Lovely Stay in St. George's
This was our second trip to Bermuda. Our first holiday was in Warwick and we found the walking problematic because of the busy traffic. We decided to stay 2 weeks in St. George's, a much quieter part of the island. Tyrone and Andrea's house is perfect for a quite holiday focused on the simple things: long walks, a bit of history, nice meals, golf, reading and just relaxing. Some things to note: the house is within a 15 minute walk of St. Georges where you can find grocery shopping and a few good restaurants, You can also easily walk to Five Forts golf course, Fort St. Catherine, Gates Fort and the railway trail. However, the house is on a hill, so the location favours the fit. There is a bus stop 10 minutes away, with access to the whole island. For golfers, Five Forts clubhouse is only a 5 minute cab ride (or 20 minute walk) away. There is a decent twilight rate after 4 pm. For a less expensive experience, try the Ocean View course just outside Hamilton. It's a lovely 9 hole course that is a relative bargain. Ask Tyrone nicely and he might lend you clubs or even join you for a round. Be sure to speak to Tyrone and Andrea. They are fantastic people and very knowledgeable about the island. If you are bird watcher, be sure to ask Andrea about the best viewing spots. The house is well-equipped for 2-4 people. Beyond that, you'll find the cutlery and crockery a bit limited. There is also a single bathroom. Water is limited in Bermuda, so there is no dishwasher.
