Near new, large 70 sq m (700 sq ft), fully self-contained, 1 bedroom apartment with its own private access, situated in a quiet no-exit street with rice fields and longan orchards nearby, and only 15 odd minutes from the old city or 8 minutes from the airport.
Large floor to ceiling windows flood the apartment with muted light, and you can chill watching Netflix or hundreds of DVD movies. It’s 1 bedroom with double bed, own bathroom, and kitchen with everything in it, plus Bose stereo and 500/500 Mb free Wifi.
It's in a beautiful, private area of Chiang Mai with several outstanding Thai restaurants close by serving delicious Northern Thai Lanna food.
It's not a condo, but a free standing 1st floor apartment that's secure, and it's safe to walk around the area at night. The local Thai people are very friendly and accommodating.
There are two 2 free 21 gear mountain bikes to explore the area, as there is great cycling through the suburbs, 1.5 km to 89 Plaza shops and markets, or a 6 kms cycle into town to the clubs, restaurants, markets and Night Bazaar.
The apartment is quite new with a fully equipped kitchen, or you can visit some of the fabulous inexpensive Thai restaurants and food carts within walking or cycling distance, or order food delivered in.
But best to hire a scooter to explore further afield, as many of Chiang Mai's great adventure attractions are 20+ kms outside the city. We can recommend a suitable supplier to rent you a late model scooter, so make sure you bring your international driver's license.
The apartment has its own private access, kitchen, and bathroom, aircon, TV, Netflix, Blueray DVD player with 100's of movies, Bose stereo (with smart phone input), fridge, microwave, toaster, rice cooker, and coffee maker, filtered water on tap, etc. In the bathroom is fresh soap, shampoo and conditioner.
Our business depends on reliable high speed internet so there's fibre to the apartment which is typically 500/500 Mb up and down.
There's also a lot of information on local attractions like yoga classes, massage, Thai cooking schools, hair salon, elephant parks and coffee shops in the rainforest, motorcycle day trips through the mountains, lunch by the Huay Tung Tao lake and all the local restaurants (Thai, Vietnamese, Japanese, plus fast food delivery to the apartment) along with Boys Blues Bar for the best live blues music in Chiang Mai.

This was one of the best / most relaxing stays I had in all of ChiangMai! Geoff and Yumi were great host. So kind and welcoming. The apartment itself is modern, super clean, organized and just a dream to sleep in. Quiet neighborhood, close to markets and the city. A must stay!

About the host

Hi. I am an adventurous Kiwi who has lived and worked across the Asian region for over 20 years, most of them in Thailand. I have travelled all over South East Asia by trail bike much of it off-road and have made Chiang Mai my home, as it's such a fabulous place to live.
Has a great climate, wonderfully friendly, warm people, delicious Northern Thai food, and an unequalled, chilled out relaxed pace of life.
After 18 years here, I have a good understanding of Thai culture and also the best places to visit in Chiang Mai and surrounds depending on your preferences.
Chiang Mai is an ancient city surrounded by a moat and is a tourist mecca with a great coffee and digital culture and has all the amenities of a modern city, yet still retains its old-world charm and gentle Lanna style culture and hospitality. It has many temples, and is handy to dozens of tourist activities from bungee jumping, elephant nature parks, carousing with tigers, zip lining, and trips on a rented scooter into the neighbouring mountains.
It always has a place in the 10 Top Best Cities in the World to live as voted for by the readers of the prestigious Travel + Leisure website.
What keeps me fit and curious is off road motorcycling and running kayaking, cruises and mountain biking adventure tours down the Mekong River in Laos and building schools in remote riverside villages along the Mekong. I still do a lot of off-road motorcycling in Laos and also love to travel across the region.
Like most people here, I'm very chilled out and casual as I've been here a while, and know all the best places to eat, and visit depending on your preferences. Also all the exciting places you probably won't find listed in Lonely Planet or Trip Advisor.
Why they chose this property
I worked in Bangkok 12 years in a chaotic and hectic industry and wanted to get back to my roots of a peaceful, stress free life. I had spent a lot of time motorcycle touring in Thailand's far north and always loved Chiang Mai for it's charm and chilled lifestyle. It's always voted as one of the top cities in the world to live.
When the opportunity arose 5 years ago, we bought this modern property while it was being built and have finished it off to our style and taste.
It's modern, large, full of light, and sufficiently close to the city to be handy, yet still peaceful and quiet with no traffic.
Wouldn't live anywhere else.
What makes this property unique
