Villa Salis is a 155 m2 stone-built cottage, originally built in 1955 and renovated in 2014 to its current form. Located in a narrow street in the village of Gonia, just 10 km away from Rethymno city and beach, this cozy villa can accommodate 8 guests in its 4 bedrooms and up to 10 people if necessary. Also, just 100 meters away from the villa, you can find a famous local tavern, where you can taste authentic Cretan cuisine and interact with the locals.

Beautiful Home

We enjoyed our stay here very much. The owner was very responsive to our needs. He brought us pastries and stocked the refrigerator with food. The property has a lot of space and would be great for multiple couples as each room allows for a lot of privacy. The outdoor space was very nice and the home is close to a small village. This property was a great choice for our family of six. There was an additional space we didn’t even need to use. We highly recommend staying here.

Family Stay

Great layout for our family of 9. We had 3 separate families and it accommodated us well. The pool and hot tub were beautiful and great outdoor space was enjoyed by all. We had a toddler traveling with us, so we did have to be cautious for his safety on this property. Beautiful village setting with quaint authentic eatery in walking distance. We did have difficulty finding the property and streets were difficult to navigate with our large van. We arrived later than expected due to this. A different check in process would be helpful to avoid owner waiting. We also had an issue with the air conditioner in one unit and hot water. All in all, a beautiful accommodation

We loved our time in Crete

We enjoyed every minute of our stay in Crete. First off, a rental car is probably needed in order to get around the island and certainly to navigate to the rental. The rental is tricky to find. We ended up called our contact and he navigated the way for us. The rental is in a lovely town. We used the services through the booking agent to arrange a taxi for our son and his friend from the airport. We also arranged two boating trips which were the highlight of the stay. Our favorite locations on the island were 1. Preveli Beach on the south side of the island (amazing hike to get there and it's stunning!) 2. Balos lagoon (via boat) and 3. exploring Rethymnon - eating at the restaurants overlooking the bay.

Village Home Gave Us a Local Experience that was Outstanding!

It was awesome to stay in a traditional home in a local village! We were met by our host Yanni who was very accommodating. The home was clean, updated and well appointed. Two of the 4 bedrooms are in separate buildings on the property and are en-suite with bath and are very private. Bedroom 3 and 4 are in main house with kitchen, dining and living area, and shared bath. The 4th bedroom lacks a bit of privacy as it is loft style with open walls, above bedroom 3. This was fine for us, but you must be cognizant that noises from kitchen/ dining area will be heard by anyone in loft bedroom. Also this a stone house, and while very quaint, some might be surprised by the lack of windows. We thought it was a really cool place. Pool and hot tub were nice for kicking back after daily adventures! You get all the local feel with neighbors tending to their gardens, dogs and cats making friends, and celebrations occurring at the church nearby. Local taverns were also great to explore, some within walking distance. Everywhere we went, we were welcomed with warm, Grecian hospitality! We did encounter a water issue due to a broken pipe in town, and as soon as we alerted our host, he called the municipality to see what was happening, kept us informed, and brought many bottles of water to get us over the hump. We could not ask for more and would recommend this home without hesitation and would absolutely stay here again!

Beautiful house in a small, friendly village

I cannot fault the experience we had from our first enquiry about the booking until the last day of our stay. Kostas, the property manager was so efficient and helpful - nothing was too much trouble. Even though we arrived after 11.30pm Michael, the owner was there to welcome us with his wife and daughter(they live in the village). We have never had such a welcome before and we have stayed in many villas. The fridge was stocked with milk, water, fresh fruit, coffee, bread and jam - all we needed for breakfast on our first morning. The house itself was spotlessly clean and furnished to a very high standard. The pool is quite small but perfect for cooling off in - it was very hot when we were there. The house was cleaned half way through our weeks stay and a lovely bowl of cherries left for us. The village has a small shop which sells all the basics and the staff are very friendly and spoke some English. Sadly, the Taverna in the village which is very popular in the area was closed for renovation but there was a small grill/takeaway where we ate one night which was very good. The villa is about a 20 minute drive from Rethymnon which has a huge selection of restaurants and shops in the lovely old city. We had a wonderful meal at The Lemon Tree. It was then another hours easy drive on good roads to Chania which is very beautiful. The location of the villa was also great to reach the south of Crete as the Island is at it's narrowest here. It was a lovely drive via a spectacular gorge to the mountain village of Spili and then on to the coast. I would have no hesitation in recommending Villa Sallis to anyone. Thank you to Kostas and to Michael and his family for looking after us so well.

A fantastic property and location

We had a wonderful time here. The host and agents were fantastic and extremely helpful, I can’t give a better review in terms of the help they gave us, it really was great. The villa was spotless with all amenities that you would need and had clearly been refurbished recently to a very high standard. The location is very quiet but only a 4 minute stroll to a small market and an absolutely fantastic Taverna - don’t miss this place it was one of the highlights of our time in Crete. The location was also excellent as we could hop over to the South of the island easily and to Rethymno and into Chania and Heraklion (although longer drives). I highly recommend the villa, the owner and the agent

Nice Villa and Owner in the middle of creta

We had been there with 9 people for 8 nights. The villa offers 4 bedrooms an integrated living room/kitchen and outside environment with small pool, a whirlpool and some space to sit around with the family for breakfast, barbecue and having some cold drinks during the evening. Owner of the villa was very polite and very helpful if something happen or any information was needed (house, area, island, sightseeing...). Gonia by itself is a very quite and small village, but not too far away from next city (Rethymno). You have to use a car to get around from Gonia. We would come back and get in touch again with agency and owner, if we will schedule next creta vacations. Many thanks from all family members.

villa magnifique

le propriétaire a restauré avec beaucoup de goût la vieille maison de sa grand-mère. La demeure est spacieuse, conviviale, avec de beaux espaces extérieurs, superbe petite piscine et jacuzzi bienvenu aprés une journée de ballade ! la maison permet à une "grande famille" (nous étions 9), de ne pas se géner. articulée en plusieurs espaces privatifs cette propriété permet à chacun de vivre sa vie sans déranger les autres. Gonia est idéalement situé par rapport à Rethymno et la taverne du village, orchestrée par Mariana & Niko propose une excellente cuisine traditionnelle. le propriétaire est trés à l'écoute et intervient sur un simple appel et l'agence ETOURI est tout à fait performante. Nous réserverons certainement à nouveau cette propriété !

Great villa for a group of friends

Awesome villa with a small pool and jacuzzi + dining table outside, grill, probably everything you can think of for a great holiday. A bit hard to reach the first time, so try to stick to the main road and don't take any shortcuts. Upon arrival, we were gritted with some food and water in the fridge which was great. The owner Kostas was very friendly and there is also whatsapp number to stay in touch and ask questions or so. When our dishwasher capsules were finished, we asked for more and they were delivered very quickly to the house - great service in addition to a beautiful villa. Also, an entrance to the fancy beach at Rethymno was arranged for us with some free drinks and fruits which was also very nice surprise. So, I recommend it very much and I think they have more villas managed by the same people, so I expect the level of service would be the same on those.

Magnifique villa dans un petit village très calme

Nous avons beaucoup apprécié notre séjour. La maison, construite sur la base d'une ancienne demeure en pierres, a été réalisée avec beaucoup de goût et d'attention. Les propriétaires sont absolument charmants, nous ont donné de bons conseils et ont même rempli le frigo avant notre arrivée. Un mini-supermarché et trois tavernes (dont une, Androulidakis, est vraiment à recommander!) sont à cinq minutes à pieds (ou quelques secondes avec les vélos fournis).

Casa splendida e molto accogliente

La casa è proprio come la immaginavamo vedendo le foto. Arredata con gusto, molto accogliente e pulita, silenzio e privacy impagabili. Si trova in un paesino a pochi chilometri dalle spiagge, è consigliabile l'affitto di un'automobile per vedere tutte le bellezze dell'isola. Molto apprezzata la vasca idromassaggio nei momenti di relax. La signora Sophia della Etouri Vacation è stata molto disponibile e pronta a rispondere a qualsiasi nostra richiesta. Appena arrivati siamo stati accolti dal proprietario che ci ha fatto sentire subito bene e a nostro agio. Essendo arrivati di sera tardi avevamo chiesto al proprietario una spesa per la colazione a pagamento; in più gentilmente ci ha offerto un bel cesto di frutta fresca!! L'unico neo ... la mancanza di qualche utensile in più in cucina. Siamo tornati da poco e ci manca tantissimo .... sicuramente da consigliare! E' stata una piacevole e bella esperienza che speriamo di poter rifare ancora.

Une villa de rêve dans un petit village calme, le must 👍

A notre arrivée, quel bonheur de voir à quel point la villa, qui était deja magnifique en photos, dépassait encore nos espérances. Une propreté irréprochable, un agencement de la villa qui permettait de dormir soit dans le bâtiment principal, soit dans des annexes séparées de qq mètres et permettant d'avoir plus d'intimité. Une petite piscine et un superbe jaccuzzi ont fait notre bonheur quotidien également. La villa se trouve dans un petit village très calme où se trouvent très peu de touristes; je ne sais d'ailleurs pas s'il y en avaient d'autres que nous dans ce village. Un propriétaire très agréable et se déplaçant rapidement au moindre petit souci (juste un détecteur de fumée qui s'est déclenché pour une raison inconnue)...en quelques minutes, le propriétaire était là et a de suite réglé le problème. Prévoyez (comme nous) une voiture afin de voyager sur cette magnifique île où les habitants sont vraiment trés accueillants, tout en ne vous poussant jamais à l'achat où que vous soyez; et ce, malgré leurs difficultés financières pour beaucoup d'entre eux... Mais pour en revenir à la villa, quelle pure merveille...n'hésitez pas si vous n'avez pas peur de faire quelques kilomètres pour rejoindre la mer et la magnifique station balnéaire de rethymno située à environ 20 min en voiture. Nous y avons passé pratiquement ttes nos soirées â flaner dans un grand piétonnier rempli de boutiques de tout genres, restaurants,... Bref sans doute nos meilleures vacances en famille; et ce essentiellement grâce au luxe et à la situation calme de cette merveilleuse villa...encore merci pour tout 👌👌👌

Nous avons découvert une magnifique villa, au calme, dans un village où nous devions être les seuls touristes lol. Quelle villa magnifiquement agencée, des chambres totalement séparées, une petite piscine, un magnifique jaccuzzi, l'air conditionné partout...une propreté impeccable...sans doute la plus belle villa que l'on ait jamais loué. Propriétaire très aimable...je ne trouve aucun point négatif...vraiment un séjour superbe dans une maison de rêve. Voiture indispensable, pour info.
