Fresh from renovation works and renamed by our 3 year old after frequent visits in the past year! Gorgeous Brunswick Beach Cottage is located in the heart of beautiful, vibrant and eclectic Hove, just off the seafront and a short 2 minute walk from Hove's high quality independent shops, cafés, restaurants, bars but still also walking distance to the exuberant central Brighton! 15 minutes walk to Brighton's central shopping district and bar culture.
Brunswick Beach Cottage is always great place of fun, whether it is for a family event or a gathering of friends, it's airy space has party feeling. As a family we love getting there as it is so different to our Country home, you feel you are in a holiday mood the moment you go through the door!
We have just completed some renovation work to incorporate our growing family; with a teenage hangout area with floor sofa that pulls out to a large sleeping area. This room opens up to the small courtyard area with bifold doors enabling this small room to feel spacious and airy listening to the seagulls above.
We have updated the master bedroom with a beautiful mural wall, new bedroom furniture for holiday needs and a deep pile carpet has been fitted throughout the bottom floor.
The bathroom has also had a facelift with pink hexagonal wall tiles and a marble herringbone floor laid, giving the room a warm and relaxing tone.
Brunswick Beach Cottage is full of history; built in 1822 and was originally the drawing rooms of Charles Busby, the internationally acclaimed architect who designed the neoclassical Brunswick Town, adjacent to which Brunswick Beach House is situated.
Today, Brunswick Beach House offers guests a unique and memorable holiday experience.
The main living area is encompassed by a stunning arched ceiling, which was rediscovered in 2001 when the property was featured on the British television series 'Grand Designs Indoors' presented by Kevin McCloud. Open plan with triple aspect windows, it is a fabulous space in which to socialise, eat and drink, or simply relax whilst enjoying the Smart / 3D television, Sound Bar and Lutron lighting system.
The cottage offers cosy nooks for adults and children, respectively. The master bedroom contains a luxurious king-sized four poster bed and has a contemporary design. In the second bedroom, there are playful and fun bunk beds for the kids to enjoy, as well as a funky alcove incorporating a double bed and a further television.
Brunswick Beach house is designed for our family with age ranges from 14 yrs to 3 yrs so we have made sure there is something for little people to do whilst older ones kick back. There are a range of toys and puzzles including a doll's house, duplo, play kitchen, small ride on car, pram, books and a magnetic wall to keep children of various ages engaged.
Brunswick Beach Cottage is fabulous, and is always a place of fun. It is well suited for families but we have accommodated many groups of adults for short stays. Sleeping arrangements are;
Bedroom 1: Sleeps 2 adults in a super king bed. Bedroom 2: Sleeps 3 adults and 2 children in a double bed, a triple bunk with a adult single and 2 junior beds (160 x 70cm, average single is 190 x 90cm) Garden room: sleeps 2 adults on a floor sofa bed
Brunswick Beach Cottage is a skip, hop and jump from the beautiful promenade. With the sea one side and Hove lawns the other, where you can play ball games or visit one of the many events often taking place in Brighton and Hove.
The wide promenade is a great place for young and old. Directly opposite the cottage the seafront is relatively unspoilt with buildings, just the odd cafe. However within 5 minutes you will reach the iconic (burnt) West Pier where you will find the newly built British airways i360, along with a arcade of new shops.
There is a lovely play park just here and a stretch of new shops. Continue a little further and you are in the heart of the Brighton beach bar culture. The cottage is just over 15 minutes walk to the Brighton Centre, 20 minutes to the start of the South laines and just under 30 minutes to Brighton Pier.
Parking There is no parking with Brunswick Beach Cottage, however there are pay and display options around the cottage. The cheapest is on the seafront (2 minutes from the cottage) at £10 for 24 hours. Previous guests have also reserved parking about 3 streets away at £15 for 24 hours. They said it worked well. This would guarantee you a parking space in advance in summer months.
When we go for more than 3 days we often park out of town for free and then make the 20min walk back as you don't need a car once you are there.

About the host
Hosted by Sarah Mcdonald
Hi I am a mum of 6 lovely kids ages 14, 12, 10, 8, 5 and 3 years. I have always loved creating. Lovely spaces keep me sane and hence the creation of Gorgeous Brunswick for all of us. As a full time mum it's important that the children have fun but me too!
Why they chose this property
It is so unique; especially after looking at so many lovely, but similar, mansion flats. The cottage blew me away with its beautiful arched ceiling and feeling of openness and light. I also loved the fact it is virtually detached and it feels like we don't have to share our little bit of Hove. Having access to this part of Hove amenities is better than central Brighton, in many respects as they are unique interesting and and of good quality. The cottage having all these features and still being close to the seafront, was the deciding factor.
What makes this property unique
I love opening the bio fold doors on a warm morning, you feel the sea air and hear the sea gulls. When you step out the shower and walk through to the bedroom it feels like you are on holiday. I also love the convenience of the cottage, sending my husband out for speciality coffee and pastries in the morning is a treat. On his return the we tend to read, chat whilst the children play opposite in a small enclosed patio in the the sunshine. When I initially bought the cottage it was its location to the sea I wanted. If you get up early and walk by the sea before the day feels spoiled with the crowds you feel truly blessed. The location to the seaside is perfect, nipping back to fetch the forgotten wine bottle opener is not such a drag as you are closer to the cottage than the public toilets for the beach in Hove! Then in the evening there is an arrary of near by pubs, restaurants and a faboulous wine bar within a short walking distance.
