About this property

Entire Cozy Log Cabin close to Glacier Park,1282 sqft

It's located between East and West Glacier. Essex town has a very small community. You Can Hear The TRAINS passing by and watch them from the fire pit. Please don't not book if you are a light sleeper. There are some hiking trails to the Great Bear Wilderness and also Glacier National Park. We do have a combination of hiking trail, cross country skiing and snowshoeing maps both in Glacier also near house for your planning. If you need any help please message me. I love hiking.
The Walton Ranger Station which is an entrance to the Glacier Park for day hikes and back country trips is 7 minute drive from the house. Stanton lake trailhead (in the wilderness) which is one of my favorites is 5 minute drive. Stanton creek which you can drive to is a nice area for a picnic too.
The house has Starlink fast internet. It has smart TV no satellite and DVD player(of course some DVDs too). Two bedrooms have queen beds and the master bedroom has king bed. The kitchen is fully equipped with all appliances, coffee maker, dishes and cookware.
The property features exterior security cameras. They don't look into interior spaces. The cameras record video when activated by motion.
It has a BBQ Grill on the porch. After enjoying your visit to the park make sure you enjoy the fire pit too, which is located in the back of the house ( firewood on us). It is close to train tracks. Please expect that you are gonna hear trains during your stay. You can watch the trains pass by too. We are train lovers.
The bathroom has a small washer and dryer.
If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

Entire Cozy Cabin -Essex MT

Very convenient to Glacier; very well stocked cabin, and a great visitor guest information binder. We liked that there weren’t a lot of “exiting” clean up rules.

Great Glacier Cabin!

We had a wonderful stay in this cabin with our family of five on our first trip to Glacier National Park. The cabin was really even better than pictured- very clean and comfortable. The only downside for us was the lack of a/c and we happened to be visiting on 90+ degree days, but every room had a high-end fan that cooled things down quickly when we got home. Our teens loved the back patio and the axe throwing game the hosts left out for us. We loved being able to get to the east side of Glacier, including Many Glacier, more easily than if we stayed in West Glacier, particularly since the eastern St. Mary's entrance doesn't require a vehicle reservation. All in all I would absolutely recommend this cabin to anyone visiting the Glacier area!

Train house

Very clean, fully stocked. Beds were cozy. We were aware of the train. We did not realize it was every 30-45 mins night & day. Road traffic was also loud, but they did offer ear plugs. Other than lack of sleep, the stay was great. We really enjoyed the deck, grill, awesome dishes & games. Thank you

Montana Birthday Getaway

This was our first time in Montana, and we were celebrating my 35th Birthday. The cabin was cozy, clean, and rustic with modern day amenities such as Wi-Fi. It was a little out of town which was nice for us, but not too far out of town that we felt secluded. There are neighboring cabins on either side and across the road. We enjoyed grilling out and eating out on the back porch. The train tracks are right behind the house, so if you are a light sleeper, they might disturb you. We thought it was pretty cool to see them coming and going though. The cabin was about a 20 minute drive to Glacier National Park. There were also a lot of hikes nearby, but we only hiked within the park. The host put a lot of info regarding hikes, places to eat, nearby stores, etc. Also, fantastic communication with any questions! We would love to stay here again when we return for another trip!

Glacier Headquarters

We spent 6 days exploring Glacier NP and this cabin served as an excellent basecamp for visiting the park. It was convenient to both the east and west entrances so we spent less time on the road. The cabin is nothing fancy but served its purpose of a comfortable place to sleep and prepare most of our meals after a day of hiking and explorting. We would definitely use this again if we are lucky enough to make it to this area in the future. Check in and communication with the owner was excellent.

We enjoyed our stay...just two minor challenges

Great cabin. Everything you need. All the misc. kitchen items, maps and plenty of wood. Perfectly placed between East and West Glacier. Many great hikes just minutes away. Just beware if you are a light sleeper. It's located on US 2 maybe a few yards away in the front and sandwiched between railroad tracks in the back. I appreciate the charm of a passing freight train. No train whistles. But, I think there was about 12-15 that passed in one night (shaking the cabin). The road was relatively quiet late night. But, maybe for a noisy morning. I had to sleep with ear plugs the last few nights. WiFi was reliable. But, barely fast enough to watch a YouTube video or use my Fire Stick.

Perfect for our trip!

My husband and I stayed in this home with another couple. It was exactly what we wanted/needed and exactly as described. We had wanted a location where we could access east and west Glacier and this home was the perfect spot. The home was comfortable and WELL equipped, probably the most stocked home we have stayed in, including all kinds of information about hikes and the surrounding area! Time had been taken to leave laminated maps and directions!! We utilized the information and it was greatly appreciated. We had been concerned about the high temperatures while there and had considered bringing fans...the home supplied three, perfect for what was needed!! Reviews had mentioned the close proximity of the train tracks and highway. Previous renters had noted that the noise was not an issue and they were correct! As long as you keep the windows closed, the noise is a non issue. When corresponding with the owner, the response was immediate. We had a wonderful stay and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again!!

Excellent cabin near glacier NP

Sadly, we are on our way home from beautiful glacier national park, and we really enjoyed our stay at this cabin in Essex, MT. Cabin was extremely clean and well kept, owner had a very easy process for getting a key to get into the cabin, and we found it to be plenty big for our group of 6(4 adults, 1 teenager, and a 5 year old). We stopped for groceries in Browning, which ended up being a bit of a mistake. We found that the cabin was WELL stocked with essentials. Spices, TP, paper towels, foil, ziplocks, towels, etc. There was even some unused jugs of bottled water and other food(although I'm guessing that some of that may have just been left from previous guests). It really seemed like a well kept home that we just happened to crash at for the week. Beds were pretty comfortable, plenty of pillows and clean sheets, lots of extra blankets. Bathroom was great, large soaking bathtub and a nice shower head with great water pressure. Living area was cozy, lots of movies and a nice TV. Wifi worked pretty well, but slowed down if more than 2 people were trying to watch YouTube or something. To be expected given the relative remote location though, we found the working wifi to be a bonus. The back deck was really nice, even better than advertised. The grill worked great and was exceptionally clean, like, how was it so clean? If the owner has some tips I can use for my grill that'd be great, because I've never been able to keep my gas grill that clean. We weren't able to use the firepit because of fire restrictions, but it looked very nice and big. Kitchen was well stocked with utensils, dishes, cookware, we didn't have any trouble cooking for 6. And the water out of the tap was really good. The only drawback was the road and train noise. The house sits close to highway 2 and the train tracks, but I knew that going in after looking at a map. Its hard to avoid that in this area though, if you look around most houses / lodges that are outside of the park are right on the highway and near the tracks, because there's just nowhere else for them to be! Overall we really enjoyed this cabin and would recommend staying here, especially if you have trouble finding lodging in the park(like most people do). It was about a 30 minute drive to west glacier and about 45 minutes to east glacier. Closest gas station was in west glacier, but there is a neighbor a few hundred yards east on highway 2 that has an ice machine at the end of his driveway!

Damaged Property and Poor Communication

We faced a few issues with this property with a broken toilet and broken shower dispensers. As there was only one bathroom in the property, the broken toilet caused a major inconvenience. Furthermore, while the owner seemed open to help, she stopped answering our calls after the first time we called her. She would only answer when we called from a new phone number. While a person was sent for maintenance, they did not fix the issue and left us dry shortly after. The next day, we were woken up by broken shower dispensers that had fallen into the bathroom tub further causing a mess. The property was well decorated and had great amenities, but the quality greatly suffered.

Enjoyable stay in well equipped cabin close to Glacier

We really enjoyed our stay and would stay again. We liked the access to both sides of the park. There is highway noise and train noise, but we didn't mind, and the kids enjoyed watching the trains go by and did not hurt our sleep.

A convenient cabin to both sides of Glacier

The cabin was well equipped -- not luxurious but well-equipped with everything we needed. Very convenient to the area we needed as it is halfway between the 2 gates of Glacier Park. The back deck was wonderful for relaxing after a hard day of driving...watching the chipmunks was fun!

Cabin in Essex

The location was great-between the west entrance of glacier and the entrances to two medicine and St Mary on the east side. The cabin was clean and comfortable. Other reviews discuss the train which was no issue for us. Highway 2 is nearby and well traveled but also was not an issue for us. Overall, a great place to stay. Definitely would stay in this cabin again.
