Small castle in the heart of Burgundy, swimming pool, panoramic view
In the heart of the Côte d'Or region, a stone's throw from Alesia (Burgundy), this small castle which offers a remarkable panorama on its authentic village and the surrounding countryside. The flowered garden extends over three levels, crossed by a small water source with a soothing sound. On the first terrace, a swimming pool (12x4 meters, open from mid-May), heated and secured by an electric shutter. The Château des Roches is a real family home, where it is good to be in the living room around the stoves and the big fireplace, the billiard table or the quarter grand piano for an evening. The spacious rooms allow everyone to have their own place to play, listen to music, read quietly or simply do nothing. Pets are welcome. Ping-pong table, Mölky, petanque balls, board games, DVD collection,... the house is made for stays with friends or several generations. Sheets and toilet towels are provided, the beds are made at your arrival. You only have to put your suitcases :). The village for shopping is 10km away. You will find bakeries, butcher, press, and a big supermarket. A market gardener sells his vegetables nearby, and a baker comes twice a week in a van to the village. During the cold season, heating during your stay is charged extra, based on the actual consumption of fuel oil (count 50 liters per day). Check-in is from 4 p.m. and check-out is at 10 a.m. for week-long stays. For weekends, departure may be in the afternoon, on a case-by-case basis. Please note: the house is not suitable for people with mobility difficulties, because of the steps to access the house and between the different terraces in the garden.

Thank you so much André for your kind words. I am happy you had a great time. Please come again, you know the way
The villa itself had rustic country charm. It was a little bit dusty in some areas, but the kitchen and bathrooms were clean. Heated pool was a plus.

Thank you for your feedback. I understand that you refer to back kitchen storage and workshop areas as being a bit dusty. Indeed these rooms apart from the main house are for our own use. Our two dedicated cleaning ladies focus on living spaces. We are doing our best to make our visitors confortable and happy in our house that offers large rooms, high ceilings, a beautiful garden and an outstanding view.
We had a wonderful stay in this small but spacious chateau. Sophie, the host was very attentive and responded quickly to any queries. The kitchen is very well equipped and the BBQ was very easy to use, which we did often. The grounds are quite extensive and secure, very important as we brought our dog with us. The pool was heated which was good. We are a 3 generational family of adults and there was plenty of choice of activities for us all - the pool table was very popular! Would definitely recommend this lovely property.

Thank you Germaine, happy that you had a nice family stay in our house. Hope to see you another time !
We had such great family time in this historic beautiful chateau that is furnished so charmingly with antiques and period pieces. Sophie was a delightful host, easy to communicate with. The chateau is well equipped (though a microwave would be a nice addition), and we enjoyed the piano, pool table, music and children’s toys! The grounds are so lovely and there is lots to do!

Thank you very much Christine, happy to know you enjoyed your stay in our family house.
The microwave has been recently broken and we had no time to replace it. We will buy a new one this week.
We had a beautiful stay at a wonderful house in the quiet village of Hauteroche. The house was well equiped for our group of nine people and a dog. With big living area’s, a nice garden and swimming pool. And the billiard of course😁. The few questions we had during the week we promptly replied. Thank you for a wonderful week Sophie!

Thank you Arie ! I'm delighted that you have such fond memories of your stay.
We stayed with a whole family of 3 generations in the house and it is most suitable thatfore. We loved to play pool billiard and to play the piano 4 handed.
The housekeeper was charming and always helpful.
The house is very generous but not too chic, so one does feel comfortable also with little children. We all including the children loved the house and wanted to stay longer. Wrecrecommendtostalonger.

Thank you so much for your feedback. It was a pleasure to have you home.
If you are looking for a special place which provides a lot to do (Pool, Trampoline, Ping Pong, Billard-Table) and discover in- and outside of the castle, this is a perfect place. We has a great weekend with the family.
Everything worked as planned and communication was super nice.
There are some other villages nearby where you can find restaurants as well as grocery shopping places (ca. 10 min by car from Hauteroche).
We also had a cook from Dijon preparing dinner for us at the castle. This was a very nice and delicious experience and was recommended by the owner!
We will definitely think about returning another time!

Thank you Pascal, we appreciate your feedback. You are welcome any time.
We were with 9 people (including three children) and dog in the really beautiful little castle of Sophie. In reality, we found the house even more beautiful than in the photos. So if you like the photos, you will love the house too. It was perfect for a family trip, pool, table tennis, billiards, trampoline, a field to play ball, the opportunity to barbecue, but also enough space in the house to play and retreat. The house was perfectly prepared for us on arrival and Sophie had also provided us with information in advance. We felt very happy, Sophie and Albert were easy to reach and took care of us. So thank you very much for the hospitality and the good time!
The house is located in a really very small and quiet place, so you always have to drive for groceries and food. But if you are willing, then you will find within a 1/2 hour a variety of wonderful restaurants in the many the small towns around Hauteroche.
Therefore a great house and hosts in a beautiful location.

I am delighted that you had such an unforgettable time. Come back whenever you like, you'll be most welcome.

Thank you Karina for your feedback. I'm glad you have fond memories of your stay.
The house is old and authentic, with antique furniture. Perhaps a modern house would have been more in line with your expectations. The place had been thoroughly cleaned before your arrival, so some dust may have remained in places, as we're in the countryside :)
As for the pool, the appearance of algae that required treatment came from the Sahara winds, which was the case of many swimming pools in the area. This is not a lack of maintenance. We apologize again for this inconvenience, which was beyond our control.
Danke Sophie

Thank you Beatrix . I'm delighted to hear that you had such a memorable time despite the gloomy weather. The house and its large open spaces make it easy to have good times together. The hedges of the garden in front of the house will be replaced soon.

Thank you Moritz for your feedback. I am happy that you enjoyed the house and the garden. It is true that the children's dormitory has little insulation from the kitchen below. We will work on it. And add some glasses !
On espère bien pouvoir y revenir ! Merci !

It was a wonderful place for our family to be together, make music, cook, swim in the large pool, play games, and take long walks. Communication with Sophie was excellent and she even arranged for the piano to be tuned! Wonderful produce at the little stall at the bottom of the hill. Visits to Flavigny and Semur-en-Auxois were highlights too. Unfortunately we apparently damaged the pool table felt, but Sophie has been very fair and clear about how to settle that. All in all a lovely week. Thank you!
