Happy Place Key Largo - Waterfront Vintage Coastal Cottage

The best of the Florida Keys awaits at Happy Place Key Largo. Enjoy world class fishing and diving or just soak in the laid-back lifestyle on the hammock in our cozy canal front cottage with open water views and amazing sunsets year-round. Located less than 1 hour from Miami International Airport and a fun day trip away from the Everglades, Key West and everything in between, this two-story home is perfect for small groups or entertaining visitors seeking warm weather. We are located just three miles from John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park, on the Bayside at Mile Marker 105. See list of local attractions below.

Happy Place comfortably sleeps 8 guests with 4 bedrooms, 2 full sized bathrooms and a fully equipped kitchen with everything you need to make this your home away from home. The open concept living area includes two comfy sofas and a large dining table/kitchen island that's perfect for entertaining. There are 2 spacious balconies offering open water views and ocean breezes - the balcony right outside the kitchen has a picnic table with a Weber grill ready to BBQ your freshly caught fish.

The lower level of the house is all about enjoying the outdoors. The mangroves directly across the street attract flocks of chirping Egrets and Spoonbills while the roosters crow in the morning. From the canal you can see manatees, catch some snapper or see sunbathing iguanas while you mingle with the neighbors. Take a relaxing dip in the canal or enjoy a sunset paddle on the kayaks. There are four bright Adirondack chairs and a cool boat bench surrounding a fire pit to keep you lounging into the night. In addition, there is a large covered patio with a dining set and a ceiling fan for alfresco dining. We also have a ping pong table and a corn hole game for more outdoor fun. Explore the Keys with kayaks and stand-up paddle boards included with the rental. Bring your bikes or rent one nearby, there are miles of paved trails that are perfect for exploring or bike riding to one of the many nearby restaurants and shops. The house is also within walking distance to a grocery store and a convenience store for all your needs. The front of the house offers ample parking. Bring your boat down or rent one here - but please let us know your plans so that we can make necessary accommodations.

Happy Place is my favorite place to stay in Key Largo. The home is well stocked, large and very comfortable. The owners are responsive and very nice. This was my second stay at this beautiful home and it won't be the last.

We stayed at Happy Place February 2026 and I can assure the house and area are exactly as described. We had a few questions and one minor problem (a leak in the washer/dryer area) and Cathy was quick to respond to our texts and had the problem resolved within an hour. I would not hesitate to recommend Happy Place and Cathy as your host. I cannot wait to return.

The perfect home away from home.

Location is absolutely perfect. Only 30 minutes from mainland. Only 30 minutes to Islamorada. Canal in backyard has excellent fishing opportunities. We caught so many fish. Owners were very personable and responsive with caring respect towards any of our needs. The home is huge and spacious with every attention to detail.

Great stay at Happy Place with everything you need for a Happy Time!

The house was perfect and had everything we needed and more. They have recently updated and everything was neat, clean and in perfect shape a advertised. Cathy was super helpful with suggestions and place to go and her guest book has everything you need for your stay. The neighborhood is quiet and safe and we were able to make friends with the local manatees and sharks. Was able to catch some snapper and sheepshead off their dock as well as fish at the reef and offshore a few times during our stay. Overall a great experience thanks to our host!

Everything was incredibly amazing!! We had the best 2 month vacation!! The house was perfect, the location, the view, the outside space, watching manatees at the dock, fishing, swimming, and the most lovely neighbors. The neighborhood is so nice and quiet and so close to everything! The house itself is so charming and you will not need to bring anything except your clothes and personal items. Plenty of room for a family or two! Cathy and Miguel were fantastic host. We will be back for sure!! Thank you again for such a great adventure for our family in these crazy Covid times. Great house with Fantastic Hosts

We (and our dog) just spent a month in the house and had a great time. Cathy & Miguel are responsive and easy to work with and have insured that every detail is attended to. They go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable. The house is immaculate and rooms are good sized with two full bathrooms. Nice views from master and living areas. It is stocked with everything you could possibly need...and then some - from kitchen items, to cleaning supplies to USB hubs, fun stuff including bikes, paddle boards, kayaks, ping pong table, and a hammock. We thoroughly enjoyed the decks and wonderful outdoor seating area, which are good spots for seeing manatee and iguanas almost daily. We also appreciated the recommendations provided for restaurants and fishing guides. This is a great house with fantastic hosts.

Definitely home away from home

Happy Place Key Largo is no typical rental. With most rentals you get the bare minimum, if that. Cathy's place is not only spotless and beautifully decorated, but it is stocked with just about anything you might need for your stay. The kitchen was a dream with nice cookware, utensils, appliances, a big farm sink and a pantry, plus tons of spices and condiments. The washer/dryer were really helpful and cleaned clothes well. There are board games, cards, Cornhole, ping pong, tiki toss (really fun), kayaks, paddle boards, fire pit w/firewood, a lily pad to float in the canal if you want, and much more. The neighbors are all really friendly and the neighborhood was great to walk and ride bikes in. St. Justin Martyr church was a 5 minute walk and we loved hearing the bells! We saw so many manatees and fish in the canal. The 3rd floor balcony gives you a gorgeous view out to the bay & beautiful sunsets. The mosquitoes feasted on us so be sure to bring long sleeves & pants if you'll be spending time outside in the mornings and evenings. Cathy did have Off Skintastic and that was appreciated. The Weber gas grill was great and very handy right off the kitchen. Cathy was incredibly communicative any time I had a question. I would not hesitate to book here again!

This property is amazing and hosts are so kind and welcoming. My group stayed for a month and did virtual work. The home is clean and comfortable, the wifi is fast and could easily hand the majority of us using zoom through the day and the having the canal right in the backyard was the perfect set up. We saw manatees everyday and have left with lifelong memories. I would recommend anyone looking to stay in the keys to stay here. Thanks so much Cathy!

Happy Place Indeed!

Our first time in the Keys, and having such an amazing place to stay definitely helped! Happy Place became our happy place very quickly, enjoying peaceful mornings on one of the 2 balconies to enjoy our coffee, afternoons spent lounging in the outdoor space and of course sunsets on kayak! Location was very central to many area attractions, and food options endless!! Property was so well equipped with anything we may have needed during our stay, and our host, Cathy, was in contact throughout the stay to ensure we knew of local happenings, and was very responsive if anything needed to be addressed at the home. Overall, a FANTASTIC stay!!

Why they chose this property

Growing up by the water, it was only natural for us to want to purchase a second home in the Florida Keys. We loved that this property was close to Miami to allow us easier access to fun. Being on the calmer Bay side of the Keys has allowed us better paddling and amazing sunsets. The home has been a cozy place for our family to enjoy the laid back Keys lifestyle, have friends over, and enjoy our neighbors.

What makes this property unique

We take pride in our Happy Place and enjoy managing our vacation rental. We are active hosts who are always a phone call away for any questions or area suggestions. The house is very well maintained and we have put a lot of effort into making it a home away from home.
