I have been expecting this review from this renter for a while. Let me start by saying that much of what is says is blatantly false. The family arrived as usual on a Saturday. On Sunday morning he called to complain that he had felt the need to re-clean the floors. I was very apologetic and of course offered to sent the cleaning crew back over to the house immediately. He said "no" and that he was just calling to let me know this. I checked with the cleaning crew who has been cleaning between renters for years and they said they had of course cleaned the house and HAD mopped the floors (twice) before Troy's arrival. The next thing I know, on Monday morning I receive a call from the renter saying that he was leaving and checking out. Immediately I again offered to send a crew back and even to send a different cleaning service to the house, and he again did not accept my offer. Unfortunately, he gave me no opportunity to resolve his problem. No one ever wants to end a rental this way, and in 10 years I have never had anything like this happen, so my record speaks for itself. I have told Troy repeatedly that there are no mouse traps on the property. He ignored this and wrote it in the review anyway. There are small black sealed boxes filled about every 10 to 20 feet around the perimeter of the house. They are filled with a material that smells bad to chipmunks and squirrels and are designed to keep them from living under the house. No one else has ever even commented on them. I have been renting this house for 10 years and have never had an incident like this. My ratings have been 5 star ratings in the past. Most of my weeks are filled with repeat renters which speaks for itself. This is a 110 year old house and has the charm of a 110 year old house. That being said, a 110 year old house is 110 years old, not new. Thanks for taking the time to read this! Future Guests, Wow! What a suprise to get these comments almost 6 months after their stay. I spoke with the renters while there and exchanged emails afterwards and never had any comments from them about this subject, so I am totally suprised! I absolutely would have sent the housekeeper over there to address the issue. I try to call the renters on their very first day just to make sure everything is tip-top for this exact reason, and this issue was never brought up to me either during their stay or afterwards. I leave the housekeepers name with the renters as well. I will follow up with the housekeeper to address this as well as check with other renters. Also, I am now sending surveys to my renters after they leave. I checked over the surveys and all of them have "excellent" as the response to my question #2 (How was the cleansliness of the house?). I hope that you, as a future renter, will take the time to read the surveys from other renters who have stayed at our cottage. I would certainly be delighted to make them available to you! Please be assured that this is the first and only negative comment that I have had like this and it truly breaks my heart because we work so hard to make the stay nice for our renters.
