Casa Azcorra is ideally situated in the Heart of the beautiful fishing village of Puerto Morelos. At just 100 feet away from the leaning lighthouse, It is the closest residential home on the north beach front street of Calle Rafael Melgar. The home boasts stunning views of the Caribbean, the white sand beaches of Puerto Morelos, rooftop views of the entire town.

The building has 3 apartments. Two units boast 2 spacious bedrooms and bathrooms with the addition of a cozy lock off studio, Air Conditioning throughout, Fiber Optic WIFI, smart TV's. If you need a little extra space, ask us about adding the studio to your rental!

The property includes access to huge beach front terrace and patio space and exclusive access to the covered palapa on the beach. The two bedroom apartments each have large fully equipped kitchen, perfect if you love to cook; but as it is located in the heart of Puerto Morelos, there are over 2 dozen restaurants within walking distance.

The back patio has a 2 large tiered levels of space. The lower level is common space to the property. The beach portion has a very large palapa, perfect for watching the sunrise, entertaining, reading, relaxing in a hammock or just people watching. Includes use out door grills.

Property is amazing beautiful beach view and easy beach access. The open air design of the apartments is not for those who wish a quiet night's sleep. There are two restaurants nearby with music into the night that we enjoyed! Would definitely stay there again

This is the perfect location! Easy waddling to the square, restaurants, and the beach is right out the back door. We enjoyed opening the doors and listening to the sounds of crashing waves!

Location a Love the Vibe of this place.

Easy communication with L. She was very accommodating, a wealth of Knowledge of the area. Cant thank her enough for turning us onto Louise and her partner. Highly recommend them for massages at the property. Centrally located less than 1/2 block from the town square. Right on the beach. Kitchen could use a little more furnishings but I like to cook a lot. The only surprise was the open air aspect of the property. It has screened openings in the wall that cannot be closed mostly for street noise early in the morning. We are early riders so it wasn't an issue for us. Over all a beautiful property and I am hoping to return again soon. This time won't take a set of keys home for a souvenir. Lol thank you so much for your hospitality. Puerto Morelos is such an awesome place. Very friendly neighbors were an added bonus!

Victor is from Puerto Morelos - has lived their most of his life. Laura is originally from Chicago. The host building is one of the oldest stuctures in Puerto Morelos - ground breaking began in 1978 and was lovingly constrructed by the family (very few contractors available at that time).

Why they chose this property

Victor's family lived on this property since 1966. Contrary to popular "history", Puerto Morelos was actually not a "fishing vallage" but was first and formost an active port, supporting growing tourism in Cozumel. The Casa Azcorra property was the towns only warehouse. Victor's family managed the warehouse and were permitted to live there. Around 1975 the federal dock was built and the new ferry boat ended the need for the original dock and warehouse. When the property no longer served the original purpose it was available for sale. In 1978, Victor and Laura's families pooled resources, purchased the property and built the duplex. Laura's parents still live on the other half of the duplex.

What makes this property unique

Casa Azcorra is one of the oldest structures in puerto Morelos - built in 1978, it survived two direct hits from two of the most powerful hurricanes in Atlantic ocean history. In 1988, Hurricane Gilbert made landfall just south of puerto Morelos. Storm surge from guilbert is estimated at 18 feet. Without exageration, most of the port side was under water!!!! Only about ocean front buildings survived the surge - our's was one of them. Then, in 2005, Hurricane Wilma hit just north of puerto morelos. Storm surge was not nearly as high but the devestation was massive as Hurricane Wilma decided it like cancun so much it stayed around for 3 to 4 days.
