Get away from it all at the Big Sky Guest House. Located 15 miles from Downtown Fredericksburg, Big Sky Guest House is the perfect spot to get away from the stress of everyday life. The only traffic jam you'll experience here is when the local cows, goats, or sheep decide the grass really is greener on the other side!

Bring your telescope or your camera to enjoy a night sky unspoiled by the lights of the big city, or just sit out on the front porch with the beverage of your choice and drink it in with your eyes. In the morning, enjoy a cup of coffee or tea on the back landing while you watch the sun come up to the sounds of nature and feel your stress melt away.

Into riding a motorcycle or a bike? Our back roads offer a beautiful ride, with 8.3 miles to Highway 87 and 8.7 miles to Highway 290. For hikers, we are just a short drive (22 miles) to Enchanted Rock.

If you decide you need a little more excitement (and live music), Hilltop Cafe is a mere 10 miles away and in 20 minutes you can be enjoying brisket mac and cheese at Hondo's. Fredericksburg offers a variety of shopping opportunities, the National Museum of the Pacific War, The Pioneer Museum, and many delicious eateries. Multiple Fredericksburg wineries and distilleries are within a short drive, and you can't miss going to Luckenbach for some live music at the dance hall!

The Big Sky Guest House is located on a 28-acre ranch, and your hosts live on property in a separate residence. Feel free to wander! Some of the wildlife you may see: hawks, humming birds, painted buntings and other songbirds, wild turkeys, white tailed deer, fox, roadrunners, jack rabbits, and armadillos. You'll also see and hear the not-so-wild goats, sheep, cows, llamas, and donkeys on neighboring ranches.

The rustic, metal roofed guest house offers:
Bedroom 1: king bed;
Bedroom 2: queen bed and twin-size bunk beds;
1 bathroom with walk-in shower;
Kitchenette including a Keurig coffee maker (we provide pods for coffee and tea), drip coffeemaker (bring your own coffee), toaster oven, microwave, refrigerator/freezer, electric skillet, double burner hot plate. If you prefer to cook outside, there is a gas grill on the back porch. There is a large living/dining area where you can gather to talk about your adventures, as well as a DVD player with 32” smart TV and a selection of DVDs available.

Need to stay connected? Cell service and satellite internet are present. Video conferencing will have latency -FYI.

***NOTE: We provide pillows, sheets, blankets/quilts, and towel sets. However, we know that you may prefer to bring your own pillows, linens, and towels. Not a problem! Just let us know and we will remove the bedding and/or towels. We provide dish soap, hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.

The host requires you to complete the following before checking out:
Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks and take out the rubbish
Please put all used towels in the bathroom hamper. Ensure all dishes and cooking utensils/pans are washed. Put all trash in the can outside the guest house. You do not need to strip the beds.
Ensure you have collected all your personal items and that you have signed out of any streaming accounts on the TV.
Leave the front door unlocked and leave the keys on the table by the front door.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
Guests must return a signed rental agreement and driver license within 7 days of booking (or 3 days prior to arrival date if booking last minute).
Smoking is allowed on the front porch or in the fire pit area. No smoking within the guest house. Children must be supervised at all times.
The guest house is on a septic system - please do not pour anything toxic down drains or flush anything other than toilet paper.

Relaxing getaway

Great place to stay while visiting Fredericksburg. Only a 20 minute scenic drive and you’re away from the hustle and bustle. Beautiful and clean guesthouse. Jenny and Eric have provided nice extra touches-games, toiletries, chocolates, and coffee. Will definitely be back!

Relaxing retreat under the stars.

This was our second time staying at this property and will probably stay here whenever we are in the area. We had everything we needed and sitting by the fire under the stars was a perfect way to end the day. Highly recommend.

Wonderful place!

My kids and I were looking for a place out of town to stay in Fredericksburg for the weekend, this place was perfect! It was beautiful. We loved seeing all the deer and other animals in the area. The place was very clean, beautifully decorated and loaded with everything you might need. Jenny and Eric were wonderful host and took great care of us. I would highly recommend it and would stay there again!

We loved our stay. It was the perfect location for us we had family about 5 miles away. The property was immaculately clean and they provided many great items. They had coffee, toiletries and even made us ice and put water in the fridge. We loved the view, fire pit and longhorn cows walking around. The hosts were very communicative and helpful. Overall it was just a great experience.

Great outdoors.

We had a wonderful stay off the beaten path. The owners were great about communicating with us. They made a birthday weekend extra special. The porch was great for morning coffee. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were spacious. Hummingbirds and longhorns were an added delight.

Great long weekend!

We drove in with our three littles from Houston for a long weekend. The drive is fun as there is a lot of livestock to see that entertained the kids on the country roads. The hosts were very gracious with things like bottled water and firewood and were extremely great communicators prior to and throughout the stay. We enjoyed walking the property with the kids and long camp fires in the evening. We had a great time!

Wonderful Stay!

Our stay at Eric and Jenny’s was for Just one night and we wish it could have been longer. We arrived late after dark and Big Sky lived up to its name. Stars forever and a perfect sunrise over the Texas Hill Country. We enjoyed the candy, coffee, fluffy pillows and check in details as well as the noon checkout. Thanks for making our mom’s wildflower trip memorable for her!

Fantastic Spring Break!

We had a great Spring Break! Jenny and Eric are some of the nicest hosts you will meet. They went above and beyond, gave us great recommendations on activities, restaurants, and towns. The place was immaculate when we arrived and we were greeted by Rocky and Bullwinkle as well. There was an abundance of wildlife and the two best things were the gorgeous night sky and the QUIET! It was amazing. You could hear the bird wings flapping, it was that quiet. Would definitely recommend this place a thousand times over. We will definitely be returning!

Wonderful Experience

This property literally made the trip even more special. The house was very clean and the owners were very nice and helpful. The longhorns where right outside the front area which was amazing! The scenery is definitely a plus with the fire pit. We had access to contact the owners at anytime. We asked for wood and they came in a heartbeat and even started the fire for us. Waking up in the morning hearing all the animals speak to each other was a big plus. I definitely will be renting the house again!

Milky Way Views at Home Away from Home

It was our first trip to Fredericksburg for our annual mother/daughter trip, and we loved the entire weekend. We picked Big Sky based on the views and description, and it didn’t disappoint. Jenny and Eric were amazing hosts with great communications. The cabin was immaculate, with all the small details considered (perfect linens, plenty of towels, toiletries, coffee and tea pods, a first aid kit, and even fresh flowers on the table). Amazing views by day (hills, sunrise, sunset, longhorns, deer, armadillo, cardinals) and even better by night (Milky Way and constellations). We couldn’t have asked for better accommodations. Please note it is a bit out of town. If you plan on running back and forth multiple times each day, it’s going to take up some of your time. If you love to shop and play by day and escape to solitude by night, it’s perfect! For us, it was everything we wanted.

Absolute Serenity

This house was super clean, smelled amazing, and so welcoming. We had everything we needed plus some. Had coffee watching the Longhorns graze every morning. It was such a peaceful place to stay. Thanksgiving Getaway

This was so surprisingly awesome. It is a perfect getaway from suburban life. The owners made us feel like family. The guest house is on their property but far enough away that you feel on your own piece of heaven. We truly enjoy the animal life around us. We will be back (I hope).

Deep in the Heart of Texas

Cottage tucked away in the hills outstanding service, amazing accommodations, and outstanding star gazing views. Never imagine going to bed in completely in silence, while waking up to the sound of counting sheep’s. Priceless!

Came for Oktoberfest, will come back for the breathtaking sky and amazing hosts.

The home is so inviting and comfortable. We really enjoyed our weekend at the property. We spent Saturday in Fredricksburg at Oktoberfest, the drive into town is fun with the winding roads, views and animal sightings. While at the property our family had fun watching and talking to Rocky and Bullwinkle. We also brought our telescope along and were not disappointed with what we could see. The sky is beautiful. Jenny and Eric went above and beyond. We were celebrating our 13 yo birthday and they decorated the table with balloons and flowers, gave her a card and her favorite dessert. She definitely felt special!! They even sent us easy to follow directions. Thank you for being a part of our fantastic weekend getaway.

Beautiful cottage with milky way view

We had a wonderful times staying here for the weekend. Eric and Jennie are very nice host. The cottage is charming, very clean, beautiful sunrise view and you have a beautiful vie of the stars in the night. The check in and check out time are very generous. Will definetely comeback. Cell receptions are very spotty but the wifi are good in the cottage.

Eric and Jenny's guest house is an extremely nice, very comfortable place to stay while exploring Texas hill country and local wineries. They are amazing hosts and excellent communicators about everything related to the stay and the area. We had lots of questions which they very promptly answered. We would highly recommend Eric and Jenny's guest house to anyone wanting to spend some time exploring Texas hill country and enjoy some peace and quiet!

My wife, Jenny, and I are both native Texans, but we have traveled extensively and many of our travels included stays at vacation rentals. We've experienced the good - and the not-so-good. Our goal in renting our guest house is to provide our guests a chance to experience the natural beauty of the Hill Country and a lasting memory of a vacation well-spent.

Why they chose this property

As native Texans, we always knew we wanted to retire outside the big city of Austin. Fredericksburg always called to us, and we were lucky enough to find this property. We fell in love with the view and the quiet. We hope our guests will find it enjoyable as well.

What makes this property unique

If you've never seen the night sky away from the light pollution of the city, now is your chance! There is nothing more relaxing than sitting outside, listening to nature and watching the stars come out - or the sun come up, if you're an early riser! Spring and summer bring a wealth of flowers, butterflies, and hummingbirds. We enjoy being away from it all, but close enough to town that we can have brunch or an evening out. Every day brings something new to see.
