to settle into this lovely riverside home. We spent our Christmas here and were welcomed by a lit up Christmas tree right in the entrance! It was nice surprise! There’s an easy trail that goes right to the river and the location is perfect for access to Hood. David is great and fun to talk to. You can care he cares a great deal about the property. He even made arrangements for delivering my dogs left bowls!

Wonderful cabin!

Plenty of room both indoors and out for our family of 5 plus two four legged friends. Lots of living space, a well stocked kitchen and a short walk down to a gorgeous river. Host was friendly and readily available to ensure a smooth visit. This cabin was a perfect home base for adventures on Mt. Hood!

This cozy cabin in the woods is spacious, quiet has many places to walk to including the Sandy River.It is a short walk to a secluded cove. We had the best time and David is the best host! He made sure we had everything we needed and then some. We loved this stay and we will miss it.

Relaxing Getaway

We enjoyed a relaxing holiday getaway at the Sandy River Ski House. Just a short drive from the Portland metro area but a world away in terms of peace and quiet: just the sound of the wind in the trees and the gentle waters of the nearby Sandy River. The house is equipped with all the amenities you may need and is easy to find off the main highway. Overall, a great place to unwind, unplug, and connect with nature

Amazing Cabin!!! Best on Mt Hood!

Wonderful Rental! Sparkling Clean. Super nice hottub, right off the Master suite. Shady/Sunny places to sit around the quiet yard, meadow and river. Lots of extras. Host had great recommendations. What a sweet retreat.

What a Beautiful Home

What a beautiful stay. We loved the hot tub and the clear partial awning to view the night sky while listening to the river sounds. This place is great! Frosty mugs in freezer. Super clean. Really nice furnishings. Excellent new mattresses. Sleep number bed in master. Plenty of kitchen "stuff" for cooking. A sweet yard to sit in. The cool meadow down back, and an excellent spot by the river. Great host.

Perfect Family Getaway!

This rental exceeded all expectations! The kitchen was completely stocked with everything we needed, and the king-size beds were incredibly comfortable. It's rare to find a rental that truly caters to families.Entertainment:Phenomenal game selection! The large table was perfect for family game nights. Nice mnt house

House was easy to get to, located in a neighborhood. Outdoor space is lovely and hot tub was very nice and clean. This spot might not be the best for families with young kids, there were breakable personal items of the owners that were labeled with very expensive costs to replace.. check out the Wildwood recreation site nearby! Only 4Mins from the house.

Lovely home amongst the trees

A quiet neighborhood, a lovely home with lots to do, a wonderfully well put together vacation home. The hot tub was great and the host was easy to communicate with and allowed us a late checkout which was the perfect compliment to our weekend. He even ordered snow for our stay and the fireplace made lovely ambiance. We loved all the games and cozy blankets and beds and we'd love to come back.

We love to ski, raft, hike, backpack, swim etc.. Friends love to join us at the Sandy River Ski House for fun, relaxation, sitting around the fireplace and in the kitchen making yummy meals.

Why they chose this property

It is next to the river (200') with easy access to all the fun stuff to do on Mount Hood. Just a short 50 minute ride from Portland and we can be sitting on the porch sipping tea and listening to the sounds of the river through the large fir trees.

What makes this property unique

The house is situated in an older quiet and peaceful neighborhood. There is easy access to the main road for all your summer or winter outdoor activities.
