Great Host

The description is accurate. It's an older house, so there are some older house qualities. Has great towels and sheets as stated in the listing. I liked the nespresso machine. Could have used a toaster. Host was responsive via text, and we didn't have any problems during our stay.

Great house in Detroit just off 8 mile

We recently had the pleasure of staying at Terry's place in Detroit, situated in a secure residential neighborhood just off 8 Mile. To be candid, while there aren't any restaurants in the immediate vicinity, a quick 15-minute drive unlocks a plethora of dining options. One slight hiccup was that Terry did not respond to several of our queries regarding local eateries and craft breweries. At first, this was somewhat disheartening, but once we were there and realized the lack of options nearby, it made a bit more sense. For future guests, I'd recommend doing some research on dining options beforehand. For those tech-savvy guests, Terry's place offers a slick entry system via the "Autumn" app. Downloading and setting it up was a breeze. However, a quick heads-up, there are Alexa devices in each of the bedrooms. Some might find this addition convenient, while others might feel it a tad intrusive. It’s down to personal preference. On to the positives: the house photos provided were spot-on. There was no disparity between the online presentation and the actual property. The home comfortably accommodated our group of 4 adults. The layout consists of three bedrooms on the main floor along with a bathroom. The lower level houses an additional bedroom, 1.5 bath,and a family room. The kitchen was a particular highlight for us – spacious and well-equipped. Terry offered the use of the garage, though we found the driveway more than sufficient for our parking. Would we stay again - yes!

Family trip

Our Stay at Terry’s home was excellent for our annual family reunion. The location was close to major freeways and streets that made our travel easy to get around the city. The place is extremely quiet and I would recommend families, solo travelers, couples, and a small group. The bedrooms were clean and spacious as well as the kitchen with all the amenities needed. Terry was very responsive which made us feel welcomed and glad to have stayed here. We’ll be back for sure.

This is a very nice house in a quiet neighborhood

We were in town for a conference, but did not want the noise and business of a hotel stay. This house was perfect. It has everything you need, plenty of room and was only a short drive to where our conference was. We would definitely stay here again.

I'm an American, born in Florida, but grew up most of my life in Detroit and have been living in Switzerland since 2006. I've also lived in Ohio, Wisconsin, Tennessee, Arizona, and Washington D.C. where I attended Howard University to study Chemical Engineering. I've traveled to more countries than I'd care to remember, but I still enjoy exploring new places. I'm a host using my US homes in Detroit for vacation rentals when I'm not there. Having this experience has been more enjoyable than I had imagined. Meeting such a diverse group of wonderful people from all over the world has really been a pleasure.

About the Neighborhood:
The Berg-Lahser Community is in Detroit's District 1 and hugs the city's northwest side, with Grand River Avenue, Telegraph Road and 8 Mile Road [some of the state's oldest trading lines], as its main thoroughfares. The house is truly in the center of Metro-Detroit being within 25 mins of Downtown, the airport, Farmington (5 min), Southfield (2 min), Royal Oak, Birmingham, Livonia, and Dearborn.

The community has an active association of 1700 homeowners who take pride in landscaping and maintaining their homes in this modern, well-maintained area. They are organized to promote cooperation and have a voice in all civic manners affecting the community.

The home is beautifully remodeled and is a great blend of traditional charm and modern amenities. There are plenty of places within a few minutes to shop and eat.

What makes this property unique

We take a lot of care in decorating our places to make them stylish, interesting, comfortable, and inviting. We don't do IKEA filled vacation rentals! Artwork, mirrors, and decorative details are a part of our identity.

There are two living spaces in the house to offer plenty of room to relax. The living and dining area on the main floor has a 50-inch smart-TV with cable channels and a stereo for listening to music. In the basement, there is a lounge area with plenty of seating and a 55-inch smart-tv. It's a great chill spot or an area just for the kids to hang out. There is also an office area with a Mac computer to surf the web or get some office work done.
