About this property
2 double bedroom beautifully restored late-Georgian apt in the heart of the city
A sensational and handsomely furnished 18th century 1st floor 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment for 4 with vast Georgian windows looking directly over the River Avon, Pulteney Bridge, historic Bath stone buildings and the rolling countryside beyond.
This exceptional building, with a rare vantage point in the centre of this beautiful city, makes for a truly memorable experience. The spectacular southerly views, along with the sound of water flowing over the weir, are enchanting. It has been lauded as the best location in the city of Bath and is featured in many Bath postcards.
The building was designed by Robert Adam c. 1790 and today this magnificent apartment has been beautifully restored, retaining wonderful period detail along with luxurious contemporary adaptations. It is adjacent to the famous Pulteney Bridge, which is featured in many postcards and souvenirs and, like the Ponte Vecchio in Florence, is lined with shops on either side. Being at the heart of the city, it is easy to explore the sights on foot.
The grand living and dining room makes an impact, with its extraordinary double height ceiling, flamboyant decorative cornices and three vast floor to ceiling windows. There are two large comfortable gold sofas to seat 6 and a vintage easy chair. Large mirrored alcoves with gold lamps house an oak desk and sideboard with a wall mounted TV adjacent. The sideboard has a selection of games and books, with Wi Fi and phone located in the bedroom. The contemporary dining setting in front of fabulous views, comfortably seats 6. Beside this area under a curved mezzanine is the kitchen.
The contemporary bespoke fitted kitchen has clean lines and top of the range appliances. There is an induction hob, electric oven, and microwave. Elegantly concealed are a large fridge and separate freezer, dishwasher and a washing machine combined with dryer.
On the mezzanine level is another comfortable lounge area with river views. There is a large sofa for 3, two comfortable armchairs and two occasional chairs along with side tables and lamps for reading.
There are two charming double bedrooms. The first has a pretty chandelier, 5’ king sized bed, chest of drawers, wardrobe and easy chair with two original sash windows overlooking Pulteney Bridge Road. The second room has a pretty 4’6” double bed and a large contemporary ensuite shower room with a shower, hand basin and wc.
There is a spacious tiled bathroom tucked under the mezzanine, with a contemporary walk-in shower, hand basin, wc, utility cupboard and a small recessed window with a unique view of Pulteney bridge.
Everything that this lovely historic city has to offer is within easy reach, the closest of which is the Bath Abbey, the Roman Baths, the Theatre Royal and the Therme Spa. There are many museums and galleries as well as a great choice of shops, bars and restaurants. Exploring on foot will lead to many wonderful discoveries and you will never be far from your beautiful retreat.
The bus and train stations are less than a 10 minute walk.
