Family Friendly Barndominium in Amish Country (Sleeps 8)

Welcome to Deer Trace Cabins, located in beautiful Amish Country.


Nestled back in the woods this Off the Grid Cabin will allow you to sit back, relax and enjoy the nature surrounding it. Unplug from the technology and enjoy the outdoors, listen to the birds and catch a glimpse of the deer that roam the surrounding woods. Located in the heart of Amish country only minutes away from local towns. So come enjoy the area, grill or smoke some food on the Big Green Egg, sit around a fire, have the kids play outside, or just enjoy the privacy. We hope to see you soon.

The space is one floor with a loft. The main floor has the kitchen, living room, as well as one bedroom, the loft has 2 beds with another room having bunkbeds. There is also a Green Egg smoker on the porch. There is also a fire pit, and picnic table for guest to use. We also have a variety of yard, card and board games as well.

Loved the area, vey private. We had our almost 3 year-old grandson with us. The animals and the playset made it a paradise for him. The firepit was great. Loved, , it. Would definately recomend it to our famiky and friends.

A little bit of heaven on earth

Just a fabulous experience full of excitement and laidback lifestyle for a few short days. The rental was very comfortable and included everything required for a magnificent stay. We especially liked the outdoor fire pit and the unlimited firewood supply provided by the owner. We were also very prepared for our farm animal encounter and brought along carrots and apples for the horse and goat a short walk from our front door. We also had the wonderful opportunity to meet the owners family and children. What a great group of people and hosts.One of the best things was that this rental is in the middle of Holmes County so we had great access to all the great Amish towns such as Walnut Creek and Charm. So if your looking for peace and quiet and want to draw your family closer together than this is the place for you. We hope to be back.

Cute place nearby town

The place was very clean and had everything we needed. It was also very close to town but remote enough to feel like you were living off grid. TIP: if you want to take a bath, it only has hot water. We filled it a little bit and let it sit overnight to turn cold. Then we added hot water to temp. The shower has both though. The animals were very friendly. I was a little concerned about the hooves on the front of the donkey. They needed a trim very badly. I did let the owner know. Hopefully they will address this. I realize it is a small town with different values and that sometimes we fall behind on responsibilities. I would also like to see them enhance the enclosure a bit with perhaps some rocks or concrete or higher gravel so that they can stay out of the moisture and perhaps grind down their hooves naturally. Besides that, the place was great and the property manager was more than accommodating.

Amazing

First off the cabin is beautiful. The donkey and small horse(donkey was my favorite, horse was kids) was an extra bonus and awesome as well. The play area was great and swings for adults to sit and watch. We were a family of 8 and had plenty of room. Stayed nice and cool on the warm day and the heat worked great on the cooler days. Also its solar powered. The owner was super nice and answered any and all questions that I had very quickly and left an AMAZING treat for us when we got there. There was no tv which some people may freak out over but it was nice to just unplug and relax. There was toys for the kids to play with. Our older kids played chess and taught younger ones to also. So i would definitely recommend this place and give it 5 🌟. And will definitely come again. Thank you for having us.

What a great private place to relax and enjoy family, cook or sit by the fire, play some games - just fun! Also so close to everything and convenient. The owners were super nice and helpful. I highly recommend staying here!

Very nice property with a lot of extras (animals, play set for kids, fire pit, and beautiful indoor decorations). The beds and couches were very comfortable! Disappointed with the toilet which needed fixing and having instructions on how to use the electric fireplace, the tv and the wall heater would have been helpful. Even with these couple disappointments, I would stay there again.

A Pleasant Surprise

We booked this cabin at the last minute due to a sudden change in plans. The cabin was far back a private lane and very quiet and isolated. The goats were adorable. The cabin itself was very nice, clean and well stocked with cooking gear. The open floor plan was a little different than usual but really quite nice. The owner was very responsive and arrived quickly when we had a minor issue. He was very friendly and kind. His wife even sent us cupcakes. Overall, a wonderful place, highly recommended.
