About this property
Mountain retreat by Lake Glenville: creekside, secluded, Cashiers - Glenville
North Carolina Mountain home in Cashiers/Glenville/Highlands area, nestled in trees, with Cedar Creek view & gated access to Lake Glenville, a few minute's walk from our home!
Home has 3 levels: Main floor/mid level entry; stairs on main level access floors above & below. There are 3 bedroom en-suites (2 queen, 1 king/master). Each floor has a bedroom/full bath for ultimate privacy when needed! Great for 3 couples, a family w/several kids, or extended family.
We have a queen sleeper sofa in lower level den.
Sleeps 8 total: 6 bed spaces, 2 sleeper sofa spaces.
A few “must knows”:
- We do NOT allow pets. No exceptions. Violations entail a fine & eviction.
- We are a NON smoking residence (in house or on porches). No smoking litter on house grounds. This keeps our home clean and enjoyable for all guests!
- We have: central A/C & heat- not needed often (3600’ elevation). We mostly use the plentiful windows, to enjoy cool, fresh mountain air, in addition to a whole house fan in upper level loft & bedroom ceiling fans. There is a window fan in master. Summers are generally temperate- we are a shaded mountain property.
- We provide linens, “start of stay” paper products and many kitchen expendables. If you are a full house group for more than few days bring extra toilet paper & paper towels. BYO toiletries (shampoo etc).
- We DO have necessary exterior home security monitoring & a ring doorbell. NO internal living space visual monitoring. ** There is only one other home near us- not occupied full time. We must assure NO trespassing occurs during times of vacancy.
Our bedroom set up offers optimal privacy, whether accommodating a large or extended family, or with adult children, or “friend” families with young children.
2 full length covered porches, with comfy furniture & lighting, provide wonderful outside space to relax & enjoy the gorgeous woodsy setting. 1. Mid/main level 2. Lower level…enjoyable day or night, rain or shine. House has 3 gas fireplaces - one per floor. They are used Sept- May; not available during summer months. Locations- Main floor: living room, Lower floor: den space, Top floor in master en-suite.
Main/middle level: fully stocked, well organized and renovated galley kitchen, dining room, living room and 1/2 bath, as well as a queen bedroom/full shower bath en-suite.
Lower level: living /den space, w/fireplace & slider door porch access , queen bedroom/full shower-tub bathroom, (also slider door to access back porch), and a desk/work area with high speed wifi internet with Ethernet connection and laundry.
Upper level: loft sitting area, overlooks living room space, leads to a spacious, private king master ensuite w/fireplace, spa jet tub, full shower bath & his/hers counters/sinks.
Such a relaxing retreat!
**FYI: we have new Starlink Internet for work or streaming, but we discourage gaming.
Re: cell service- We have Verizon; (best mtn service). It is stronger in certain parts of house- and now stronger consistently, w/addition of cell booster.
The cabin is located just off Hwy 107, 4 miles N of Cashiers intersection of 64 W and Hwy 107. We are 12 miles/20 min drive from Highlands. (Hwy 107 runs along the E side of beautiful Lake Glenville).
Our home is a few hundred yards from HWY 107 and the lake. We have 2 driveways- one to front, one to back of house. Both are paved, significant inclines that are easily accessed by 2WD vehicles in normal seasonal weather, but in snow/ice FWD, AWD or 4WD vehicles are optimal. Otherwise, plan to use ice melt on drives.
This beautiful, Craftsman style home, was well built, with detail and care, to embrace the setting. There are many windows and plentiful, aesthetic porch space to optimize time spent outdoors. All in excellent condition, well cared for.
We’ve preserved the charm, such as the warm pine flooring, but updated as we saw need.
New appliances include: refrigerator, sink/faucet, 5 burner gas range cooktop, wall oven/microwave, dishwasher, keurig and toaster oven, large capacity washer and dryer. Both standard coffee pot & toaster also avail. . Fairly new gas fireplace inserts. High quality, carpet through bedrooms and stairwells. Kitchen is remodeled. Lower level hard surface flooring & furnishings/fireplace facing are all new.
Things to do:
Picnic, swim or simply relax at the lake - a 5 min walk, any time of day, pop a canoe, kayak or paddle board in the water.
Nearby marina offers a variety of boating rentals!l Hang out at the creek- throw in a fishing line or splash around.
Cashiers is a 10 min drive- convenient to Ingles grocery, Cashiers Farmer’s Market, many cute shops, boutiques and dining, hardware store, business needs/shipping.
Highlands is 12 miles away- W on Hwy 64 with vistas/overlooks, hiking (Whiteside Mtn) & waterfalls all in reach.
Other areas easy to reach from our home: Gorges State Park, Sapphire Valley, Sylva, Nantahala, Lake Toxaway, Brevard, Hendersonville, Asheville, Cherokee, Cullasaja Gorge. SO many waterfalls and hiking options.
We are 1.5 hours SW of Asheville; 2.5 hours N of Atlanta. We use Asheville airport for ease- 1 hr 20 mins from house.

About the host
Hosted by Jeff
We are a Florida family who loves these mountains & has regularly played in this area of WNC since the late 80’s, through raising our family. We still vacation here with our adult children, now adding new grandchildren! Thrilling to share it with our next generation! Our love for this area motivated us to own a property and to make it a comfortable home and relaxing getaway- we so enjoy sharing all we love with our guests! Our skill sets bring you: a beautiful, personally maintained, tastefully decorated, tranquil/relaxing, organized & well stocked “feels like home” place while enjoying a carefree vacation! Just bring your clothes, food for the frig and your personal toiletries… and a mindset to play and relax!
Why they chose this property
We have enjoyed vacations in this area of the NC mountains beginning with our honeymoon in the 80's, continuing over 38 years, as we raised our children and often gathered with extended family, also vacationing here. Some family & friends reside in nearby towns . We are active, with a love of the outdoors. This area offers a great climate, scenery and wide range of activities to suit us well. As Florida residents, we spend a lot of time at the beach, or enjoying freshwater rivers, but love the season changes here- esp summertime in the cool, green, shade and cool, crisp colorful fall days our own place in the mountains. We desired the Cashiers area because of the altitude and close proximity to Highlands, but especially due to the creek frontage and access to Lake Glenville. The many waterfalls and nearby hikes, such as Whiteside Mountain, Panthertown, Gorges State Park and Whitewater Falls were places we repeatedly return to. The home is cozy enough for two, or expansive enough for a family or several couples, (even with a few kids) to get away from it all and embrace time together amidst a beautiful and fun filled backdrop. There is something to do in every season, and the climate allows.
What makes this property unique
The house is located on Cedar Creek only a couple hundred yards from State Road 107 and Lake Glenville where we have private gated access to a Cedar Point Park with a pavilion, restrooms and parking. Boating recreation is a huge draw for this location and of all kinds are welcome here, from fishing to pontoons, to kayak and canoeing. Motorboats pull tubers and paddleboarders are welcome. There is a marina which rents vessels, if that is a desire. But even a simple walk to sit and enjoy the water from the shore is a wonderful treat. As is a stroll down to the creek to throw a line in and see if you can net a bass or brook trout! Our view is to the west, so sunset picnics and views are sweet, or sunset swims, from our community area gazebo by the lake. The creek behind the house is also fun to visit and splash in with the kids.
The house is private enough to enjoy the mountains and feel "away from it all", yet is not so remote that you can't meet your immediate needs. Cashiers is a 10-15 min drive with all you need- gas station, restaurants and a full grocery with pharmacy, Ingles. There is a small local brewery and coffee shop, extensive hardware store, gift boutiques etc, as well. It is a charming area which caters to visitors in this area. Highlands is a 30 min uphill drive and has many options for services and entertainment as well. Sapphire Valley is beyond Cashiers and all of these areas are renowned for golf resorts if that is an appeal.
