we only have one rental property as this is a well loved family property that is well used by us and wider extended family too...we love it here, even though its only two miles from home!

Why they chose this property

This is an art deco house that we restored to its former glory in 2015. It is unique in being an upside down house with panoramic views out to sea from the large, open space living area with kitchen upstairs and the bathroom and bedrooms downstairs. The house is at the edge of a large farm and is a stones throw from the sea, if you are prepared to swim across the creek or wade across the mud to the beach. It can also be accessed by a lovely walk through a small number of quirky beach houses and through the Nature Reserve to a wonderfully unspoiled beach which overlooks Mersea Island and round the estuary to Brightlingsea...the perfect place to unwind and relax or enjoy a bracing walk where you are very unlikely to meet another soul.

What makes this property unique

A birdwatchers paradise...peregrine, barn owls, little owls, curlew, shelduck, kingfishers, grebe, oyster catcher, stonechat, pochard, marsh harriers to name just a few...this unique space also turns into an astronomers delight with a clear, dark sky where we have seen shooting stars galore and even the milky way. Bring a telescope or binoculars for enhanced viewing. You may like to think about a summer picnic on the beach or a swim in the sea or the creek. It's also a perfect starting point for long walks, mountain biking, running - bring your canoe or paddleboard and its a matter of 20 metres and you are in the water...if yoga is your thing you have the sundeck or can clear the furniture in the living space and it a peaceful retreat in a matter of minutes.
