About the host
Hosted by Mike Lidstone

Mike is a nearly retired Mountie who spent a lot of weekends in the area camping with his family as a child. He worked at the last operational coal mine in the area the summer of 1984 and had a very memorable summer getting to know the area and the wonderful people of Inverness. While living in Vancouver he would return every summer to Inverness to enjoy the area with family and friends. It is his peaceful place to come and decompress and spend time on the beach or just listen to the surf from the deck of this summer getaway. He is never tired of a drive along the coastline or to catch the most incredible sunsets in the world each and every day possible.
Why they chose this property
This property is neat and clean with a perfect location. The drives around the area unveil some breathtaking views and the proximity to the ocean and the laid back atmosphere is very therapeutic and relaxing. Inverness is just one of those special seaside places. There is a reason that two world class golf courses were developed in this area-it is truly breathtaking.
What makes this property unique
Directly across the street from Cabot Links Golf Course. You can arrive and park your car then walk across the street to Cabot Links for a round of golf then the next day have the shuttle pick you up to go and golf Cabot Links. Take the family to the incredible beach for the day and swim in the Gulf Stream in the Northumberland Strait in warmest waters north of the Carolinas.
Explore some incredible beaches and country drives. Go hiking along trails and go to the breathtaking Skyline Trail, Egypt Falls or Gympsum Mines Park and swim in the gorgeous gypsum quarry.
Inverness County has by far the most talented musicians in the world. It is an area where Celtic music flourishes and musicians are sought after from all over the world to perform and to teach traditional Celtic music as it has existed for many generations untouched by outside influences. Don't be surprised to hear people speak Gaelic as they are proud of their Celtic roots. Nearby is one of the largest Acadian communities in the world in Cheticamp where Acadian French is spoken and Acadian traditions are practised. This is one area from where Cajuns descended and the family names in Cheitcamp are the same as in Cajun communities all over he world.
It is pretty hard not to attend Inverness and not have a feed of the best seafood in the world. There is nothing like having a feed of lobsters caught only an hour before it hits your plate-so sweet and juicy!! Crab is another popular seafood caught in the area.
Fly fishermen all know the famous Margaree River known for their salmon.
You have to top off your feasts with a myriad of home cooked sweets and desserts- they can be found in any corner store, bakery or country market.
