Windmill Inn is nestled in the breathtaking Wapiti Valley, known for its dramatic rock formations and stunning natural beauty. Teddy Roosevelt once called this stretch of highway “the most scenic 52 miles in America.” Conveniently located just 30 miles from Yellowstone National Park and 20 miles from Cody, Wyoming, our inn provides the perfect base for adventure.

From here, you can explore Yellowstone, visit the world-class Buffalo Bill Center of the West, go whitewater rafting, fishing, hiking, hunting, or experience the excitement of Cody’s nightly rodeos. We also offer private guided tours of Yellowstone and the surrounding area through our tour company, Grub Steak Expeditions.

Our charming one-bedroom cottage offers all the comforts of home, featuring a cozy king-sized log bed, private bath, air conditioning, and a well-equipped kitchenette with a refrigerator. Relax on your private deck, fire up the barbecue, and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

Set on 50 acres adjacent to public lands, Windmill Inn provides plenty of space to roam and take in Wyoming’s rugged beauty.

cozy stay

My wife and I stayed here for a few days as part of our honeymoon. The cottage was exactly as described/pictured. We loved being able to grill after spending our days at Yellowstone. Great views too!

We loved staying here....we were about 1/2way between Yellowstone and Cody WY, easy drive to either one. Nice outdoor seating for coffee in the morning. Just great!

Beautiful Views!

The views from the cottage are beautiful. The drives to Yellowstone and Cody are also beautiful. We had everything we needed to enjoy a comfortable stay.

Striking views, wonderful location

We appreciated having lodging that was close to Cody yet in a beautiful and quiet setting. The location allowed us to see family in Cody, but also have a bit of vacation for just the two of us. Rod & Suzie were quick to address any needs we had. It was a memorable stay.

Clean, comfortable, & beautiful

The Cottage: This cottage is extremely clean and comfortable. I wish every place we rent would be as clean. Truth be told, I wish my home were this clean! I have a permanent back injury, so the comfort of the bed and furnishings here was a wonderful surprise. The wing-back chairs are recliners and they, along with the comfortable bed, were such a relief for my back after a day of touring/fishing. The cottage had everything we needed to sleep, shower, cook and relax. The hosts: Rod & Suzie are genuinely kind, caring and informative! They welcomed us like family. It doesn't get any better. They promptly responded to every question we had and provided much appreciated information about the area including but not limited to local areas of interest, sightseeing, Yellowstone, fishing, and restaurants. The area: The location is naturally beautiful and convenient to both Yellowstone and Cody. We did not have to go far to fish. We would rent with Rod & Suzie again in a heartbeat.

Spectacular

Gorgeous room and location. The outstanding part was our host Rod took us on a custom tour of Yellowstone, with GrubSteak Expeditions. The best way to start a visit to the park. All our dreams came true!

Yellowstone Getaway

Excellent hosts and a wonderful place to stay for our visit to Yellowstone. Only a 45 minute drive into the East Entrance with amazing views the whole way there. Would love to stay here again.

Perfect location to see the Park

We found this to be a great place to see the park. It was closer to the than Cody and the view was wonderful. We enjoyed the hot tube in the evenings and the accommodations were perfect for us. The host gave us tips on the must see in the park which was a great help in planning our trips to yellow stone. Wonderful stay, highly recommend.

Like being in a Western movie set!!!

This beautiful Wyoming cottage is excellent- beautiful views on the deck in the front and in the back, and from every window! You will be right in the middle of real, authentic Western country..... and not too far from the city of Cody for a fantastic museum experience and a nighttime rodeo! Additionally, the eastern gate of Yellowstone awaits only a half hour away. Amazing, gorgeous drives are all around the area, which the owners kindly assist in planning with their guests. The gracious hostess of the cottage makes beautifully presented and delicious tasting breakfasts everyday for the guests who are fortunate enough to stay at this cozy retreat. You couldn't stay at a more relaxing place than this.... and with the most genuine and caring owners!!!!

AMAZING!!

Everything was perfect. From the check in, communication with the host, sleeping arrangements, cleanliness, and the yummy food - our stay was just right! In fact, I would rate it higher if I could. The cottage had everything we needed. The view is spectacular. The hosts were warm, welcoming, and even gave us tips on where to go in Yellowstone. In addition, the location was perfect to travel to the East Gate of Yellowstone National Park. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

Perfect place to stay!

Accommodations were comfortable. We stayed in the cottage. Bed was very comfortable. Nice decks to enjoy a glass of wine. Rod & Suzie were wonderful! They quickly felt like long time friends. The breakfast was incredible. The two mornings we left early thinking we would miss breakfast - nope Suzie packed us a wonderful box breakfast! Beautiful night sky! Highly recommend!

Suzie and Rod have been married for over 30 years. They met in Cody Wyoming where Suzie was born and raised. They moved to California, where Rod grew up, and raised three wonderful children, Ben, Sara and Sam. Rod retired after a 28 year career with East Bay Municipal Utility District where he helped manage 28,000 acres of open space as a Ranger Supervisor, coached lots of the kids’ sports teams, and took the family skiing, hunting and fishing. Suzie chauffeured the children to all their events, worked for various catering businesses, and owns and operates Suzie’s Cookies.

We also own and operate Grub Steak Expeditions, where we provide tours to Yellowstone National Park and surrounding areas. Please contact us if you’d like to book a tour with Grub Steak Expeditions. We also have four cats and two dogs. All of our animals are outside animals, but the cats come running when guests arrive and expect to accompany them into the house.
