Cowgirl couldn't have been better!
This cabin was an absolute perfect retreat. Privacy, peace and quiet. Scenery was beautiful. Welcome basket was a nice touch. Even in summer heat the cabin was comfortable at night. This place is a keeper. The owners are priceless!
Response from VrboOwner on 26 March 2020
So glad you enjoyed your summer getaway in what truly was one of our hottest weeks! While it is true that Cowgirl is super popular in cooler months like spring, early summer and fall, we have had more and more staying with us in the heat of summer and finding it an enjoyable experience... nights cool off on the Plateau normally and days are spent finding nearby lakes, rivers and waterfalls to swim in and cool off in... So we guess summer is turning into a popular stay too! Hope to see you back soon! (Papa's welcome baskets including his homemade cookies are always a hit!) See you on down the road!

Incredible
We stayed at the cowgirl for the eclipse (Aug 20-22). Let me start by saying this cabin absolutely has everything you may need for a "glamping" experience! Every detail of the cabin, shower, and privy are well thought out. You will find so many personal touches and treats to make you feel welcome! The owners of the property are super sweet and offered to help us with any questions or concerns that we could have. There is a porch shop at the office that offers homeade jams, honey, soaps, and more. We were able to explore the hiking trails on the property and the fishing pond too. We are looking forward to our next visit!

Thank you! Loved having you all here. Look forward to your next visit and maybe you can get some of Papa's cooking with delivery to the cabin next time! Thanks for visiting!
Glamping at it's finest! Perfect for those who are less confident about camping and for experienced campers who want to camp without the work! The property is beautiful and there's really no reason to leave but the trails near by are amazing. Great time!
The perfect mix of peace, tranquility, southern charm, and rustic mystic. Perfect for couples and small families. Amy was a great host. We can't wait to go back!
This was amazing to stay here. Loved everything about it and Amy was an Amazing host. Totally recommend this to anyone. Already had friends from Florida go and stay a week after i did. Have and enjoy the views

Truly got away from it all!
We were going to go camping but I really did not want to truly "rough it"...the Cowgirl Cabin has a lovely bed and deck, all the amenities you could need for an upscale outdoorsy weekend, or longer! We enjoyed a campfire each night and the sounds of the woods and trains in the distance. Ilakea is a gracious host and her father makes a wonderful pizza and OH THE BISCUITS, you must try them! We will go back as soon as we can. I didn't miss a thing...(tv, air condtioning, etc.)
We hiked the trails on the grounds and hung around the fishing pond a bit. It was early September, the weather could not have been nicer. The thing I loved the most was the quiet. Just so quiet. I read my book and enjoyed my dogs and the views most of the time. We did grill steaks one night and my boyfriend took a short drive to go visit a nearby waterfall.
The hosts provide a lot of directions on where to go nearby (i never left the property the whole weekend) and how to use the rain water supply for showering , etc. Outdoor showering and outdoor privy are part of the adventure!
We purchased some lovely soaps and preserves for gifts at the front porch store on our way out.
Highly recommend for people who love the outdoors but maybe aren't totally into roughing it anymore, like me!

Thank you so much for such a lovely review. You summed up the Cowgirl Glamping experience perfectly - camping with pampering! Lots of waterfall hikes and country adventures in our area but a lot of our guests end up relaxing at the cabin like you did. I'll let Papa Phil (my 86 year old father) know how much you enjoyed his country cooking with delivery to the cabin... You all were great guests and we so enjoyed having you here and look forward to your next visit!

CITY GIRL CAMPS AND SURVIVES!!!
Country guy meets city girl and to meet in the middle they GLAMP!! Ever experience a night without power? You survived? Well - this is so much better!! Totally in love with the comfy bed and down comforter. Beautiful meadow and rain drops on a tin covered roof meld for a wonderful morning! Add a toasty wood burning stove, glorious bluberry muffins, homemade butter and freshly squeeze orange juice and you begin to wish every day could be just like this!! Love the dutch door view while taking a potty squat! Sunshine warmed water is your shower and birds are your radio! Visit the local establishments and you might consider moving! Super sweet owner! Cannot wait to return!
Response from VrboOwner on 26 March 2020
Thank you! Thank you! So glad we have another city girl converted to a country adventure! It does add to the magic when one of Papa Phil's picnic breakfasts or artisan pizzas are delivered to your cabin door! Looking forward to seeing you all again! Cowgirl is open seasonally from mid-April to mid-November so hope to see you next spring! If you want to come this winter, why not try a stay in our fully equipped country cottages (208199 and 191274).

Perfect!
This place was perfect!!! The only thing we hated was having to leave! Two days was only enough time to know we will be back! Everything was perfect and the owners were awesome! I will discourage anyone from booking this place so that we can have more dates available to book for ourselves. LOL!!! Couples that tent camp will fall in love with this place! Great place to go off the grid and reconnect!!

So glad you all had fun and looking forward to your next visit! Something nice about camping with a bed and a few extra trimmings! Cowgirl seems to be a hit with all and everyone comments how much they unwind and dis-connect from stress there... getting back to basics with a little country pampering thrown in!

Wouldn't change a thing! Loved it!
LOVED IT! Stayed at a Cowgirl Glamping Cabin last fall and was a little skeptical but my husband wanted to camp for a week and I wanted a bed so we compromised. Was truly magical experience, experiencing sounds of nature and reconnecting with my sweetie without a lot of distractions! When cabin fever hit we headed out to nearby attractions and wineries and had lots of options as great tourism info in cabin on surrounding area. Highlight was visiting several nearby waterfalls and renting a boat on Watts Bar Lake When we did not feel like cooking, we ordered Papa Phil’s pizza for cabin delivery… the best pizza we ever ate or headed to nearby restaurants (great list in cottage of restaurant suggestions)! My husband totally enjoyed cooking on the campfire grill set and I loved the outdoor rustic shower and the outhouse privey did not smell at all and so cute inside! We learned all about composting toilets, solar showers, and rain water systems! Fun! We just loved our stay. We’ll be back!

Cowgirl Cabin Get Away
Staying in the cowgirl cabin was like camping with all the comforts of a house. It felt so cool to be 'off-grid' or 'outback' but to still have a real bed to sleep in with big cozy blankets. My girlfriend and I arrived not knowing what to expect and when we saw the cowgirl cabin we fell in love. So much thought went into each an every aspect of the cabin, the old antique interior design really makes it feel like we just tied our horses up right outside.
The view is incredible! The pasture that you look out over defines what a beautiful pasture looks like. With the cluster of trees in the middle it truly looks like a postcard. We really enjoyed waking up to this view and sitting by the fire pit in the evening watching the sky turn to night.
You can really tell that Ilaeka and Papa Phil care about the comfort of their guests, everything is so thought out and designed for pure relaxation. It was a romantic, relaxing weekend that recharged us for the coming weeks at school and work. Not to mention the food is amazing! Anything Papa Phil makes is out of this world delicious.
We loved our stay and can't wait to come back!

Let me introduce a memorable Cowgirl
I love this cabin!
For my stay, my friends had rented the Honeysuckle cabin (also a lovely rental) but we ended up with too many folks. Fortunately, I was able to move to the Cowgirl cabin for a couple of days (it was not officially open for rentals yet) and I just fell in love with it. The temperature was perfect for open air sleeping and I was able to leave the sliding doors open all night -thanks to a (rather chic) canopy mosquito netting around the bed. I awoke to an amazing peach colored sunrise with a mist moving in and out of the pasture below; I know it sounds corny, but sitting there in bed, listening to the sounds of nature and absorbing a beautiful moment, I appreciated what an awesome job they had done in creating this cabin and what a pleasure it was to be there. This is not a shack someone tossed up in the back 40 just to rent out; It is however, built with heart and soul, and that labor of love shines through the moment you arrive; From being perfectly tucked into the shaded top corner of a private pasture surrounded by woods, to the little appointments and the simple- yet functioning amenities, I can’t help but smile when I think of the Cowgirl.
I highly recommend this cabin to anyone who enjoys the ideals of camping- but still likes a comfy bed to climb into.
And definitely order the homemade Pizza! For anyone who has not stayed at the Grandview Mountain Cottages it is awesome! And for any repeat customers like me, well, you know what I’m talking about.

Thanks for a great review! We always love having you and your friends visit us and appreciate your test run of Cowgirl Cabin last summer! Cowgirl is a unique experience... deconnecting with tech and connecting with mother nature can really be a magical experience! Looking forward to your next visit!
PS Papa Phil thanks you for his pizza comments too! His artisan pizzas, cookies, farm goodies and fresh baked breads delivered to our guests is a bit hit!

VRBO is the perfect solution to really getting to know an area and the people. I learned from a very wise friend right out of college that the goal when visiting a new place is to be a, "traveler not a tourist." I am quiet, early to bed and lead a very healthy lifestyle. Happy to share some banter but also great and keeping to my own and out of the way. Please fire away with any questions to assure that we are a good fit...
