About this property
La Truite, 2 Bedroomed Chalet with exclusive use of swimming pool, Dordogne
'La Truite' is so called because it is situated in an idyllic rural position which was once a trout farm. The chalet comes with exclusive use of swimming pool.
The fish farm no longer exists, however the small lake is still very much in evidence and is well stocked with all sorts of fresh water fish. A lovely spot to dangle a hook or just sit quietly on a sunny afternoon.
The accommodation consists of 2 bedrooms – 1 with a double bed, 1 with bunk beds, a shower room and open plan kitchen lounge with TV. There is also a large covered terrace, ideal for sitting or eating outside under shade, a real 'outside' room.
La Truite has been fully renovated, the kitchen is well equipped for those who enjoy preparing fresh produce bought locally from any of the local markets. It has a full sized oven and a 4 ring electric hob, (however you may prefer to use the gas barbecue). There is also a full sized fridge with a small freezer.
To the rear of the property is a good sized lockable utility room, housing a washing machine, ironing board etc.., with ample space for secure storage of suitcases or even bicycles.
Although La Truite is ideal for young families, having the two bedrooms, it is equally suitable for a couple who are looking for a private tranquil spot in which to relax or explore.
Situated in the commune of La Chapelle Aubareil, it is within 15 minutes of the market town of Montignac lying on the Vezere river and in the opposite direction the bustling medieval town of Sarlat.
The area has a wealth of places of interest including chateaux (Castelnaud, Beynac, Hautefort to name but a few), archaeological sites including the world famous Lascaux caves (close to Montignac). Canoeing is readily available on both the Vezere and Dordogne rivers.
Tamnies lake is within 3km where you can relax on the sandy beach, take a swim or even fish as well as enjoy a picnic.
The area also lends itself to cycling, walking or just relaxing, with many good restaurants in which to enjoy lunch or evening meals.
The Dordogne has been visited regularly over the years by the Tour De France, it's last in 2017 when it passed through both Montignac and Sarlat. For the cycling enthusiast the area has a range of terrain from flat to some moderate climbing (we are not a mountain region but do have some challenging climbs). With beautiful scenery and plenty of good 'cafe stops' en route the area can offer something for all levels, individual, group or family rides.
