About this property

Rustic Clam formally known as "Lakeview"...A Cozy Log Cabin Getaway

Rustic Clam is a comfortable 3 bedroom, 1 bath with shower/tub, log vacation cabin located on the wooded shores of Lower Clam Lake. Enjoy the magnificent Northwoods setting in the heart of the Chequamegon National Forest – the West Fork of the Chippewa River flows out of Lower Clam Lake at this location over a logging era rock dam. The cozy deck and large yard with fire pit, grill, twinkle lights, patio furniture, benches for fire pit and picnic table overlook the lake. We recently put in a brand new chain link fence in the back yard as well as new dock and new living room furniture...all in 2022. We have also made several upgrades since purchasing the cabin in 2018, also including new beds in the lower level, futon and brand new flooring throughout and appliances.

There is a private dock and row boat as well as a newer pedal boat included with the cabin rental. You can access the launch for your boat on the side of the property which goes down to the back back and our own private new dock. The property also includes a swing set for children to play.

The property at Rustic Clam is very quiet and has a footbridge that leads to another property. This footbridge is over the mouth of the Chippewa River and offers a tranquil sound of water flowing which you can hear from the cabin and if you have the window opened in the back bedroom, you will fall asleep to this peaceful sound. We are also located on a small back bay which opens up to Lower Clam Lake. There is a small sandy/gravel area next to the dock which is good for kids and allows for wading in the water and while we do not swim in the lake for fear of fish...lol, several of our guests have thrown out floaties and grabbed a cold one in the back bay. I've also seen people out in the main lake swimming from time to time. It is a quiet lake so you will not have much water traffic.

This red pine log cabin contains a living room, fully equipped kitchen, full bathroom, 2 main floor bedrooms with a one queen bed and one full size bed, a loft bedroom with 2 twin beds and futon which sleeps 2. The living room is furnished with a “smart” tv as well as a retro wood burning fireplace. There are also many games, magazines and books available. The kitchen has a microwave, gas stove, full size refrigerator as well as fully stocked with dishes, pots and pans, crock pot, toaster, and just about anything else you need.

We do provide linens but do not provide towels so please be sure to bring your own.

Lower Clam Lake offers good fishing for walleye, musky, crappie and bluegills as well as generally quiet waters for other recreational activities. Clam Lake is conveniently located in the heart of the Chequamegon Forest and offers access to snowmobile, ATV and ski trails as well as many hiking and biking trails. There are numerous lakes and amazing fall colors and variety of wildlife viewing opportunities. Clam Lake is also known as the Elk Capital of Wisconsin and more often than not you will be able to see these majestic animals.

The town of Clam Lake is home to a few bars and restaurants as well as a convenience store / gas station and the surrounding area has some amazing restaurants, bars and good old fashion Wisconsin supper clubs.

We are a pet friendly cabin for well behaved dogs. We recently added a chain link fence out back to keep you fur kids and small children safe. Please be responsible and pick up after your pet as well as keep on a leash when not in the fenced area. The forest is a big place and we’d hate to see your fur baby get lost. We also want to be respectful to neighboring cabins and homes.

Excellent communication
The Rustic Clam is an excellent place for my family to enjoy the Northwoods. This is our 2nd time staying at the Rustic Clam and our whole family looks forward to the visit. The cabin is well equipped for cooking, a great lounging space, and a loft that my 5 and 8 year-old love. Due to the lack of snow and change in our Birkie events, Julie had several suggestions for meals and activities in addition to the outstanding binder of information in the welcome basket. This year we ventured up to Copper Falls State Park and had the entire Doughboy waterfall hike almost to ourselves! Julie has been really quick to answer any questions that we have. Rustic Clam is a gem on VRBO.

Great communication
Had one small issue. As soon as I contacted the home owner she bent over backwards to make it right. Found her to be a lovely hostess and enjoyed our stay. We also saw elk and caught a couple nice muskies from the lake. Thank you for an incredible get away.

Wonderful cabin with our furry friends
My husband and I stayed for a weekend in August with our two dogs and it was the perfect weekend away. The cabin is beautifully done and very welcoming. Having the fenced in backyard for the dogs was the real win for us, I’d highly recommend staying here, my husband and I would book again in a heartbeat.

Fishing trip with friends!
We had a great stay! The cabin is very nice. Beds were comfy. Everyone in the area was helpful with fishing tips. Our only complaint would be there is no air conditioning only fans.

Welcome to our cabin, formally rented as Lakeview by the previous owner. We are newer cabin owners and fell in love with Northern WI area. Dave and Julie live in the St.Paul, MN area and Dave is a CPA/Tax Advisor and Julie a Mortgage Loan Originator. Should you decide to purchase a cabin in the area, please don't hesitate to reach out. Why they chose this property

We loved the charm of owning a log cabin. We liked the quiet lake and the waterfall out back. We looked at several properties and knew the minute we walked in that this was going to be our new cabin.

What makes this property unique

Since our purchase, we have made several updates with new furniture, furnishings, bedding, beds, appliances, dock, well, etc. We are both dog loving people and welcome you bringing your dog(s). The 2 most unique things about our cabin that drew us to it is the footbridge and rushing water that you can hear from the cabin as well as the cool retro fireplace. We also provide a gift basket unique to the people who are staying so please do share about yourselves to us. We hope you enjoy your stay.
