This beautifully decorated home is nestled in 6 acres of towering red pine trees where wildlife and quiet abound. EXCELLENT location for snowmobilers/ATV, as we are located 1/2 mile from the snowmobile trails. Trailer in and RIDE OUT! This home has an open floor plan with a full kitchen/dining/living room with windows to view the outdoors, and a lower level family room. Master Bedroom /Mstr Bath with King Size Bed, King size Guest Bedroom and Queen Size Guest Bedroom share a Full Main Bath with a Jacuzzi Tub. Lower level has a Queen Size Sleeper Sofa with Full Bathroom. 4 Season Porch accomodates sleeping for 1.
2 Gas Fireplaces for those chilly mornings/evenings. Other features for the seasons... a 4 season porch, open balcony, walkout patio and a covered back porch with a porch swing for those morning cups of coffee and the afternoon cocktails. An open fire pit with stacked wood available for those evenings chatting around the campfire. Plus a two stall attached heated garage. Located 7 miles north of Park Rapids, Hwy 71/Co. Rd 40 and Hobby Road, and 10 miles from the south entrance to Itasca State Park. Within 1.5 miles of 3 lake accesses, Eagle, Island & Potato Lakes. 1.5 miles from Eagleview Golf Course and Character Challenger Course. Park Rapids, one of the top 50 most charming towns in the U.S., has many quaint shops, restaurants/coffee shops/backroad bar & grills, trails for snowmobiling and ATV, cross country skiing, biking, walking and many other vacation activities. What a lovely home and very kind hosts. The house was very clean and equipped with everything we could possibly need and more. There are multiple ways to enter the house for easy access, as well as many places to sleep if needed. The location is perfect, secluded, private, and so beautiful. Thank you for the great stay!

Extremely friendly and accommodating hosts and a beautiful property. The home was decorated very nice and it felt cozy. Lots of space for gathering and quiet space if you want to spend time alone. Fire pit patio was beautiful and everything was prepared and ready to go from prepared firewood to lots of blankets in the house and even boot dryers in the garage (which was a welcomed surprise since it was raining while we were riding the trails). We would definitely stay here again! Thank you!

Excellent home in a beautiful setting. Addition all instructions for upstairs fireplace would be helpful. Hot water issues will be resolved but Barb and Larry were very responsive when we had an issue and provided instructions, so we were fine thereafter. We highly recommend this lovely home. Very nice property

The house is extremely comfortable, with good-sized bedrooms, comfortable seating, and a well-stocked kitchen. The hosts are friendly and very responsive. The house is located in a wooded area close to Itasca State Park and Park Rapids -- a wonderful location. The only suggestion our group has was that the hosts remove the plug-in fragrances throughout the house before guests arrive since some people have fragrance sensitivities (we unplugged them and that took care of the issue). Otherwise, it was a wonderful property, location, and stay in the Minnesota woods!

Perfect Location for Itasca State Park

Larry and Barbara were perfect hosts for this home secluded in the woods just north of Park Rapids, MN. It’s their personal home and it is very well maintained. The bedrooms and living areas were very comfortable and created a great environment for family get-togethers. We used their pellet-fueled BBQ grill for dinner one night and enjoyed using their fire pit just outside by the driveway and the trees. It’s just a short 20 minute drive to Itasca State Park. They had a large screen TV in the bottom floor that was great for a family movie night. Highly recommend their home for a vacation!

Awesome Property Owners!

Barb and Larry are wonderful hosts! They have a very beautiful, clean, comfortable home. We had a group of six adults in Park Rapids for the Rodeo. The house was close to the rodeo grounds and so many other things to do in the area. I would highly recommend this home to anyone!

Better Than Expected!

I booked this home for an extended family vacation to Lake Itasca. I chose Larry and Barbara's because it seemed like the best place when compared to the other local choices. But I had no idea *how* great it would be until we checked in!! We had a marvelous time, and wished we could have spend more days in!! If you're looking for a quiet place with kind hosts, plenty of beautiful and tidy rooms, and a vacation to remember, pick this one!

SO RELAXING

We rented the property so we could hike/swim at Itasca State Park and bike the Heartland trail. The house is ideally located to make each activity a short car ride. The house is furnished beautifully and is spacious. Our group of eight adults had plenty of space to visit and cook. The 3 bedrooms and a full basement gave each couple plenty of privacy. The yard is beautifully landscaped and private. I would highly recommend the rental of this property.

Wonderful weekend gathering

A birthday celebration with family and friends. This rental was prefect. Large kitchen and counter where many can sit. Large bedrooms. A very nice four season porch where a bed is located. It was very comfortable sleeping out there, A fire pit with many chairs that the group loved. We golfed nearby at Eagle View golf course and spent an afternoon on nearby lake. Very pleasant weekend stat.

What a relaxing, comfortable home and yard. The owners are super friendly and responsive. They obviously care about their renters. Well maintained home and landscaping. Easy access although that does bring some highway noise. Quiet inside. Good water pressure, comfortable beds, well designed gathering areas, clean, well stocked. Highly recommend.

Larry grew up near Herman, Mn and Barbara by Winthrop, Mn. We met during college and have been married for 36 years, have 4 grown children and enjoy 14 grandchildren! We moved to Park Rapids in June 2016 with a job change. We absolutely love this area, the change of seasons and the variety of things to do in the area, whether it be spring, summer, fall or winter.

Why they chose this property

While searching for a home, our priority was to find a home that would fill the needs of our family coming to visit. We wanted a warm inviting home with a large functional kitchen and an open floor plan so that when we were in the kitchen, we weren't separated from them. We found it!! We love this home and the feeling we have when we walk through the door. This property is secluded and not visible to others, but still very accessible to everything. Its like having our own piece of paradise! Everyone that comes to visit, does not want to leave. That brings us great joy, as we have created a place to relax, unwind, and have fun!

What makes this property unique

The first time we looked at this house while searching for a home, we both felt this was THE ONE! Well maintained and the interior spoke of one who loved it and graciously decorated it. It was everything we were looking for and move in ready! We have great views of our property from every window in this home and it is fun as to what you might see when you look out! The back porch swing has become a favorite for us, a place to unwind at the end of a work day to just catch up with each other and a great place to swing with the grandchildren. The property has wildlife that come in daily, especially the deer, occasionally wild turkeys, raccoon and fox. Whats really fun is to sit at the campfire and have deer or turkey wander in. The changing seasons are beautiful to watch here. The silent fall of the winter snow turning our property into a winter wonderland, to the first green buds of spring giving way to full green to completely enclose our haven. Fall begins and the colors are beautiful as everything prepares for winter. This home lends itself very well to snowmobilers. We are 1/2 mile from the Trail, so parking the trailers here and riding out is perfect. We also have a heated garage for all of your snowmobile gear and winding down after the ride. It is a place to come to relax and enjoy all seasons and the beauty of HIS creation!
