Built by Rasa Hows, this farmhouse was erected in 1840 and has been lovingly updated from then to this more modern fresh now. Think luxury meets refined Americana. This home is situated on 10 acres with stables and plenty of outdoor entertaining areas for the whole family or fun friends. We're on the National Historic Registry. Folklore suggests a Civil war skirmish fought on the property, to Frank and Jesse James whisky brewing... even a still under the house during prohibition supplying moonshine to Al Capone.
* 2 miles from the newly opened Ford Center Bellevue Ice Skating Rink where the Preds practice and where the Scott Hamilton figure skating school is housed.

Hows Manor was fantastic! Great location, house fully stocked with kitchen “stuff” for grilling & cooking. Full laundry, fantastic porch for watching the lighting bugs while enjoying a cocktail! Comfortable beds, sofa & room to lounge around. Would stay again!
Family of 3 stayed for a Spring break. Great historic home, convenient location to all major attractions. Prompt communication with the owner. Recommended
We have stayed at Hows Manor before. The home is perfect for that get away in nature that is also 15 minutes away from Nashville and its nightlife. The property is amazing. Jeff’s home, feels like home from the second you walk in.
We had an amazing time at this home! Plenty of space for everyone and still very cozy & welcoming. There were 6 adults in our party and dogs. The huge fenced property was amazing! We will be back!
This is a beautiful property! A old country home, very unique place. Lots of history on the property. They had all we needed and then some. Will definitely be back.
Loved our stay here. Close to Nashville and all of its attraction's. Close to park and trails. Enough pots and pans for Thanksgiving dinner! House was lovely and spacious. Jeff greeted us on arrival and gave us a tour....very nice host! Great to have an enclosed yard for our little Pom, too! You'll love it!
This property is expansive with 10 acres available to explore. Yard games available and plenty of space to enjoy family time outdoors. The home itself is historic, quaint, spacious and well cared for. The host is available quickly for any questions. Great dining room with space for meals and games. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would recommend, and will likely return.
Every thing was wonderful and the host was absolutely amazing! Very accommodating and so kind! He went out of his way to make sure we were taken care of in every way possible! The property and its history are very unique! We sleep so peacefully and so easy in this beautiful home! We highly recommend this property!
Hows Manor was a great place to get together with friends. We enjoyed sitting on the outside patio after a day seeing the sights of Nashville. There was plenty of room for watching tv or playing board games in the evenings. Jeff told us the history of the Hows property and was very helpful with recommendations of restaurants, music venues and historical sights.
This is a wonderful house, decorated beautifully. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was fully stocked. Everything that could be done for our comfort was done. We couldn’t have asked for a more wonderful place to spend our family reunion.
The back porch was the perfect place to drink your morning coffee. I will continue to think of this place.
Four college girlfriends from the 1960’s gathered for a reunion, choosing Nashville because a fifth friend lives in the area. The 1940’s farmhouse exceeded our expectations in furnishings-updated and comfortable. The back porch was our “go to” place for conversation and board games while enjoying the ambience and authentic farm views. We will return!
Jeff was great, very helpful during check-in and during our stay. There was plenty of space for our dogs, adequate wifi, and great outdoor space for relaxation. The bed was a little uncomfortable for my liking, but I'm a picky sleeper. My only complaint is that the refrigerator and freezer were not cleared out or clean, and we really needed the space as we were there for an extended stay, and it would have been nice if it was clean too. All in all, we would stay here again. Thank you Jeff!
Our family had such a wonderful stay at this historical house in West Nashville. Feels like you are away from it all, but so convent to grocery, services and entertainment. Jeff is a thoughtful and responsive host. The home was decorated for Christmas and we felt like we were transported to an old American novel while we played games in front of the fire. Great outdoor features as well. Look forward to another stay in the future. Enjoy!!
We love the property, the house and land. This is our second visit and we will stay again. Just one comment, the lighting in the upstairs right side bedroom is inadequate for reading in bed. There are two downturned desk lamps that do not reflect any light onto the bed for anyone wanting to read in bed. Otherwise, just perfect inside and out!
Staying at Hows manor was amazing, the history speaks for itself. This Manor was more than I expected. The manor is beautifully decorated and has everything you need for your stay. Jeff met us and explained everything about the house and also gave a history lesson, which was great and very much appreciated. We spent most of our time outside, which was very quiet, this was a wonderful experience.
Definitely a one of a kind property. Although our party was in town for a funeral service, being in this house and on the property gave us all a sense of being "Home". Jeff was very thorough in the details he puts into each room to give it that feeling of comfort without being stuffy, This is an absolute "would recommend" and is a must stay again if the need arrises.
Our family had a wonderful time staying in this lovely home. It was the perfect spot to celebrate our granddaughters first birthday. Jeff was fantastic, and even stopped by to show us extra details to help us during our stay. If you love historical homes with southern charm, this is it. We will be back! That back porch is calling my name.
Terrific historic house in the country but close to Nashville
This beautiful, historic house was perfect for our family of ten during our vacation in Nashville. The house and grounds are huge and comfortable with traditional design and decoration yet modern conveniences. It was only moments away from local stores and restaurants and only about 25 minutes from major Nashville attractions. It was great to tour Broadway during the day and return to the quiet of the country at night. The owner, Jeff, was kind enough to show us the features of the property and provide us with some of its history.
We had an excellent experience and would highly recommend this house.
Great stay at a historically rich house. Tons to do and close to Nashville. Would definitely stay again.
