Harkness Hollow is located near the base of Tray Mountain, over looks Chimney Mountain and sits on 3.5 acres west of Sautee, GA. The house was designed by a Landscape Architect, as a mountain retreat, where the beauty of the North Georgia mountains could be enjoyed. His children, including a daughter and son and his wife, have done a renovation that includes many hand built features, including: the decks, fireplace mantel, kitchen shelving, counter tops and pantry door, plus the queen bed in the main bedroom and the main bath vanity and shelving. Hardwood floors, hand hued beams and wood paneled walls, all make for a warm and inviting setting. The kitchen has been newly reimagined, and a custom bar and bench have been built into the deck. There’s a “summer” room, just across the yard, that’s perfect for morning coffee or an evening cocktail. A small pond with a waterfall makes a tranquil sound. A firepit is available for cold evenings. You’ll drink pure, clean well water and enjoy a truly one-of-a-kind home, just an hour and a half drive from Atlanta. Unicoi State Park is less than 5 miles away (offering hiking, canoeing, and lake activities), as is Sautee featuring a Pottery Museum, the Old Sautee Store and a number of shops and restaurants. Ziplining, biking and horseback riding are all within an easy drive. Frichey’s, a tradition in the area, is a large road side stand with year-round fresh vegetables and seasonal items.
