We’ve used VRBO, HomeAway, for 10 years, staying at 45-50 apartments, and we have a guest rating of 5 stars. This is the first time we have used such a rating. Positives are: good location, spacious, plenty of storage. That’s it. We needed air-conditioning, a lift, and a washer, knowing it would be hot, late July-early August. So we booked almost a year ahead to get these features for our 2 week stay. No lift, no AC. Owner showed us two fan units and insisted they were AC. Only after taking a cooking lesson in her apartment the next night did we Discover SHE had real AC. So the following night, we complained that the heat was intolerable; only then did she have her son bring over one of her real AC units. So every day, we had to disconnect and reconnect to lift and move huge, heavy piece from living area to bedroom to get any relief from the sweltering apt. Fireplace smelled, gas stove didn’t work, until we cleaned the greased over burners, and rooms were dark. Entire place needs top to bottom cleaning, floors especially, cupboard doors, table top! Bathroom is located at far rear of unit, through bedroom, up 6 stairs, down a hall, and then you arrive. Simply not up to the standards we have come to expect from your company. Lying about amenities and presenting a dirty old apartment is unacceptable. Owner offered to refund our money, but at this busy season with one day notice, where could we possibly go. So “we cleaned and managed”. We took many pictures of the condition of the apartment, if needed.
