Cozy Cabin Retreat

Very nice place! A little too hot for our comfort zone! We left a day early because of that...otherwise this is a very clean and comfortable cabin with total privacy!

Rodent traps and bait throughout/Let's go back to the 90's

When we first arrived, it was unclear the way to enter the property. There are 2 ways in, one is impassible with a 2-wheel drive, and the other is very difficult to see. After several text messages, we figured it out. When we arrived, the heat was not on, and the cabin was freezing. The heat took over 3 hours to warm up. The host said to make a fire in the furnace to warm up the place, but that was difficult without starter logs. After settling in, a quick survey of the cabinets revealed rodent traps with bait and in the bathroom there was rodent poison. If I had known there were rodents in the house, I certainly would not have book there. Every time we left the cabin, the heat was mysteriously turned off, and therefore, heating the cabin back up took hours again. During our stay, someone showed up in the driveway and picked up firewood from the shed in the front. Obviously, this is a shared property. Everything in the cabin felt second hand. The Keurig machine was never cleaned, and when running water through it made some kind of brown sludge. Glad we checked it. The sheets in the king bed had a hole. The utensils were dirty. The dining table was peeling. Overall, not a safe or comfy place to stay due to people just showing up on the property.

Relaxing weekend

Our long weekend at Cherokee Sunrise was exactly what we needed. We were celebrating my wife's birthday and what we hope is the end of COVID 19, as we know it. And, I had just completed a really tough tax season. We were looking for a place to relax and this definitely fit the bill. The minute we entered the farmhouse, we felt like we were home. The attention to detail was quickly noticed and we admired the craftsmanship throughout the house. The selection of lighting and other fixtures was impeccable. During the day we enjoyed long walks along the banks of Noontootla Creek. The screened-in porch, where we spent late evenings and nights listening to music or watching TV quickly became our favorite place to relax. A box of popcorn and a coke would have completed the feeling of being back at the local drive-in. I dabbled at fishing in the pond but that large mouth bass was not to be found. We hope to move to the Blue Ridge/Ellijay area when I finally retire and this was an excellent location to explore the Aska area. We loved our time at Cherokee Sunrise and we hope to go back in the near future. David and Kathryn Price Decatur, GA
