About this property
Beautiful Sloway Cabin by the Clark Fork River
Sloway Cabin, a newer, beautiful log home, sits on twelve acres of meadow and woods that are visited nightly by deer and sometimes by bear, moose and elk. You also can access 7 acres of property along the Clark Fork River, just across the dead-end gravel road from the Cabin.
One hour from Missoula and two from Spokane, the Cabin has very convenient access yet feels like another world--secluded and private. Inside the warmth of the log walls and the high vaulted ceiling create an immediate sense of peace and comfort. At 1,400 sq. ft. the Cabin feels just right-- small enough to be cozy but big enough for everyone. It's the perfect spot for celebrating a birthday, quiet anniversary, or hosting a small family gathering.
Long summer days are for swimming, floating, and fishing the Clark Fork, St. Regis, and Flathead Rivers. To the west, wonderful hiking trails lead to high alpine lakes along Montana/Idaho border. Mountain biking the Hiawatha Trail--over historic (and high!) railroad trestles and through cool dark tunnels--is another favorite. Trestle Creek Golf Course is just 3 miles down the road in St. Regis, where you'll also find two great antique shops.
Should you be able to come in the fall... lucky you! Crisp air, starry nights, and perhaps an evening bonfire. This is the season for more hiking and mountain biking, hunting, antique shopping, and enjoying Quinn's Hot Springs.
After a fun-filled day you'll love hanging out on the Cabin's wrap-around porch. Log rockers invite you to savor the lingering warmth of the sun as you enjoy a cool drink, recount the day's adventures with friends and family, and watch the sun set over the mountains across the river.
No matter what you enjoy at Sloway Cabin the time will pass too quickly. But you're sure to depart feeling relaxed, refreshed, and renewed.
IMPORTANT, Please Note!
The maximum number of guests is six, including kids and adults. Not only is bedding limited (3 queens) but during a dry summer our well is challenged, so the water might run out. The well usually recovers rapidly, but this isn't so great if you're in the middle of a shower!
Sloway is NOT close to Glacier National Park. Glacier's about a 3 hour drive each way, and that's just to the west entrance. And the Cabin is far, far from Yellowstone NP, although the it's a great layover stop if you're heading east.
You can easily google destinations and timing from St. Regis to almost anywhere.
There's a decent grocery store, Darlow's, about 10 miles east in Superior. But to find a good restaurant you'll have to drive 25 miles up highway 135 to Quinn's Hot Springs.
The cabin is not suitable for children under five. It's not child-proof and the loft railings and the stairway balusters are too widely spaced (see photo).
Last minute reservations (booking within two weeks of your stay) are usually not available.
Guest dogs will be considered with adherence to the Cabin's pet policy. Pet rent is $60 per stay.
There are numerous wild animals around the cabin, and sometimes making their way into the cabin! These include mice, bats, rabbits, wasps, etc.
The wifi at the cabin works well for a rural Montana area. There's not much cell range - if you call someone it's best to use wifi calling. Texts go through fine with or without wifi.
Please note pricing is based on # of folks staying at the cabin. Finally, the rate quoted by VRBO/HomeAway is sometimes different from the true price. Please contact me for an accurate quote. Thank you!
Please have a look at the guest comments, visit the Cabin on Facebook, and feel free to contact me for more information. Thanks so much for your interest in Sloway Cabin! It truly is a beautiful place.

About the host
Hosted by Kate Supplee

The cabin is such a treasure and quiet retreat. We love hanging out with friends, enjoying campfires, working on the place, and the great nearby hiking, fishing and skiing. It's been very gratifying to share the Cabin and see the enjoyment and delight it brings to others. It has become a special place to many folks, including guests who come yearly and love the cabin as their own.
Why they chose this property
Mineral County and Sloway, in particular, are undiscovered parts of Western Montana. We love the Cabin's amazing log construction and it's peaceful setting by the Clark Fork River. Our old neighbor Shelley used to say "Sloway has valium in the air!" Sure feels like it's true. Yet it's only an hour's drive from our home in Missoula. Most of Mineral County is public land with public access-- Forest Service, BLM, and Plum Creek. So there's wonderful hiking, biking, and fishing close by.
What makes this property unique
There's so much to do near Sloway, but most folks love simply hanging out and relaxing at the cabin, enjoying the cabin's ambiance and beautiful setting. (And hearing the occasional trains with their signature nostalgic whistle across the River!) People use the cabin to reconnect with family, disconnect from the work-world, and just generally have a wonderful time. It's the perfect place for birthdays, anniversaries, and other special occasions.
Fishing the lower Clark Fork River across the road, enjoying the many uncrowded hiking trails, and biking the tunnels and trestles of the Hiawatha Trail are some favorite activities.
