We really enjoyed staying here with our adult children. Plenty of room to gather and have dinner, hang out by the fire and play games. Very nice, plan to return someday.
We were visiting for a graduation at UMD and wanted a place that would be spacious and fit everyone comfortably. This place was perfect. We rented the loft and one of the queen rooms, and it worked very well. Big bonus that each level had a bathroom. It also was great for the grandparents to join us afterwards. Beautiful views and an amazing spot for photos with our graduate.
We loved the log home, it was more spacious and comfortable than we expected. Kitchen was great, and very well furnished. Owner/manager was easy to contact and very friendly. The beds & bedrooms were perfect for our group and all very comfortable. The house is tucked away in the woods and very private, no neighbors were in site. You can really tell that the owners put alot of work and love into their cabin!
The cabin was very clean, comfortable, and instantly relaxing. Perfect location for daytime adventures (Gooseberry Falls, Iona beach, Onyx beach) In the evenings we enjoyed cooking meals together, movie nights in the basement and sitting on the deck (perfect view of the night sky). Thanks for an awesome stay!
The inside was very nice and clean. Disappointed with the exterior. The lawn was not mowed, it was long weedy and wild grass, and we could not use it all for outdoor activities at all. We did not have that great of view of Lake Superior as the listing made you believe.

Liked: Cleanliness, location
Disliked: Communication
Was supprised that cabin is not finished.
The response time from owners very slow or didn't respond at all. Theshold on stairs to lower level had uneven cuts and not finshed off. We caught our shoes or socks several times going up and down. There were no had rails going to lower level. No laundry soap as promised. Need more than just six plates , etc. for serving etc. Very muddy tracking in as there is no lawn, so bigger rugs at both enteries. Cabin stayed nice and warm, will need blankets on beds soon as there were none. The view of lake, beautiful. The layout of kitchen, dining area and then two large recliners, weird. Need to make more homelike, was very sterile. Need more furnishings down stairs and another bathroom in that area. Very convenient location from Duluth, or going further north to explore.
Large counter height dining room table accommodates 8. Can also eat at the island counter. The queen mattress is on the hard side. The bunk bed mattresses in the loft are thin and hard. The drawer space for clothing is limited. I used the bathroom vanity drawers and the floor. There are few hangers, if any. The hooks by the doors were nice and we really liked the area at the entry with all the cubbies and lots of space for wet boots and shoes. There were plenty of towels. Wish there were some towel racks, and clothes drying rack. We brought extra skillets and there we're plenty of sharp knives. There are two cutting boards. We would have liked more coffee mugs. The king room has one nightstand and no dresser. The heat worked very well though the high ceiling fan needs cleaning. The stove is electric. It was a good base camp for daily and evening outings. Highly recommend Cedar and Stone Sauna and Nordic skiing at snowflake.
We had a lovely weekend at this cabin. It was very clean and well stocked. It was far enough off the highway that it was very quiet & peaceful. I do feel that the listing is confusing. It lists 3 bedrooms. It indicates there are 2 bedrooms with queen beds and one bedroom with a king bed. However, the photos don't show the king room. But there is a photo of a room with bunk beds. ??? The reality is that there are 4 bedrooms. Also, be aware that you pay extra for using more than the one king bedroom.
We loved the beautiful, peaceful cabin in the woods! It was the perfect spot for us. The host was quick to reply to any questions. The cabin was sparkling clean and the view from the deck was awesome.
When we first approached the property, we thought we were at the wrong place because this looked like a place under construction. We were greeted with a huge dumpster right in front of us and tall grass and weeds all around it. Found out the owners are working on a prairie, which is fine, but they need to trim it back from the front of the home and stairs. A beautiful prairie is one thing. Laziness for mowing and trimming is another. The biggest thing, though is the fact that none of the pictures reveal a huge bunch of stairs to get into the house. Not everyone can navigate stairs easily, and that should have been revealed. This picture that is shown is of the upstairs. It does not show the whole house. Granted we can enter on the lower level into the basement but then you’re just in a living area. You have to go upstairs for the kitchen and there really is no living area upstairs just two chairs. This could be an inconvenience and really should have been disclosed. There is good potential here. The trees are gorgeous and there is a slight view of the lake. It is very secluded and that is nice. It was so quiet. Love that part. I would also suggest a three ring binder with helpful hints for the renter. Such things as great places eat or places that deliver. There was also no hint as to what they wanted done as we left, such as dishes, garbage, towels, etc. I received a message on my phone, but we had already left early so it was too late.
This was a perfect fit for our group to stay at to explore the north shore. The host exceeded my expectations as far as communication and being accommodating. My only suggestion is to maybe add a little more furniture downstairs in the entertainment room and install carpet in the lower bedroom. You might also want to improve a few more pictures of the property for your listing, because the property is really beautiful, yet the photos don’t show it off as well as they could. :)
We enjoyed a very nice time at this VRBO vacation rental. Chad does a great job with the place. He’s also very caring and very approachable for anything that you might need. It’s a very nice setting and close to the many State Parks along the North Shore. I would definitely recommend this log home for anybody looking for a place to stay.
The two story log home is very clean with a nice and well equipped kitchen, and grill on upper level deck. The water from the tap was delicious . Beds were comfortable.I did not like the additional cost to add rooms for staying at the house. I would rather know what the price is for the whole home and pay extra than be paying more than advertised when I need more beds. The cost of cleaning was way too much, especially since we cleaned the surfaces and floors before we left. We had no instructions on what was required when we left.We saw deer and turkeys. Bring your own firewood, and be cautious about wind direction (you will find out when you receive instructions). Some neighbor has an issue with wood smoke or some other issue.
This was our first stay here. We will definitely try and come back in the future!Very clean and large sized. Plenty of room for all of us. The kitchen is large, with an island and large dinette set. Loved that the fridge had an ice maker, didn't have to stop and buy ice. Loved the wrap around deck, had my morning coffee out there and loved seeing all the deer around the cabin. Our german shephard loved it too! l. It was cold the first couple nights so the fireplace in the TV room was a nice bonus! Great view of the lake from the deck
We had a great stay. Cabin was set up with everything we needed.Kitchen set up is great nice gathering area with a view. Love the knotty pine interior. Beds we used were comfy, two bathrooms made it convenient.Downstairs room with the fireplace was cozy for relaxing. Liked the fact there was a lower level door for entry. Appreciate the dog friendly option, our dog Chase loves to travel with us. Host communicated before, during and after our stay. Very satisfied and highly recommend if you want privacy and comfort with a cabin feel.
This cabin was a nice cozy cabin with enough sleeping room for the six adults we had plus we had one more bed for a single. It was located where we needed it to go further north or to go into Duluth. It was great. We came back one day and there were just four deer roaming around the property and the other day when I woke up there was one peeking in the window. Would definitely stay here again and would definitely recommend. If I was gonna stay at Christmas, I would bring Christmas decorations. It made me want to stay through the holidays and decorate and hide from the world. A little bit was like my little bit of a Hallmark movie
Very good location for a fall excursion to the north shy
Newer, well kept 3 bedroom house with a nice view of the lake and northern lights.
