Don't be deceived by other properties in Rocky Point that claim proximity to the ocean, only to find out later that you have to drive or walk for miles before you reach the beach. And even if you reach the beach, you may find a rocky beach. That is not the case with Sonoran Sea, which is located in 'Sandy Beach'. Why is it called Sandy Beach? Because it is! The area of Sandy Beach is the first major resort area in Rocky Point to include all underground utilities (gas, water and electricity). Nice place

Aside from the bedding smelling musty as if it hasn’t been dried all the way, and the refrigerator door not shutting unless you push it shut, this was a good place to stay.

Hi Jessica. Thank you for your comments. I've reported them to our cleaning crew. Although everything is thoroughly washed prior to every arrival, August and September are the most humid months of the year. Perhaps that's what happened. And regarding the refrigerator door, this is the first report, so I will have maintenance look into it.

We would like to address this review which did not provide any specific details. It is important to provide you with the full context to ensure a fair assessment of our property and services. To begin, we would like to share some background on the guest who left the review. Upon their arrival, this individual and their spouse contacted us in an agitated manner, expressing frustration with their inability to connect to the internet. We promptly inquired about the login information, which was clearly provided in their confirmation, welcome package, kitchen manual, and refrigerator sticker. Surprisingly, they had been attempting to use the login displayed on the phone company's router. Once they realized their oversight, they profusely apologized for not reading the welcome package or any of the other sources where the correct internet login was clearly stated. Additionally, the guest reported an issue with water coming out of the washer and dishwasher. We want to emphasize that our instructions explicitly state that the water in Mexico is soft, requiring less detergent for both appliances. Despite this clear guidance, we immediately dispatched our crew to address the situation and thoroughly clean the affected areas. We maintained constant communication with the guest via telephone and email, following up at every step to ensure their satisfaction. Regrettably, when we asked the guest if there were any other matters requiring attention, they indicated that there were none. It is disheartening when someone who is upset chooses not to communicate any additional concerns to us directly, instead opting to post a negative review without providing any specific details. We would like to assure you that we take great care in presenting our property accurately. We include plenty of photos on VRBO, enabling potential guests to have a clear and realistic understanding of the unit's appearance. We appreciate your understanding of the situation and hope that this additional information allows you to make an informed decision when considering our property.

Clean and Nice...

The property is nice and clean. Nitpicking details: There was a burner on the stove that doesn't work. The knives were as dull as knives can be. The furniture on the patio is cheap plastic and one of the chairs collapses when you sit on it. Other than that we were very pleased with our stay.

Thanks for the feedback, Darin. I will have maintenance check on the burner. We usually revamp all our units during the slow season (now) and will be replacing kitchen utensils, knives, etc. Also, the chairs that were in the patio were there temporarily while we did some repairs on the set we had which has now been moved back.

Not what we expected

The check in process was awkward and we had to pay an additional cash fee that we were not informed about prior. The staff was rude and unwilling to break my 100 dollar bill to cover said fee. I had to make change with another guest. We were disappointed with this unit. The refrigerator and stove are in need of repair. The stove had only one burner that worked, which is not functional while cooking for a family. The bottom of the fridge was on the floor when we arrived. There were not many supplies to cook with or use. The dishwasher buttons are cracked & we were afraid to use it for fear of it breaking completely. The unit was dated and needed better cleaning. There are no curtains in the main room where my daughter slept in the pull out couch, with the sun shining in around 6am.

In terms of the curtains in the living room, we intentionally do not have them in both of our units because the sun does not hit this side of the building, and the view is unobstructed. We have not received any complaints about this in the past, but we understand that preferences can vary. We are disappointed to learn about the issues you experienced with the oven, refrigerator, and dishwasher. In the welcome package we sent, we encouraged guests to contact us if they encountered any problems during their stay. We wish you had reached out to us during your visit, as we could have sent a technician to address the issues immediately. However, we appreciate you bringing this to our attention, and we will have these appliances inspected and repaired as necessary. Once again, we apologize for any inconvenience you experienced during your stay. We take all feedback seriously and will use it to improve the overall experience for future guests.

I had the worst experience of my life and trust me I have traveled everywhere. Owner Mel and his assistant are the worst host ever. This place is horrible for the price you will think is an amazing place but nope is no worth it. There was no cold water we had to shower with hot water for 4 nights imagine that. Plus the blankets and pillows were dirty and the place smell like musty. Can you believe that in a middle of a pandemic a place will be dirty with no cold water to even shower properly when you are paying almost $300 dollars per night and all you want to do is have a fun and relaxing vacation with your family. Is just unbelieve how can people take advantage. Expedia needs to make sure that they don't do business with this owners that post their properties through Vrbo if they don't know have good customer service skills. Anyhow never in my lifetime I will ever booked with this people.

First time we stay here.

We were pleasantly surprised because this was the first time we stayed at this resort. We will be coming back although on a lower level floor. The elevators are very inadequate for the amount of rooms.

Hi Louis. Thanks for staying with us. I'm curious about your comment regarding the elevators. There are 37 privately owned condos (not rooms) in each tower. There are two elevators per tower. I've never heard anyone complain about our elevators which are exactly the same size as every resort on Sandy Beach and are sufficient for the number of units. Unless you mean you would like to rent a villa on the ground floor (which we also own), staying in a lower floor condo would not make a different. However, the views from our penthouse are unparalleled.

Great View

We had a great time and enjoyed the property and the balcony view very much. It was peaceful and relaxing, just the way we like. We had one issue and it was minor, no TV and the toilet seat one of the hinges was broke. TV is not so important but I do like to watch in bed every night to go to sleep.

Hello Eduardo. We provide clean water. There are ice cube makers inside the freezer. Perhaps you missed them. The TV cable has been down for some time. Sorry about that. However, we provide access to Netflix, Amazon Video, ROKU, etc.

You stayed during a sold out weekend. There is nothing we can do about noisy hallways. You never once requested additional blankets. You had plenty of ways to contact us and we could have responded to your request. It doesn't help to complain after you have already left.

Hope they knew

View was great , elevators worked half the time. Changos kept us up till 1am every night. On arrival one of 2 vases on patio was broken and when we went to grab broom to sweep up before parting, a stench was coming from stackable. The previous renters left wet towels in dryer. Overall we had a great stay, we never intended to spend time in room with no cable. We went for relaxation on the beach, which we did. And will do again next year.

Relaxing Rocky Point

The condo itself was great. Bed was very comfy, view was great, AC worked amazing as it was in the high 90s outside and beach was beautiful. Only negative was the elevator situation. Only two elevators for entire building and one elevator was out of service completely and the other elevator only seemed to work at times. So had to go up and down the 7 flights of stairs the majority of the time which wasn't horrible because we needed to burn off tacos and beers. With that said I still give this place 5 Stars....

Needs updating

Location of room is very convenient. Room could use a deep cleaning, a fresh coat of paint, and updated decor. The patio furniture consisted of 2 Adirondack chairs (not what is pictured). Those are not easy to get out of if you have hip and back issues.

Hello Stephanie, Not sure about the deep cleaning since our cleaning staff is known for being extremely detailed when cleaning all our units. I will have them check again. We always wait until the slow season to repaint our units. That time is now. Since the unit has white paint, unfortunately, it shows more when it's a high traffic unit like this. Regarding the patio chairs. We had to remove our the original one momentarily for repairs, but it is now back. Those two chairs were placed there just temporarily.

We have been coming to Rocky Point since 1999. As many Americans, we, came, we saw, and we fell in love with it. We booked our first reservation when there were just a few properties available. Standing in Sandy Beach (that is the name of the beach - it's very sandy, thus its name), we looked at the horizon and imagined that one day, instead of all-terrain vehicles cruising by and and all the campers, the landscape would drastically change.

Since Arizona does not have a beach, Rocky Point is considered Arizona's Beach. We felt that by creating a bridge between the properties and our prospective clientele would be ideal. You belong to one of these two categories: 1. You have been here before or 2. You have not (really?). For those who have been here before, you are in for a big surprise every time you visit. The landscape continues to change with no end in sight. And for those who have never been here, we would like to take this opportunity to greet you from far away and hope you give us the opportunity to be the bridge to your next vacation in your home away from home. It is hard to imagine that in only four hours and a nice scenic drive you could be in a different country that offers so much beauty, warmth and friendship, as you have never experienced before.

'Do You Dream in Blue?'. There is something magical about the color blue. The ocean and the sky brings happiness, enlightenment and, more than anything, relaxation. We are here to help you every step of the way.

Why they chose this property

I grew up along the blue waters of the Caribbean. Rocky Point allowed a short 4-hour drive from Tucson and the beach is absolutely beautiful, not to mention, the town and its people. As I said above, we came, we saw, and we fell in love with the town and have been coming back ever since. We want to share our experience with you. More than anything, it was the proximity to the ocean. If our condo were closer to the ocean, you'd get wet. There is nothing between you and the beautiful blue waters of the Sea of Cortez.

What makes this property unique

There are no words to describe the sunsets in Rocky Point. A morning or sunset walk will bring back the peace and relaxation you crave. Our 1-bedroom is located high in the building (7th floor) and you can't get a better view of the ocean and the old port at night. The condo is 871 sq ft (734 sq ft living space + 137 sq ft terrace).
