"La Casa De Madera" Near the El-Ceritto boarder is a custom handcrafted tiny/small house that is unique and one of a kind. Designed and built by Conscious Construction this house was built largely from reclaimed, re-purposed, and custom milled wood. Occupying a wonderful small piece of land where an eighty year old carriage house once stood. The original redwood siding from the carriage house was re-purposed and now clads some of the interior walls of the house giving a feel and texture you rarely see. The new house has magnificent San Francisco Bay views. Designed to capture the views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the beautiful sunsets overlooking brooks island and the expansive bay views. It was also designed to provide privacy with all the comforts of a home. From the easily accessible sleeping loft you can enjoy wonderful southern views with a glimpse of both the Bay Bridge and the Golden Gate Bridge. The kitchen has a two burner gas stove with a beautiful live edge counter top empathizing the organic feel of the space. Custom tiled shower and Alaskan yellow cedar clad the bathroom walls.

While in the living space you can sit in the love- seat (which doubles as a sofa bed), and enjoy the flat screen TV and full Wi-Fi access. There is also a mini gas fire place heater to enjoy on cold San Francisco bay nights.
Although unique and custom, this house is very practical and efficient. It's perfect for people visiting the area for a short or extended stay, as it is a self-sufficient house with all the comforts of home. It's minutes form the freeway access, with only a short drive to Berkeley, Oakland, Marin, and San Francisco. The house is a 12 minute walk to the El-Cerrito Natural Grocery which is a community gathering spot, and
20 minute walk to Bart. In 8 minutes you can drive to the new ferry terminal in Richmond and be in San Francisco in no time! Meeting all your bay area needs the "Casa De Madera", is a must!

We ask only the most responsible and serious guests inquire. This house was designed and crafted with a lot of care and love. We only want guests who can appreciate and respect the space. Absolutely no parties are allowed.

Letdown

The view from this tiny house is otherworldly and the water pressure in the shower is phenomenal. Unfortunately that is where is ended for me. The beautiful big windows do not open to help with circulation so it was really hot most nights. There were not fans offered or installed to help with circulation. I sweat both nights. The shower stall is incredibly small. The futon in the loft was thin and I couldn't sleep most nights because it felt as if I was sleeping directly on the wood. The stairs to the loft should be re-evaluated for safety as they are spaced extremely far apart and hard to climb. There was no where to hang or store clothes or my suitcase. The bathroom pocket door would not shut all the way and often rolled open. The sofa is extremely inexpensive and hard to sit on. The television was not synced to receive programs and I could not figure it out. The toilet paper was extremely thin, inexpensive, and hard. Unfortunately I will not be recommending this tiny house nor returning. I wish my review had been better.

Cozy Tiny Home in Beautiful Garden

Stayed in this lovely tiny house for about 10 days - I was in town for work. It was perfect for just me! It was very clean and well maintained/built. I met the owner on the first day - Jeff - he was super nice and we discussed construction as we are both in the industry and he said that he had built the little place. Impressive. He has a beautiful garden blooming wonderfully this time of year - you can smell the jasmine as you're walking up the stairs. The flowers and succulents were such a nice view out of the kitchen window while doing dishes lol The weather was beautiful so I kept the door and windows open most of the time - this helped at night since I am a hot sleeper. Plenty of towels, sheets, blankets and the kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans and cooking utensils. I was able to cook hot meals on a gas cooktop - which I loved (no microwave, something to keep in mind if you prefer that but I don't mind) The bathroom was roomy, with great water pressure and plenty of hot water. The bed is up on a loft, and was really cozy (and a dreamy view of the bay bridge) - especially during the rain storms when the rain's hitting the roof. Jeff kept to himself and checked in every once in a while - street parking is available in front of the home that was always free which I really appreciated. Good restaurants nearby, grocery stores. 25 mins to Six Flags if you're into that (I am so that was awesome) and about 30 min to airport (w no traffic) 10 out of 10 would recommend!

The property was tidy and the surrounding area was very quiet. The host is quite friendly and responsive. The futon mattress in the loft and the sofa bed are a bit uncomfortable and I would have liked to have had a microwave in the unit, but otherwise my partner and I had a pleasant stay.

The Suite

Like a symphonic overture of the same name, this tiny little “suite” was delightfully charming! I initially booked it to be reminded of my stays in Portugal, but upon arriving and peering out over the Bay the serenity was more on par with a past stay on the hillside of Beausoleil overlooking Monaco!! Definitely would recommend!!

Great guest house in a quiet neighborhood with nice views

I was in town for work, so "The Wood House" was perfect for what I needed. The house is clean, easily accessible, with what I felt was safe street parking, and well appointed. Shower pressure is wonderful and for once, you'll be supplied with pour over coffee capabilities and not the dreaded Keurig. That checked two very important boxes for me while traveling. As others have stated, the loft bed isn't the most comfortable, kind of like a futon mat. I found that the love seat pull out bed was more comfortable. Milkah communicated clearly and quickly and overall, my stay was very good. I would definitely stay there again.

What a view!

Cutest Cabin Ever!!

A super cute cabin close to east bay, was only a 30 minute drive to SF but we flew in so we took Bart and Uber. Bart station was very close! I saw some reviews about it being really small; it is, but me and my boyfriend (he’s 6 ft) really had no troubles. I was never in the property long enough to very much care, in fact; we loved it! Thank you for hosting us and if you’re going to the bay, definitely stay here!! P.S. the view is gorgeous!

I work for the University of California and my work experience has nurtured my passion for Real Estate. I have been friends with Jeff (the property owner) for years and he thought I would be a great fit to manage this fantastic property since I have a Property Management Certification and I enjoy interacting with people. Jeff and his two kids occupy the principle home on the property which was recently built.
