Shugafoot Oceanfront

Shugafoot or Shugyfoot, nickname grandma gave us.

Upon your arrival at Shugafoot you will notice an updated kitchen and living area with spectacular oceanfront views. Ocean view from every bedroom. The back porch provides shelter from rain with an adjacent sundeck and bench. The back oceanview porch/deck spans the entire length of the cottage. Gorgeous sunrises, peaceful view. Dolphins commonly swim by. Great location with many restaurants nearby or enjoy a nice dinner at Shugafoot with a stocked kitchen. A gas grill is located in the driveway. All bedrooms have oceanviews. Master has a King with a new mattress and box spring with a single stack washer and dryer in the closet, the 2nd bedroom is a Queen with a new mattress and 3rd bedroom has twin beds. The storage room below has a small collection of beach toys, beach chairs and umbrella.

Parking for 2-3 cars in driveway. Dogs are welcome, dog gates have been added to allow your pets to enjoy the ocean-breeze on the shaded porch.

Best Features: Deck and Covered porch. Fantastic ocean views, Open Kitchen, Stainless Steal appliances.

The view is the best part of this house and easy access to the beach. The closed in porch was a bonus for our dog. It was chilly during our stay but that didn’t interfere with our sunrise walks on the beach! Great location! Thank you for a great stay!

We are a couple that stayed at Shugafoot in May 2026 with our corgi, Einstein. This stay was honestly one of our best trips yet and we thank this location for that! The deck at Shugafoot was honestly such a blessing. We would spend hours spotting for pelicans, ospreys and pods of dolphins. We even saw a few Guard, C130s and Navy Osprey flying along the coast. We were extremely lucky to have good weather which allowed for some good shelling finds at the beach as well!Other things we enjoyed about Shugafoot:-The large kitchen island and spacious fridge-Location (The cottage is very close to a lot of our favorite KH eats including Awful Arthur’s, John’s Drive In and Arts Place)-The views of the ocean from the living room/kitchen area-Upgrades to the cottage but still has the comforting and nostalgic coastal feeling of staying at the OBX with family We would definitely love to stay at Shugafoot in the future!

Shugafoot was perfect for a relaxing week at the beach. Mark was an exceptional host and responded quickly to all questions. The cottage was clean and very comfortable for bringing a pet. The evenings were quiet and the location was convenient to food and shopping.

Great Location

I can't say enough about this place, we have stayed here a couple time and hope to stay again in the future. Great dog friendly house and perfect location for a weekend away, not far from the bridge and right on the beach. The house was clean and the kitchen pretty well stocked with everything we needed.

Great winter stay at the beach

The house was just the right size for our family (and could have fit a few more) the location was excellent, and we loved watching dolphins from the front porch. Great sunsets and beautiful stargazing. The host was also very attentive (thank you, Mark!). We would definitely come again.

Beautiful view

Location could not be beat. Steps from the ocean and protected by a substantial dune. Hearing the waves as we fell asleep in the comfortable king bed was a plus. Sadly the place needs updating to be clean enough for us to come back.

Love the beach, property nice.

Other the Tropical Storm/Hurricane Debby causing a trip to be wet, the trip went well. This is our fifth time to the Outer Banks and we love this part of America. The house was very nice, just needs a little updating and refining.

Great cottage on the beach!

This house was perfect for my husband and I and our two dogs. The location is amazing and you can’t beat the views. We loved sitting on the porch watching the dolphins every morning! I brought a pot and pan with me based on other reviews, but found the kitchen accommodations were more than enough for a few days at the beach! Great stay!!

Relax at the OBX

It’s hard to be closer to the surf than this cottage! So convenient when setting up chairs on the beach, or when dolphin watching from the covered deck. Really enjoyed our getaway! Though be very careful when backing out from the driveway, the view to the road is a bit limited.

Everything was clean and organized. Sheets and towels provided which is not common! Rooms were a great size and everything was pretty kid friendly. I must mention the book! The Little Blue Cottage book was such a hit that we have already found it on Amazon! ordering when we get home.

Relaxed and happy

That’s how we felt, relaxed and happy staying at Shugafoot. The views are beautiful and the beach is right over the dune. Coming back from the beach we appreciated the outdoor shower to rinse off. The kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans, dishes etc.. The King bed was comfortable as well as the queen. We loved the huge deck to have coffee in the morning and later wine. Overall the place was great!
