BEACHES & CRITTERS: The beach size in Hawaii varies month to month due to heavy surf, strong currents and tides. Due to Maui’s rural atmosphere you may experience the occasional rooster, as well as harmless geckos. Geckos are friendly, eat insects, and are considered good luck in Hawaii. Please don’t kill them.

IMPORTANT: Although the HOA schedules regular professional pest control services, pests such as ants, roaches and rodents simply cannot be completely controlled in the tropics. Hawaii is located in a tropical climate, and insects, rodents and lizards flourish in this environment. If our guest spot more than the normal expected pests, we always make our best efforts to contact and work with the HOA to minimize your interactions with these pests. Any contact with such pests within or outside the unit does not constitute a breach of this Agreement or give Guest any right to any refund or rental adjustment.

In general all is ok. Clean. Old towels , old washer and dryer made a lot noise, but we were happy to have it. Well stuffed kitchen . I would stay there again.

Great stay. Super friendly staff. Good amenities. Right on the beach. Close to all the points of interest on the west side of the island. Wish I had more time to enjoy all the resort had to offer. Definitely must come back

Birds of paradise

Amazing choice for my family and I . Had a few issues with the room, television remotes did not work properly , bedroom light glitched the entire time ( kept it off to avoid a headache) and the beds were like sleeping on a cement floor. Everything was amazing, but waking up with tremendous amount of pain in mine and my husband's back was horrendous. They were willing to relocate us into a different room , but each room was a downgrade. No disrespect , Wish we could go back and just sleep comfortably. Other than that , the location of the room was perfect and we enjoyed the sounds of the birds chirping every single morning. Definitely needed this vacation . Thank you Terry for all that you have done to keep the families happy at Aston Kannapali' Shores. 😊

Lahaina is a bustling old town of Hawaii, and is definitely more tourist centred, the Aston Kanapalli shores has two pools, a restaurant and beautiful gardens that have to be seen to believe. Although it doesn't have a dedicated beach, there are numerous beaches only 5 - 15 minutes away and for kids Baby beach is the Ultimate beach for families, snorkelling is great and vertually no waves. Could not recommend this resort more, if you book, book the "Garden view" this particular unit had a very close view of the ocean, to watch the whales every morning. What a beautiful place, will be coming here again!

Ka'anapali Shores vacation for my wife's birthday.

The property is great in many ways. The entire property is well maintained.It is in a very good location with big pools and 2 HOT TUBS that I especially like for my aches and pains. We make this at least an annual event and some years we visit with our 2 Granddaughters as we are doing later this year. The Beach Club restaurant is very reasonably priced with a very good menu. The restaurant employees are especially nice and most times know you by name. The front desk staff we have seen for a number of years and are always helpful for anything we asked them. We especially like Liz & Dawn at the front desk when we check in or check out or want to inquire about a certain unit on the complex. We love talking to Liz on our visits. She will always take the time to talk to us. We consider her a friend and an asset to Ka'anapali Shores. We highly recommend this property.

Vacation in paradise

This is a great property in a great complex. The location is amazing, walking distance to restaurants and grocery, and right on the beach. The balcony has a nice partial ocean view perfect for a morning coffee. The room has a great layout and has all amenities you need.

I was pretty upset that the listing said Beach when there is zero beach however there is an ocean... Especially if you're that kind of person that expects a beach that you can sit on and swim. I contacted the manager there wasn't much they could do in fact they couldn't do anything. I just don't enjoy starting off my vacation on a sour note.. that being said the location of this complex ideal. As long as you don't mind driving get to a swimming beach they are not far. I would stay here again as long as I knew that ahead of time. It is very centrally located housekeeping service was absolutely on the ball. If you like soft towels you better bring your own . Pools were nice but definitely overcrowded. I guess the question is would I stay here again and the answer is ..yes I would stay here again. As long as the cost was reasonable which ours was but if you pay more there are definitely more updated higher-end units all around. PS they said the beach is there sometimes and I found out from the locals that is not true!!

Great place!

We really enjoyed our stay here. The unit is spacious and super clean. We watched a whale leap out of the ocean right from the room. The resort is in a great location. So amazing!

Staff is very friendly and helpful! There is a wide parking selection that makes access to every room easy & convenient. LOVED the floor to ceiling doors to the balcony.... a gorgeous view but still provided privacy and blocked out the sound when closed. Looking forward to bringing family and friends back for our next stay.

5th Maui vacation

4th time staying at the resort but first time booking through VRBO. Was in a first floor condo garden view and was about $600 cheaper than going through the resort during this stay. Condo is nice and very convenient being on the ground floor. No resort fee, no maid service. I don't use maid service and didn’t mind not having access to the DVD rentals. Got free gym access passes too. Parking $9 per day. Terry is very quick with responding to questions and very informative. Everything went smooth and it was a great vacation with this booking having a great price. We’ll be back again for sure.

Loved the location, the view, and the property

Terry was superb in his prompt responses and we appreciated having the suite we were assigned. The unit is spacious and clean and we loved the balcony & the view! The updated kitchen was great although sparsely equipped. Still had what we needed. We would come back to the Kaapanali Shores and to the unit again if we came back as a couple! The location is convenient and we love the proximity to everything (Black Rock/Kapalua/Honolua) Thank you Terry! We had an amazing and memorable time celebrating our 22nd anniversary in Maui!

An Honest Property Manager

booked the room for five days but the first night was spent sleeping in the car. A wild fire had burned down to the ocean and the main road to the west side of the island was completely cut off. No one could get to their hotels on the west side, and workers on the west side couldn't go back to their home on the east side. I called Terry Tagawa the property manager who said he would refund the first night if I couldn't make it through. He offered advice, and the phone numbers of the shelters. The next day was fine, and the stay was fantastic. Terry refunded the first night. He was an honest guy.

Perfect for a family

The condo was just as advertised and perfect for our family of five. The fold out couch and chaise were plenty big enough for our three young kids. The property had everything we needed—a private beach, two pools, and two hot tubs. Housekeeping service was a huge bonus. Typically when we rent a condo, that isn’t included and the household chores follow on the vacation. The condo is located on the first floor, with a patio and garden view. While it could get noisy with other vacationers, it was perfect because it was accessible and close to everything. The location was nice as well—on the far end of Kaanapali and accessible to the boardwalk—a wonderful running route. It was a perfect family vacation.
