About this property

The Old Post Office, Higham

The Old Post Office in the pretty village of Higham provides a wonderful base to explore the beautiful countryside of Dedham Vale, closely associated with the works of John Constable. The cottage features in his painting, The Stour Valley from Higham. This beautiful timber framed building has lots of space to relax in, with a cosy wood burning stove in the sitting room.

Dating from the 1600s, this property has a wealth of features including exposed beams and fire places and provides a perfect property for a family get-together, allowing you to have a relaxing and peaceful time exploring the local area. The charm of the original features, such as the oak floor upstairs, is balanced with the modern amenities. The ground floor comprises of a well-equipped kitchen with large Range-style cooker, a beautifully beamed sitting room with wood burning stove, a magnificent dining room curated with charming pieces, and an additional family room that makes a lovely quiet spot to sit a read.

Upstairs on the first floor, three of the four bedrooms are presented. The master bedroom hosts a king-size bed, and a cot can be placed in the alcove area just off of this room. A further king-size bed is offered in bedroom two, with a double bed available in bedroom three. These rooms are served by a bathroom featuring a bath with shower over. With its own en-suite shower room, and enjoying garden views, the fourth bedroom with king-size bed is located in a separate outside annexe.

The enclosed rear garden has a paved terrace and lawned areas, and there is outdoor dining furniture and barbecue available. This cottage welcomes dogs meaning your four-legged friend is able to join you while you explore Suffolk.
